Chevron Pasadena Refinery Honored as 2021 Industry of the Year

It was a wonderful turnout at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Annual Industrial Appreciation
Membership luncheon, where we were able to honor our 2021 Industry of the Year award recipient, Chevron
Pasadena Refinery.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery creates ever-cleaner energy products that fuel progress here and around the
world. From gasoline to diesel to chemical feedstocks, every product is produced with care by a dedicated
team of Chevron operators, engineers, scientists and other professionals. Our people focus continually on safe,
reliable operations to provide energy in an environmentally responsible way.
Chevron purchased Pasadena Refining System, Inc. (PRSI) in May 2019 for three business reasons.
1. The refinery offers Chevron a strategic location to process Texas crude oil we produce in the Permian Basin.
2. This facility helps supply 1,500 Chevron and Texaco retail stations in Texas, with a strong presence here in

the Greater Houston area.
3. This plant teams up with a Chevron refinery in Mississippi on product exchanges and maintenance

planning.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery can process 110 thousand barrels of oil per day and store 5.1 million barrels
on our 466-acre complex.
Approach to responsible operations in pasadena
Chevron delivers success by building trusting relationships and protecting people and the environment.
Throughout Chevron, we work hard to be environmental stewards and promote open dialogue with our
community neighbors. We take product containment and pollution prevention seriously, putting strong focus
on the use of effective safeguards. Simply stated, we protect the environment through responsible operations.
Approach to community engagement
Chevron is committed to creating social and economic
value wherever we do business. Through local engagement,
we generate new opportunities for residents and help
communities reach their greatest potential.
By delivering operational excellence and engaging with the
community, we achieve Chevron’s vision to be the global
energy company most admired for its people, partnership
and performance.

Meet Our Newest Team Member

Jennifer Sparks | Events & Programs Coordinator
Pasadena Chamber of Commerce

We are so excited to introduce you to our newest team member,
Jennifer Sparks, who will be the Events & Programs Coordinator here
at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. In her new role as the
Events and Programs Coordinator, Jennifer is excited to positively
represent the Pasadena Chamber vision and values to all members,
prospective members, vendors and community stakeholders. She
will focus on implementing the chamber’s program of work through
planning and executing all meetings, events and major fundraising
initiatives, as well as provide administrative support for the IMPACT Pasadena leadership program.

About Jennifer:
Jennifer is an outgoing woman with a passion for serving and assisting others in her local community and
beyond to accomplish their professional and personal goals. Her bachelor’s degree in Communications
from California State University San Bernardino, along with several years of valuable experience
planning and executing various types of special events, including training and partnering with local
business owners and volunteers, has provided her the chance to develop excellent public speaking,
interpersonal and written communication skills.

Jennifer is a native Californian, but she moved to Texas soon after completing college to start her career
and begin her future with her husband of 22 years, Rick. They currently live in League City with their two
children, and most valuable accomplishments in life, Madelyn, who is 18 years old, and is a Freshman
at Baylor University and Christian, who is 13 and in 8th grade. Her favorite pastimes include serving in
the music and children’s ministry at church, facilitating a small group Bible Study for her daughter and
teenage friends and watching Broadway Musicals.

Some of her career highlights include working for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as a Program
Coordinator where she created, managed and implemented fundraising events throughout the year, as
well as developed positive relationships with numerous companies in the Houston Gulf Coast area. She
oversaw diverse team projects within the company, including writing and directing the MDA Jerry Lewis
Labor Day Telethon on KTRE in Lufkin, Texas. Jennifer was also a Sales Executive for Best Publications
“The Red Book” Community Yellow Pages for over 4 ½ years where she increased advertising revenue
and cultivated new business relationships in Houston and the surrounding areas, including Pasadena.
She enjoyed making professional sales recommendations that met each customer’s specific advertising
needs, so they could increase their exposure and ultimately, benefit their company financially. She
also had the privilege of being the founder and Troop Coordinator of the League City chapter of
American Heritage Girls (AHG) for over 5 years. AHG is a Character and Leadership Development
Program for girls ages 5-18 that is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service
to God, family, community and country. Jennifer’s vision was to enable girls of all ages, abilities and
backgrounds to grow in their faith, cultivate a heart for service, and develop positive relationships with
others. Throughout her time as a AHG Troop Coordinator, she nurtured positive relationships with all
volunteers, parents and girls through effective communication and listening skills, as well as managed
and coordinated all fundraising events.

Jennifer’s professional experience coupled with previous chamber engagement will be of great value
as she seeks to provide members with optimal experiences and exposure at our chamber meetings and
events. You can welcome her to the team and connect at [email protected] or meet her
at State of the City next week!

Jeanna Bamburg, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast Named
Chair of 2022 Houston March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™

HCA Houston Healthcare and March of Dimes (MOD) Houston is pleased to announce the
appointment of Jeanna Bamburg as chair of the 2022 Houston March for Babies: A Mother of a

Movement™.

“Jeanna is a longtime supporter of March for Babies and will focus her efforts to raise awareness
and critical funds for March of Dimes,” said Jen Torres, MOD senior executive director. “We are
thrilled that she has accepted this opportunity to lead our local movement to make America a
more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.”

Bamburg is CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, located in Pasadena, well known for its
obstetrics and midwifery services. She is asking local businesses and community members to join

her and HCA Houston Healthcare in supporting March for Babies. “The number of babies born
preterm here in Texas and nationwide is staggering,” said Bamburg. “By joining this movement,

individuals and groups can take action to help ensure March of Dimes can continue the vital
research, programs and advocacy that allow moms and babies to get the best possible start.”

Each day in the United States, one woman dies every 12 hours from pregnancy-related causes,
and 1 in 10 babies is born too soon. “Although we see thousands of healthy babies born

each year in the greater Houston area, we also see thousands of babies who need life-saving
treatments in our neonatal ICUs. The work of the March of Dimes is unparalleled in what they do
for moms and babies, and I’m so proud to be a part of this important work that affects so many

lives,” Bamburg added.

Houston March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ is back in-person and will be held
at 8 a.m., Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the University of Houston, 4800 Calhoun Road. Visit
marchforbabies.org for more information, to donate and start or join a team.

Clark Freight Lines Announces Sale of Company to
Founding Employees

On January 19, 2022, Clark Freight Lines Inc, a national for-hire
TL carrier based in Pasadena, Texas, announced the sale of the
company by founder Ron Clark, to founding employees David
Schnautz and Danny Schnautz. The company began operations
in Pasadena in 1989 and continues in that location to this day, with
other sites added.

With low turnover among drivers and shop/office staff, the company
has enjoyed success for reasons including that the Schnautz brothers
were once full-time long-haul truckers themselves for many years,
with both starting driving in the Texas oilfield while they were in high
school.

Both David, 57, and Danny, 54, make their homes near the corporate headquarters in Pasadena and are active in
leadership in industry groups. Clark operates a mix of company-owned and owner-operator trucks from 4 terminals
in 3 states, moving intermodal containers, dry vans, and flatbeds for many long-standing customers in primarily the
commodities, petro-chemicals, and building materials fields.
