Diamond Partner Spotlight

Mr. & Mrs. Miles have decided to officially retire. They looked for a company
to merge with that shared the same values as Miles Service. After a long
search they found a family run company to merge with so they could
continue to grow and provide their customers with the service they are
accustomed to.

They are still Miles Service with the same staff and technicians. Eric Harkins is now the General Manager and
will continue the legacy that he has spent the last 20
years training for under his mentor Bobby Miles.

They are now officially Air Tech of Pasadena LLC. DBA
Miles Service. You will still see their famous penguin vans

Pipefitters Local 211

Pipefitters Local 211 was chartered in 1949
and is one of over 300 local unions in the
United Association. The United Association
of Journeymen and Apprentices of the
Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the
United States and Canada or “UA” as it is commonly called, is a
multi-craft union whose members are engaged in the fabrication,
installation, and servicing of piping systems.

The UA has been training qualified pipe tradesmen longer than any-
one else in the industry. The UA boasts the premier training programs
available in the industry today, including five year apprenticeship
programs, extensive journeymen training, organized instructor train-
ing and certification programs. Also, members of Pipefitters Local
211 and the United Association are offered a great pension and
good medical benefits.

We Want You!

Whitney Davis, Co-Chair | Ambassadors Committee

As we wrap up the program of work for 2021, I am so unbelievably grateful to have been able to work
side-by-side our amazing group of ambassadors this year. For those of you who are unaware, the
ambassadors are (in my not so humble opinion) the greatest committee that serves the chamber. I like
to refer to us as “the fun group.”

In 2022, we are looking to grow this committee. If you are a member and are wanting to find ways to
engage and connect with other members then look no further!

The ambassadors have the opportunity to attend all ribbon cuttings and help welcome new businesses
into our community. We also help volunteer and put on events and check in with members throughout
the year to see how we can help them get the most out of their membership. This committee is open for
any member of your staff to serve on, not just the CEO or owner.
Wishing you all prosperity in the new year.

To join the Ambassadors, please email Erin Webb at [email protected]

Chevron Pasadena Refinery Honored as 2021 Industry of the Year

It was a wonderful turnout at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Annual Industrial Appreciation
Membership luncheon, where we were able to honor our 2021 Industry of the Year award recipient, Chevron
Pasadena Refinery.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery creates ever-cleaner energy products that fuel progress here and around the
world. From gasoline to diesel to chemical feedstocks, every product is produced with care by a dedicated
team of Chevron operators, engineers, scientists and other professionals. Our people focus continually on safe,
reliable operations to provide energy in an environmentally responsible way.
Chevron purchased Pasadena Refining System, Inc. (PRSI) in May 2019 for three business reasons.
1. The refinery offers Chevron a strategic location to process Texas crude oil we produce in the Permian Basin.
2. This facility helps supply 1,500 Chevron and Texaco retail stations in Texas, with a strong presence here in

the Greater Houston area.
3. This plant teams up with a Chevron refinery in Mississippi on product exchanges and maintenance

planning.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery can process 110 thousand barrels of oil per day and store 5.1 million barrels
on our 466-acre complex.
Approach to responsible operations in pasadena
Chevron delivers success by building trusting relationships and protecting people and the environment.
Throughout Chevron, we work hard to be environmental stewards and promote open dialogue with our
community neighbors. We take product containment and pollution prevention seriously, putting strong focus
on the use of effective safeguards. Simply stated, we protect the environment through responsible operations.
Approach to community engagement
Chevron is committed to creating social and economic
value wherever we do business. Through local engagement,
we generate new opportunities for residents and help
communities reach their greatest potential.
By delivering operational excellence and engaging with the
community, we achieve Chevron’s vision to be the global
energy company most admired for its people, partnership
and performance.

Ken Phelps Named 2021
Pasadena Citizen of the Year

On December 8, 2021 at the Pasadena Chamber Annual Celebration Luncheon, we revealed the 2021
Pasadena Citizen of the Year award to Ken Phelps of Phelps Insurance.

Ken Phelps is a native of Pasadena and has worked in our community for more than 30 years. Locally, he
has served on countless non-profit boards and supported many organizations over the years including the
Pasadena Chamber, Rotary, Economic Alliance, Deer Park Chamber, PISD Education Foundation, San
Jacinto College, Kiwanis, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Project Joy & Hope, and numerous special
project committees and event teams.

Ken isn’t just respected by community leaders and area non-profits locally though, he is also nationally
recognized for his success among colleagues in a very competitive industry where he is often tapped to
share best practices and spends time mentoring new agents, with 31 years’ experience in the insurance
industry.

Ken is a visionary who knows how to think next level and is most notably known for his generosity to others,
often without anyone ever knowing of his giving. Many also don’t know that he is a graduate of the
Executive Education OPM program from the Harvard Business School. He is someone who does not seek
recognition but is certainly deserving of this honor. Congratulations Ken!
