My name is Justin League, and I’m an independent insurance agent with
TWFG Sparks Insurance. We specialize in auto, home, commercial, boat,
RV, travel trailer, motorcycle, and flood insurance along with many other
areas. We currently bind with over 50 companies. So more times than not,
we are able to find the perfect fit and price for your insurance needs. I’d
love the opportunity to quote your policies and see if I can help.
I have been happily married to my wife Pamela for 15 years and we reside in Deer Park. In my opinion, the
smartest thing a business owner can do is become a member of the chamber of commerce. It opens so
many doors through relationships that you get to build, not to mention you always know what is going on in
your community. No matter what situation arises, I personally know who I can call or if I don’t, the chamber
or other members do. If you put in the time and effort and engage with your chamber, it truly is the best
tool in your business toolbox.

18 Chambergram On The Board of Directors
Serve
Members and Friends,
The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is seeking your input! Each year new members are elected to
the Board of Directors to serve as a volunteer of the organization for a 3 year term. If you would like to
nominate someone or yourself to serve in this capacity please submit their name and resume to Cristina
Womack at [email protected].
Nominees must be members in good standing with the ability to commit time monthly in attendance
at board meetings. Directors should value the mission of the organization: to promote economic
development and community growth to ensure the prosperity of Pasadena’s businesses and citizens. For
a full description of Board responsibilities and code of conduct click here.
Thank you for your continued investment in the chamber and support in finding the next candidates to
serve on the board. Nominations will be accepted until August 15, 2019. Newly elected board members
will be installed at the Annual Gala on December 12th where we will also be naming our coveted Citizen
of the Year.
Citizen of the Year is named annually to someone who has exhibited a level of dedication and contributions
to Pasadena above and beyond the call of duty. This is the highest honor named for an individual within
the Pasadena community. Nominations can be made by clicking here or returning the nomination form
to the chamber. Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2019 for the previous Citizen of the
Year recipients to make their selection.
If you have any questions about the process or nominations please don’t hesitate reaching out.

Kaneka Sponsors 2-Day
Leadership Challenge
In 2014, Kaneka launched the creation of their private foundation in Pasadena,
TX; The Kaneka Foundation, whose mission is to promote and facilitate charitable
works in the advancement of four key areas: education, environment, health,
and social services. Kaneka facilitates a leadership program within their own
company, but also wanted to give back to the community by facilitating a two-
day leadership workshop for non-profit organization leaders and municipality
directors.
Working in partnership with the Pasadena Chamber, The Kaneka Foundation
makes this program available to 20 non-profit members of the Chamber under
the leadership of Steve Skarke, President of The KaneCkaONFEoRuEnNdATaItion. This is a
huge benefit and unique opportuonictyonfsosrusoaumr Xneornae-pFircoiifsitemst aelimqubisearlsit, as they
gain access to leadership development and cuqrruicautelummvetloipbsaenttioesrRprepare
them to lead their organizations.
The Leadership Challenge is a experiential workshop that focuses on The
Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership developed from Jim Kouzes and
Barry Posner. It equips participants with solid options to better lead their
teams to achieve better results, established a clear vision about their
leadership style, motivated them to take risks while having the courage
to do things differently and focused on identifying their core values and
beliefs. Each participant also participated in a Leadership Practices
Inventory assessment which shows scoring and feedback on their own
personal leadership style completed from peers, direct reports and
managers.
Murline Staley, Executive Director for the Pasadena Strawberry Festival, said,
“This was one of the best classes I have ever been in. It kept me motivated
throughout both days and taught me that failure was ok, because we are
all learning from our mistakes and taking them forward to achieve our goals.”
The Leadership Challenge workshop not only enabled participants to gain
knowledge for their own development but it also allowed leaders to connect
across organizations they might not otherwise engage with creating awareness
and an expanded network. Thank you again Kaneka Foundation, Wiley
Corporation and to Pasadena ISD for hosting the workshop and food sponsors
Thrivent Financial and Taco Cabana.
