12. CONCLUSION

INTRODUCTION

Architectural site analysis, is the process of evaluating a particular locations physical, mental and social
characteristics with the ambition of developing an architectural solution that will both address and
enhance its internal and external context.
"To develop a project of any merit, its site must first be measured"
Every site is unique and will consist of many complex elements such as: varying topography, watercourses,
trees, plants, habitats, and weather patterns to name a few. All of which will and should influence an
architect’s design process and decision-making.

NATURAL PHYSICAL FEATURES

6 6.1 CONTOUR & SURFACE WATER RUNOFF

ANALYSIS

the contour shows the ground elevation is not very significant even though the
site is in a relatively steep area

SYNTHESIS

if we want to do construction we do not need much time to level the land or add
land in the area. But we can also use the existing land because the land in the
area is not very significant height

SURFACE WATER RUNOFF

As the rain continues, water reaching the ground surface infiltrates into the soil until it reaches
a stage where the rate of rainfall (intensity) exceeds the infiltration capacity of the soil.
Thereafter, surface puddles, ditches, and other depressions are filled with water (depression
storage) and after that overland flow as runoff is generated.

C – SLOPE AREA is the highest point of elevation

26 The slope of the earth should also
be planned so that excessive
deformation is not experienced

deformation that occurs does not
adversely affect the way it travels.

Landforms ate natural physical
features of the Earth’s surface. As
an element of topography, a
landform is defined by its shape,
location and how it was formed

6.4 MAJOR LAND FEATURES

Earth slopes should be designed to
maintain stability of conditions and load

The slope of the earth should also be
planned so that excessive deformation is
not experienced over a lifetime or so
that
the deformation that occurs does not
adversely affect the way it travels

The "design" of the earth's slope generally involves the selection of some of
the following combinations to produce a final slope that will meet the
performance requirements.

• Slope geometry to o include slope, slope width, and slope height
• Materials and methods o for providing appropriate surface drainage and

or groundwater.
• Slope material to include the selection of filling material for the
