Pasadena Chamber Member News After persisting through a lengthy approval process, myself and the Team at Troop Industrial are thrilled to share some exciting news with you – our company has recently been certified as a SBA Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)! This certification is a significant milestone for us, that opens doors of opportunity for us and our clients. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we are committed to providing exceptional products/ services while also contributing to the support and empowerment of our veteran community. Some of our clients have expressed challenges finding qualified vendors that are required to be utilized on jobs that are State or Federally funded. Currently, there are a lot of significant projects that are entirely funded or subsidized by the Federal government. Those jobs require a certain percentage of the job be spent with a company that checks a box. We qualified as a SDVOSB but were not certified through the SBA. Our clients encouraged us to get the certification through the SBA so that we could participate in these large capital projects where Federal and State funds are being utilized. We have decades of experience providing material and services on large Mega Projects to small maintenance jobs in the private sector. We now bring that experience into the government sector. We check the box, and our customer gets the exceptional level of experience, service, and performance expected from a vendor. At Troop Industrial we are always looking for ways to contribute to our customers’ success and profitability. This ensures we get invited to the big people table when it’s time to plan for the next job. This certification is a win for our clients and a win for Troop Industrial. The box we check is one that was earned through sacrifices made for this country of ours. When you check that SDVOSB box, you turn the spotlight on the American Flag and those that were willing to give it all. What does this certification mean for you, our valued customers? It signifies our dedication to excellence, integrity, and service. It demonstrates to your client base that you support your Veteran community and align with a company that has values that go beyond just profitability and the next sale. The SDVOSB certification also opens up new opportunities for us to collaborate with government agencies and participate in federal contracting programs aimed at supporting small businesses like ours. As always, our primary focus remains on delivering the highest quality products and service and ensuring your complete satisfaction. This certification further underscores our commitment to excellence and reinforces our position as a trusted partner that you can count on 24/7/365. We want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and trust in our company. Many of you have been doing business with us since I was working out of the back of my house, and you are a significant reason Troop Industrial is where it is today. It is because of customers like you that we are able to reach new heights and make a positive impact in our community. At Troop Industrial, we’re also big believers in paying it forward. If you have any questions about the process of getting an SDVOSB certification, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We would love to help other veteran-owned businesses navigate the process to get this certification. Contact: Brian Swindell, President 409-727-7384 TroopIndustrial.com Chambergram 10

2024 Non-Profit of the Year: The Rose The Rose Breast Center was founded in 1986 by two pioneering Texas women who met at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena – CEO Dorothy Gibbons and Dr. Dixie Melillo. Tired of seeing late-stage breast cancers and watching women die, they were determined to provide a place for comprehensive, quality breast care for all women regardless of their ability to pay. The pioneering didn’t stop with the founding of The Rose, advocating for policy change that led to insurance coverage for annual screening mammograms, providing breast cancer support groups and creating patient navigation programs are just some of the standards we enjoy today that Dorothy and Dixie advocated for and implemented at The Rose long before they were common practice. The Rose’s Mobile Mammography Program has become the largest in the State, both in volume served and in geographic reach. The Pink Fleet uses five mobile health coaches and serves women throughout 43 Southeast Texas counties. Life-saving services provided by The Rose include screening mammograms, full diagnostic services, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsies and physician consultation. Its Patient Navigation Program assists uninsured women diagnosed with breast cancer access treatment. Its innovative Mammogram to Medical Home Program assists uninsured women who do not have a physician, access medical service, obtain a mammogram and find a medical home. The Rose’s two diagnostic centers and mobile mammography program are designated as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology ensuring the highest level of care. The Rose is the only non-hospital affiliated organization to receive this designation in Southeast Texas. The Rose’s future holds breast MRI services, genetic testing and more patient-centered services. Since 1986, The Rose has served nearly 1 million women and men and annually provides imaging services to 40,000 patients. In 2024, an estimated, 8,000 uninsured women and men will turn to The Rose for help. They have no other place to go. The Rose relies on insured patients, grants, community support and business donations to care for their uninsured patients and help ensure they survive this disease. The Rose has stood the test of time. Today, it is a thriving, nationally recognized nonprofit organization with topnotch technology, excellent financial management, passionate employees, and a commitment to saving lives. The Rose believed then, what we believe now - no one should die from breast cancer simply because they can’t afford a mammogram. For more information visit www.therose.org. Healthgrades Names HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast a 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award Recipient (HCA Houston Healthcare SE Among Top 10% in Nation for Patient Safety) HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast announced today that it has been recognized as a 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recipient by Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. This achievement reflects HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast’s commitment to delivering safe, high quality care. “It is an honor to be awarded Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence, because of the commitment of our colleagues and physicians we have been recognized for this award three consecutive years, 2022 – 2024,” said Yasmene McDaniel, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast. “That commitment, along with continued advancements in knowledge, skills, and technology, allow us to consistently deliver top healthcare to every patient, every day.” Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates for approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to determine this year’s top-performing hospitals for patient safety. During the 2020-2022 study period, nearly 170,000 potentially preventable safety events occurred among Medicare patients in U.S. hospitals, with four patient safety indicators accounting for close to 75% of these incidents.* Healthgrades’ analysis revealed that patients treated in hospitals receiving the 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower chance of experiencing one of the four leading safety indicators than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals: ● In-hospital fall resulting in fracture (approximately 52% less likely)* ● Collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest (approximately 56% less likely)* ● Pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital (approximately 67% less likely)* ● Catheter-related bloodstream infections acquired in the hospital (approximately 71% less likely)* HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast has cultivated an outstanding safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of both patients and staff, setting a high standard for patient safety nationwide,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast for providing top-quality care while preventing serious injuries to patients during their hospital stay.” Where you’re treated matters, which is why Healthgrades is committed to providing the most scientifically accurate information about doctors and hospitals–with data insights not available anywhere else. To learn more about how Healthgrades measures hospital quality, visit healthgrades.com. *Statistics are calculated from Healthgrades Patient Safety Ratings and Excellence Award Methodology, which is based primarily on AHRQ technical specifications (Version 2023.0.1) to MedPAR data from approximately 4,500 hospitals for years 2020 through 2022 and represent three-year estimates for Medicare patients only.
