Chevron Pasadena Refinery Honored as 2021 Industry of the Year

It was a wonderful turnout at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Annual Industrial Appreciation
Membership luncheon, where we were able to honor our 2021 Industry of the Year award recipient, Chevron
Pasadena Refinery.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery creates ever-cleaner energy products that fuel progress here and around the
world. From gasoline to diesel to chemical feedstocks, every product is produced with care by a dedicated
team of Chevron operators, engineers, scientists and other professionals. Our people focus continually on safe,
reliable operations to provide energy in an environmentally responsible way.
Chevron purchased Pasadena Refining System, Inc. (PRSI) in May 2019 for three business reasons.
1. The refinery offers Chevron a strategic location to process Texas crude oil we produce in the Permian Basin.
2. This facility helps supply 1,500 Chevron and Texaco retail stations in Texas, with a strong presence here in

the Greater Houston area.
3. This plant teams up with a Chevron refinery in Mississippi on product exchanges and maintenance

planning.
The Chevron Pasadena Refinery can process 110 thousand barrels of oil per day and store 5.1 million barrels
on our 466-acre complex.
Approach to responsible operations in pasadena
Chevron delivers success by building trusting relationships and protecting people and the environment.
Throughout Chevron, we work hard to be environmental stewards and promote open dialogue with our
community neighbors. We take product containment and pollution prevention seriously, putting strong focus
on the use of effective safeguards. Simply stated, we protect the environment through responsible operations.
Approach to community engagement
Chevron is committed to creating social and economic
value wherever we do business. Through local engagement,
we generate new opportunities for residents and help
communities reach their greatest potential.
By delivering operational excellence and engaging with the
community, we achieve Chevron’s vision to be the global
energy company most admired for its people, partnership
and performance.

We Love Our

Truck Drivers

Did you know that September 12 - 18 is Truck Driver Appreciation Week? This is a time when we can all honor

the professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in tackling one of our economy’s most
demanding and important jobs. There are over 3.5 million professional men and women who not only deliver
our goods safely, securely and on time, but they are also working to keep our highways safe for you and me to
travel on!

COVID-19 OUTBREAK SHINES LIGHT ON HOW INTEGRAL TRUCKERS ARE TO EVERYDAY LIFE
In an article written by Mark Schremmer with Land Line Magazine, truck drivers were hailed as heroes who
were among those who served on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the coronavirus wreaked
havoc on the nation’s health and economy, the necessity of truck drivers became all the more clear. OOIDA
President Todd Spencer said, “In reality, our nation’s truck drivers do this on a daily basis. They were delivering
important medical supplies, groceries and manufacturing materials long before COVID-19, and will continue
to do so long after the U.S. has recovered from the current crisis.”

As we were experiencing shortages of our everyday necessities, truck drivers put their own health and familiies
aside to get us the supplies we needed, without question. And not only us, but they were getting hospitals
and other medical care facilities the necessary shipments they needed, such as ventilators and surgical masks,
to help save lives.

TRUCK DRIVERS ARE ESSENTIAL
As we continue on with our day to day lives, it is important to remember that trucking and transportation
of goods are necessary for shipping containers at ports around the country to your local store. The US
Department of Homeland Security, who is the agency tasked with defining essential jobs, described truckers as
“critical infrastructure workers.” America’s infrastructure is held up by truck drivers. We need the transportation
industry to remain robust and active to maintain the basic needs of citizens. Truckers are hauling products to
hospitals, grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and construction sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week. Let’s not only celebrate truck drivers during the week of September 12-18, but always try to give them
the praise they deserve anytime the opportunity arises.

We are proud to have Clark Freight Lines as a member of our
Pasadena Chamber family. I recently asked Danny Schnautz
how he planned on celebrating with his truck drivers during
this special week, and he’s got a fun week planned for them
including hot meals everyday and some super cool gifts like
insulated cups, embossed duffle bags, tshirts and more! Danny
loves his truck drivers, and is very passionate about what they
do. Lets all show some love to our truck drivers next time you
see one! #truckdriverappreciation
