The social evils like gender inequality, child labor and child marriage, communal hatred, caste blindness and dowry; economic problems like poverty, unemployment and economic exploitation ; and crimes like domestic violence, dowry deaths, rape, murder , rioting and loot have their origin in negative emotions, feelings and thoughts. Global Wellness Summit 2022 Shri Nitin Gadkariji on the 3rd day ofthe Global Wellness Summit-2022 Special Address by the Honorable Union Minister
The world has talked enough about religious, medical and spiritual education but India follows the wellness aspect mentioned in this Sanskrit shloka, Page 13 S Bh v n S n , S S n N r m y S Bha r Pa y n , M Kas i D Bha Bh e . domestic product[GDP]does not adequately reflects the happiness and well-being of people. Well -being of all people irrespective of economic status should be the key focus areas of industry, business, politics, and social forums. A broad framework of wellness Education should be prepared connecting all domains of wellness such as physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental .Our government is focusing on the development of basic infrastructure in the country to improve ease of living of citizens. Highway and road transport are the lifeline of every nation. Our ministry is developing massive road and transport infrastructure across the country. The road connectivity is the essential pillar of wellbeing and they bring prosperity to the region they pass through. It is very important reducing the Travel stress in a big way also connecting remote areas has helped citizens to access markets, hospitals, and educational institutes in the nearby towns While building all this infrastructure, we have kept our focus on ethics, ecology, and environment. One can be physically fit through healthy eating and good exercise. we need to be disciplined in life. I have been doing Yoga and Pranayam regularly and I started during Pandemic time. It helps me to keep myself and fresh and free from all types of stress. It has improved my immunity, and also increased my energy level. Yoga teaches the science of healthy and mindful living. It teaches us how to live in the stressful world. The Scientific Studies say that the yoga has multiple benefits on Physical and mental domains. Our focus should be on delivering value and best education. Schools, college and universities should provide license imparting The little meaning of this mantra is that everyone should be happy. Everyone should be in good health and everyone should be prosperous. The real sense is peace should prevail in the universe, in our hearts, in our health and among us everybody. May everyone be happy, May all be free from weakness and let everyone see the good around us. Let nobody have any sufferings either physically, mentally, or emotionally. we believe, and practice so. The concept of global community and unity originates from Maha Upnishad, Vasudhaiva kutumbakam that means the world is one family and that all people irrespective of diversity in culture, race ,language, gender and creed should live together like a family. No one should be discriminated based on the caste, creed, religion, and sex and there should be kindness and love for each other. The solution of every problem, such as poverty, unemployment, literacy, crime, diseases, and pollution is connected to well-being of people on this planet and hence it deserves due attention. It is very important now that the wellness becomes the agenda of every country. In the year 1972 The fourth King of Bhutan, King Jigme singye WangChuk declared Gross National happiness is more important than Gross domestic product. Bhutan follows the concept of Gross national happiness. It implies that the sustainable development should take a holistic approach towards the idea of progress, and give equal importance to aspect of well- being. The United Nations has recognized the happiness and well-being as the universal goal on 12Th July 2012 in its resolution 66/281. In the year 2013,The UN Secretary General released note on Happiness:towards a holistic approach to development” It recognized that that gross
Global Wellness Summit 2022 the responsible use of the Internet and social media, use of technology without compromising on health is very important. Spirituality is the soul of Indian culture. It says that the ultimate AIM of the man is not physical comforts but is self-realization. Everyone should deeply introspect to find the true meaning and purpose of their life. Doing good Karma is action without any expectations. It makes your life stress-free in the true sense. I strongly believe that the positive attitude and self- confidence are the most important assets in the life. Goodwill, credibility, honesty, and transparency are the biggest capital of 21s century. No one is perfect, and no one can claim that he is perfect. Consistent efforts lead to achieve our goal. If you are the only one becoming happy because of your success then it has no meaning. But if your success is bringing happiness to other people, then that is real success. I always say that the human relationship is very important and good relationship helps us develop an atmosphere of trust at workplace. I always give an example of mathematical equation We know the difference in formulas of [a+ b] square = A square + B square plus 2 A B. and that is because of the collective team spirit. In the social consciousness and social responsibility are important for inclusive and sustainable development of rural, tribal and remote areas which are socially economically and educationally backward is very important. It will help us create. : With these few words I compliment Global Wellness forum and Indian Forum of Educators for their contribution towards the betterment of the entire mankind. I wish you all a very healthy and prosperous life.

Global Wellness Summit 2022 Global Wellness: Needs Global Attention DR (HC) YOLANDA PETERSEN Group Executive Director - BEGET South Africa
upon both the physical and emotional needs of their employees. Anticipating the employees’ needs goes a long way in building morale, increasing loyalty, promoting productivity within the organization, and generally the overall well-being of the workplace and space. Effective leaders include and prioritize employee wellness programs in or as part of their umbrella strategy. Recognizing that these programs, however widely varied, depending on the needs and limitations of the organization is crucial. A key driver in maximizing the organization’s human capital in a mutually beneficial way. Wellness programs planned and implemented by leadership and reciprocated and actioned by employees is a “Win-Win” formula. Q: What is the role of a School Leader in creating consciousness to building social wellness in Schools? A: I have briefly touched on the importance of Leaders within organizations, though the environment differs, the subject matter remains constant! Whether we are referring to employees or students, at the heart of either sits Human Beings! Health and Education are interdependent. We simply cannot divorce these two components! It is proven that students learn better when they are healthy. Similarly, employees perform better when they are healthy. Within the context of a school environment, Schools have an essential role to play in supporting students in making healthy lifestyle choices. More importantly, steering learners in the direction where they understand the effects of their life choices on their health and well-being. Leaders within the school environment would do well in promoting, supporting, and encouraging wellbeing among learners. A few useful tips would be to (A) Listen to the students’ voices and allow them to explore; (B) Activism – activism is a great way to promote awareness of well-being amongst the students, their parents, and the larger community. Activism involves and includes – everyone! (C) As the Global Village winds down a whirlwind 2022 year, a year of non Covid-19 restrictions, disruptions and lockdowns. A year in which every citizen in every nation allowed themselves some leeway to breathe. That pause for breath triggered the necessary thought around our individual, societal and global well-being. The collective effort of rehabilitation and reconciliation of Body, Mind and Spirit, rebirthed. The direct correlation between Global Wellness and Human Values are indisputable. Being aware of our values and living in accordance with them has a significantly beneficial effect on our wellbeing. A society functions at optimum at the will of a healthy mindset. How is this attainable? Amongst other variables, Wellness Education (formal and informal education) and Continuous Dialogue! Healthy mind – Healthy Body – Healthy Life. The 2022 Global Wellness Summit was a spectacular display of prominent minds expounding upon topics relative to the holistic wellbeing of humanity in modern-day. Whenever there is a humanitarian need – there should, effectively, be a call to action. Mandatory responsibilities of Leaders across spectrum. Q: What is the role of a Leader in promoting social wellness? A: Leadership is ALL about relationships! GOOD Leadership involves building healthy, nurturing, and supportive relationships. GREAT Leadership – fosters genuine connection. In light of social wellness – the manner in which a leader interacts with others matters! What matters, even more, is Consistency! Working on building relationships from the top-down. The effects of such leadership influence relations from the bottom-up. Impacting positively on the organization’s overall culture and employee fit. Leaders must be cognizant and ready to act Page 19
Teachers and Staff to lead by example by modeling: healthy behaviours; healthy relationships; positive interaction. I am of the belief that if students see adults modeling virtues such as integrity, accountability, and positive communication they are likely to pickup on these cues and follow suit. Q: How do we create the right balance in promoting social wellness in our immediate environments? A: A strong support system has a positive influence on our overall well-being. It is vital to surround ourselves with good people! When we speak of “Environment” we generally tend to refer to either or all of the (3) types: Internal Environment/ External Environment / External Micro Environment. Since we predominantly flow within our immediate environment, “W es E uca i i NE D H ” Global Wellness Summit 2022 it will serve us well to strive to create a balance of wellness within our personal space. Creating a balance between work-life-familyrelationships and self are all equally important! A little planning goes a long way! Taking care spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, and physically is the best gift we can give ourselves. The gift of life! The routine of Self-Care practice is important. Bringing intentionality and mindfulness to our self-care routines is rewarding. Engaging in hobbies or extra-mural activities reduces stress and certainly strikes a better work-life balance. We have control over our immediate environment! Creating healthy routines [Sleeping routines, eating habits, exercise/ physical activity, lifestyle habits], positively impacts self and others around us! Maintaining a routine is hard work and it takes commitment, but the benefits could be the difference between Life and Death!
Page 21 Accountability to the Well-being of Mankind is the Need ofthe Hour DR. VEDPRAKASH MISHRA Professor of Excellence, Professor of Eminence, Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Professor Dr. B. C. Roy National Awardee,D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) by Seven Universities I am extremely thankful to talk to all the members of the Organizing Committee for giving me this opportunity of being a part of this Global Wellness Summit which is deliberating on social wellness for the last 3 days and the various learned resource persons must have contributed in a very big way the entire gamut of discussions and deliberation that system undergone in these 3 days. I also heard on the speaking out to the part of appreciation for this wellness summit and therefore with profound sense of thankfulness and gratitude and complementing the organizers for really taking up a very desired initiative on invocation of this global summit on the theme, which perhaps is a warranted need of the entire global humanity. Ladies and gentlemen, we need to recall for ourselves that we contemplate health and when you contemplate health to begin with as a human right which later on has been converted as a fundamental right agreeable to every global citizen then we need to decipher for ourselves, and very rightly, the world health
Global Wellness Summit 2022 intellectual well- being of the global population, social well-being of the global population and lastly, the spiritual well-being of the global population. These are the 5 important arms which have been catalogued and categorized for defining the state of wellbeing. When we say that health is a fundamental right guaranteed to every global citizen and what is the operational meaning and ambit of it. It’s not just a physical health which is guaranteed in the domain of wellbeing .The guarantee contemplates the fundamental right of every global citizen, therefore, entitled him or her a complete state of well -being which mandates it ought to be physical state of well- being, emotional state of well- being, intellectual state of well -being, social state of well -being and spiritual state of well- being. The entitlement is absolutely a group. In terms of these 5 important dimensions of Wellness, whether we have been in a position to achieve it or not is a 1 billion dollar question. Is Right to health a Fundamental right? Right to health is a part and parcel of Right to Life and therefore, is fundamental right guaranteed to every citizen of India under article 21 of the Constitution of India The 17 Sustainable Development Goals which have been articulated, Goal number -3 of Sustainable development Goals ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. This world has benefited into realization that ultimately it’s the total state of well- being which is accurate to every global citizen, and it must be guaranteed. A world which is plagued by inequities, a world which is plagued by scarcity of resources, a world which is plagued by the economic status of the various countries being at different levels, a world which is absolutely differentiated into any number of demarcations in such a differentiated world. By then the mechanisms, the modalities which entitled the guarantee of total well- being are accessible, available, amenable, and affordable to the global citizens, turns out to be the second important task. But more important than that which I am has been defined by the World Health Organization very categorically, very critically, and very clearly and perhaps the contours which are incorporated in it. They speak volumes about the theme that we are discussing today in this valid conversation. Contemplate the definition of health as code. Health is not just an absence of disease .And this is the important premises which I’m telling you that if we do not have disease, and you and we do not have infirmity that does not mean that you and me are healthy. Therefore the definition is opening with the negative statement that it does not just mean an absence of an infirmity or a disease. It means something more vital, and in the next read the definition says it is a complete state of health. The definition is of the word health and the operational controls which are contemplated toward the health is only in one negative statement, and that is not an absent, not just an absence of disease, or in a complete state of well- being which goes to indicate that well- being in the contemplated part of the definition of the word health in terms of the global acceptance of definition of the same. And then what is the total sense of well- being? It has been particularly categorized, and it has been catalogued into distinct area in a total sense of well -being which includes and that is important physical well- being, mental wellbeing. Well, the emotional well –being, social well- being and spiritual well- being uncovered. Therefore, when we are talking of the world, we are guaranteeing the definition of the health, the complete state of well -being. And what exactly is the ambit of that wellness or wellbeing? It has been defined very categorically and this definition was adopted with the consent of 193 participating countries and therefore the ambit of the word wellness is absolutely crystallized in a global way. When we are contemplating wellness, it is an absolute state of wellness which includes physical well- being of the global population, emotional well -being of the global population,
Page 23 there to in any form, in any manner, in any mode which come with the obstacles and bottlenecks they have to be done away with, and they have to be tidied over, for which the various wellness programs, even in the domain of all skills of health, are there to take care of the same. Another important dimension which is required to be taken note of is social Ladies and gentlemen! Once upon a time we thought that this whole humanity and intellectual proposition of the man will be governed by measurement. IQ, an intelligent quotient was one of the important cardinal parameters of defining the entire state. Ladies and gentlemen! Over a period of time in the context of absolute wellness it has been realized that the balance is required to be struck among 3 important portions, and they are here the intellectual portion, the emotional portion and the spiritual portion .If you take into consideration social health, emotional health, and spiritual health. They are very intimately integrated with each other. In my humble understanding, just as we are congratulating a health in terms of the journey outward there is a journey inward, and that is realizing for self the deeper meaning and essence of life. Purpose of life has to be converted into meaning of life. Man is entitled to be leading a blissful life. This entitlement is possible. Global wellness which alone is capable of making this mother planet Earth a better place for human habitation alone is going to be a real paradigm, changing cause and reason for that particular alternation, I trust and believe and this particular wellness Summit is one of the laudable steps in invocation of that larger board for the purpose of invocation, of total global wellness in the sense of it. In nutshell, my entire postulate of this particular humble address to this learned gathering is that positive state of well- being is not enough. The responsibility and accountability to overall well-being of mankind is the need of the hour. It is very rightly brought in by Honble. Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari ji that Bhutan is the pioneering raising is that making the understanding of wellness loud and clear to each and every one, in order to realize as to what we are entitled to, and in that what exactly the role and responsibility that all of us are required to be playing on that particular right is exercising only when the awareness of that right is known to the targeted beneficiaries in terms of their knowledge, in terms of their understanding, in terms of their recipients, in terms of the having an attitude positive towards it in terms of negotiation, of a behavioural alteration which is mandated for the said purpose, and in terms of realizing that even they are required to be participating in fulfilment of this actualization of their both as an individual jointly and similarly it’s understanding. I think this, ladies and gentlemen! The whole concept of wellness, a total sense of well- being has to be disciplined, for which I believe that this Global Summit is there, so to be a great vocal point of invocation of the required levels of awareness to be percolated down as a matter of positive and pragmatic message to the entire society as a whole. The basic core operational phenomenon which has to be made very loud and clear, is only learning is not intellectual health. Scientific publications bring out that learning is only one part of intellectual health. Learning is the primary part of it but unlearning is an equal important part of it, and lifelong learning which is put across, in my humble opinion, it is the edifice of intellectual health. What I have blended with this is that another very important task which has to be taken, is not covered in the definition of the word health is Occupational well-being. And is in that context the cardinal dictum which is expected to be governing the occupational wellbeing is a sense of enjoyment in the doings that we are doing. The individual must be adhered to enjoying what he or she does and he or she does what he or she enjoys. This is the simple dictum of the occupational health. Any impediments
country, that way back in 1972, gave an index to the world for the purposes of measurement of wellness, and that was Gross Happiness Index, it was stated that it is more important than GDP .Therefore it is not mere materialism. It is a realism which is blended in spiritualism, and then the materialism and spiritualism are branded together .Then, in that sense it is a collective phenomenon of emotional well -being blended with intellectual well -being articulated under physical well -being, and resulting in a total well -being, and that total well-being is wellness. Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen, for giving me this opportunity of putting my straight thoughts across on to this particular phenomenon. Thank you very much. God bless you all! Global Wellness Summit 2022
Why Is Self-Care So Difficult To Practice ROBERT J. THOMPSON Ph.D., CHA, TMP-USA Self-care is a vital part of our physical, mental, and emotional health. In recent years, self-care has risen to a higher awareness as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, mandated quarantining, decreased social interaction, and other highly stressful factors. Self-care is widely recognized as the activities an individual takes to enhance their physical, emotional, spiritual health, as well as their quality of life. These behaviors can range from food choices, physical activity, quality of sleep, and more as we strive to establish, maintain, and promote good health. Additionally, effective self-care habits help us manage stress, deal with our emotions and anxiety, as well as stay healthy and at the top of our game. At a time when self-care should be a part of everyone’s daily routine, it not. For those that are focused on self-care, they don’t know exactly what it entails and how to implement it. Riegel et al. (2021) identified 139 different definitions of selfcare. Multiple terms are often used synonyms for self-care. These terms range from selfmanagement, self-monitoring to self-help. Little progress has been made to provide clarity since then to find an established a uniform definition that integrates the related concepts. However, Orem (2001) highlights that self-care is the process of acting on one’s own behalf to Page 25
may mean that we address suppressed personal issues, add another item to our “todo” list, we don’t think it is that important and/ or we don’t know how. Lastly, self-care and personal compassion so difficult to practice because we often confuse indulgence with self-care, and when neglected it is difficult to self-care when we are not at our best. This perception occurs because some people practice self-care by spending money on expensive high-priced items, going to the spa, having a grand vacation, etc. Actions, such as these, contribute to the perception that self-care is indulgence. It’s important to note that self-care is personal. It’s our choice as to what actions are needed care for ourselves. No one knows you better than you. Each of us handle our emotions, stress, relationships, health and life differently. Comprehending the influences of each are important. Research shows that engaging in a self-care routine has been proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, minimize stress, and increase happiness. However, self-care takes work and requires a committed routine. Much like an automobile, humans require routine “maintenance.” The beneficial effects of selfcare include improved well-being and lower morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs (Riegel et al., 2021). Therefore, each of us needs to develop an action plan to maintain, monitor, and manage in order to preserve or improve our personal health and well-being thereby helping us better adapt to change, handle stress, manage our emotions, build strong relationships, and recover from setbacks in our life. The Guilford Press. maintain or improve one’s health and wellbeing. Each of us, whether healthy or not should make self-care a priority. Self-care by design can be challenging as most are a novice when it comes to self-care. Additionally, many will consider the process of self-care to be a daunting and/or overwhelming task. We understand that self-care is important for both physical and mental health; however, we simply struggle to follow through when it comes to maintaining a healthy balanced diet, exercise regimen, and regular sleep routine. As a result, our physical and mental health falls out of balance with our mind and body ultimately affecting our over-all wellness and optimal functioning. Possible consequences of no self-care range from: Lack of energy, low motivation, difficulty concentrating, increased stress, health problems, poor mental health, and conflict in personal relationships. Further, it is easy to be hard on ourselves. Often, we are quick to blame, criticize, and “beat ourselves up” for something we regret. It’s the immediate response, and we do it more often than we realize. To quote Dr. Kristen Neff, pioneer in self-compassion research and author of Self-Compassion, “Instead of mercilessly judging and criticizing yourself for various inadequacies or shortcomings, selfcompassion means you are kind and understanding when confronted with personal failings - after all, who ever said you were supposed to be perfect?” We need to learn to recognize when we are experiencing difficulties, and forgive ourselves more often, accept our perceived flaws, show ourselves some kindness, and practice self-compassion. So, why don’t more of us practice self-care? From an early age, we are conditioned to put others before self. Through our life experiences, we learn to be responsible and to put others’ needs before your own (Young et al., 2003). Meaning when we prioritize those in our lives, our ranking falls to the bottom of the totem pole by default. Further complicating the issue is that we often feel if put ourselves first, we are putting others last. Even more so, self-care Global Wellness Summit 2022

Global Wellness Summit 2022 and young children – they all breathe deeply. Third point is laughing and stay in a joyous mood throughout the day. I know it is easier said than done – but if you put our will into it to decide to stay happy and laughing for all we see throughout the day – this will increase our internal energy as well. In the morning, I miss breakfast and when I wake up I drink 700ml of hot water. In 30 minutes ,I drink another 700ml of hot water + lemon juice – this helps our liver detox. In my research – the most important organ is the liver – because he purifies the blood and if the blood is in bad shape then all organs suffer. My first food is usually a fruit about 11-11:30 am or green smoothy + fruit. First Before that while still in bed I do the Silva Method – I recommend you to read Jose Silva’s book. As this method makes your brain work better and with his exercises and visualisations – help you achieve your goals. So best will be to read the book and do the exercises – but my understanding plus adding my research is – counting from 50 – 1 slowly with deep breaths and then start visualising your dream with the understanding that it has already happened – plus feeling of thankfulness. For example see your disease disappear with giving thanks to the creator for this and feeling what would you do if it has disappeared. Second Then I do couple of breathing exercises I learned from the Art of Living – I highly recommend this course. The way I do it is documented here: 3 stage pranayama, preferably sitting in Vajrasana (diamond pose),Ujjayi breathing, counting 4-4-6-2 (breathe in-4 counts, hold-4 counts, breathe out-6 counts and hold-2counts) in each round. First stage: (palms on the hip bone, fingers straight) 8-10 rounds, relax for a few seconds. Second stage: (thumbs in the arm pits, fingers straight out on the chest) 8-10 rounds, relax for a few seconds. Third stage: (palms on the My name is Deyan Stanchev, I am from Bulgaria and I have been interested in living a life without sickness and willing to increase my vital and spiritual energy with each day.I realised that I need to take care of my health when my dad had a stroke and remained paralysed back in 2008. I have never seen him being sick and this was a shock to me. I was 27 at that time. Then I gave myself a promise not to allow such an event to happen to me and to investigate all sources I can find to create a system that will help me live longer and live healthier my life through changing my way of life.In the next 30 minutes I will tell you my daily practices and changes I have made in my life and will give you links to follow to get in more details into the practices and read some of the books that I think are most knowledgeable. First we need to differentiate between physical health and spiritual health. My recent findings thought me that the emotions and feelings are actually creating the diseases which in time will appear in the physical world. And through changing of eating habits like reducing food intake, missing breakfast, doing intermittent fasting and doing water or dry fasts one day a week, doing breathing exercises, physical exercises and mental exercises, will change how we feel and thus help us have purer emotions.I will give you three ways to raise your vibrations. First one is by eating food that comes from the sun light – this is plant based food. We are eating sun energy in the forms of plants and fruits and seeds. People who eat dairy or fish and meat – eat also sun energy that has been absorbed from the animals from their food – like grass, GMO corn or soya. So staying as much as possible to organic plant based food will raise our energy. Very important point here is not to over eat. Second is something even simpler – breathing deeply. If we spend a day 10-15 minutes just stay and focus on our breath and breathe deeply we will slowly create a habit of breathing deeply. Pay attention of the babies
Page 29 shoulder blade, elbows pointing to ceiling) 6-8 rounds, then relax. Bhastrika pranayama (Bellows breath), Continue to sit in vajrasana (diamond pose), normal breathing. Loose fists, besides the shoulders, with the in-breath throw the hands up and open the fists, with the outbreath let the hands fall down to the ribs, close the fists-this makes 1 round. Do this for 20rounds-relax for a few seconds, repeat for another 20rounds-relax and finally 20rounds and relax. Third I go outside – on the balcony – so that my circadian rhythm can start – this means my eyes will see the sunlight outside the window and this will help me get a good night sleep. Same is good to be done by staying outside and view the sunlight 1 hour before sunset. While sitting outside for 20 min – I do the Wim Hoff method breathing Fourth I do the 5 Tibetians – they are yogic exercises and take no more than 5 minutes to do them. Here is the link how they are done: https://www.healthline.com/health/5-tibetanrites#bottom-line Fifth Through the day find 10-15 min time to do a meditation – it can be done also before you go to sleep. The app that helped me get into the habit of doing it is 1 Giant Mind and here is a link to download it on your phone: https://www.1giantmind.com/ Whenever I start to feel that I get sick – I stop eating and drink only hot water or just reduce my food for the day. This is something I noticed my son was doing and then I realised it is the right way to do it – we just don’t user our energy to digest but to fight the pathogen. On top of that you can add to it tablets with Zing, Magnesium and Vitamin C. On top of that if you are able to remove the white stuff – like no flour, no sugar, no salt (sea salt is good), no packaged foods and for spiritual development no meat you will be in good path. One of the best things you can do is every week or every second week do a 32 hours water fast to get your body detox. More on this topic can read Paul Bragg’s books on fasting – he lived to 81 years of age and was surfing till his death. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Miracle-FastingProven-Throughout-History-ebook/dp/ B004TNHEOO It’s a very good thing for all to research how to detox the liver and to be done on a regular basis. And last but not least are our emotions. Our invisible field is damaged by the feelings of hatred, envy, insult, killing our love or the love of someone towards us and hurting others. A research has been amongst people that have lived over 100 years and all the people were having different diet. The only one common thing amongst all was their kindness, joy towards life and forgiveness to others and thus not feeling hurt inside.

instead, to strive for a “personal harmony” that feels most authentic to us. We naturally have our own priorities, approaches, and aspirations, including our own views of what it means to live life fully. Due to remarkable shift in the understanding of wellness now the wellness dimensions have been brought to limelight and wellness is being related to quality of life and life satisfaction. It is believed that an improvement in one component of wellness may go on to positively affect the whole person. Research leaves us with a strong conviction: Improving health could be a societal and economic game changer. After all, few investments meet so many of today’s social needs, substantially improving well-being and reducing inequity, while also delivering an impressive shot in the arm to the global economy. As the world confronts the pandemic, it has a once-in-ageneration opportunity not merely to restore the past but also to advance broad-based health and prosperity dramatically. Let’s make sure we seize it. The past is history; the present and future lie in the choices you make today. Don’t worry about getting it perfect; just get it going, and become the best kind of person you can be. People often think about wellness in terms of physical health — nutrition, exercise, weight management, etc., but it is so much more. Wellness is a holistic integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit. Wellness is a dynamic, everchanging, volatile process. Although it always includes striving for health, it’s more about living life fully, and is “a lifestyle and a personalized approach to living life in a way that… allows you to become the best kind of person that your potential, circumstances, and destiny will allow”. Wellness necessitates good self-stewardship, for ourselves and for those we care about and who care about us. The World Health Organization defines wellness as “the optimal state of health of individuals and groups. According to the WHO, wellness has two cardinal concerns, which are the achievement of individuals’ fullest potentials physically, psychologically, socially, spiritually and economically, and carrying out individuals’ expectation in the family. Wellness encompasses 10 mutually interdependent dimensions: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, Vocational, Financial, Environmental, Cultural, and Climate. Attention must be given to all the dimensions, as neglect of any one over time will adversely affect the others, and ultimately one’s health, well-being, and quality of life. They do not, however, have to be equally balanced. We should aim, Page 31

student well-being at school. This can be done in a number of subtle ways, the combination of which can have a significant impact on the well-being of the pupils. Schools should be able to give all members of the school community the chance to take part in meaningful decision-making, create a friendly environment where everyone can feel supported and safe by participating in authentic activities. Effective teaching strategies could contribute to a positive classroom climate and well-being. Cognitive neurosciences could offer great support in the pursuit of creating a school with healthy well-balanced and efficient learners. By offering insight into brain functions, they give us solutions that can apply to teaching methods, nutrition and organizing the school schedule in accordance with the human biorhythms in a way that promotes learning and mental health. Nowadays that humanity has faced health and other kind of crisis, the mental and physical health of learners are being challenged. With the knowledge of neuroeducation, we can overcome the challenges and obstacles and we can restore the balance in order for schools to operate in an optimal way. According to neurobiology, fear and threat response are complex phenomena. The brain regions involved in threat response and fear are not organized into a single fear circuit but by several circuits in parallel. In general, children are more vulnerable to fear. Below there are some suggestions and brainbased techniques to teachers in order for them to cope with these difficult times but also help them in their daily school life. Brain-based learning refers to instructional strategies, lesson plans, and educational initiatives that are based on the most recent findings in neuroscience regarding how the brain learns, including aspects like cognitive development, or how students learn differently as they get older, grow, and mature. 1. Apply brain-based learning/teaching Well-being, as well as health and nutrition, are very important in education. Healthy children and adolescents are better learners and they become healthier and more productive adults. Therefore, investing in health, nutrition and well-being is as important as investing in education programs, facilities and teachers. This means that resources in education expenditures must substantially increase. Wellbeing is a broad concept and covers a range of psychological and physical abilities: emotional, physical, social, workplace and societal wellbeing. Schools could provide meals, health services and information about diseases and healthy way of living, which is very important for the health improvement of students and their families. Furthermore, this could protect students from infectious diseases by teaching them the basics about the prevention of infections. In this case, the use of available evidence plays a crucial role in decisionmaking. Moreover, mental illnesses are on the rise due to the recent global health crisis. COVID-19 pandemic took a heavy toll on children’s mental health due to the lack of social engagement and contact. Children missed school and recreational activities, they struggled with remote learning and lack of learning supports. Research reports many mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, stress, post-traumatic stress, etc. among children. The formative years of childhood and adolescence are crucial in the development of long-term attitudes toward one’s own wellbeing and lifestyle preferences. Young people acquire social and emotional competencies, and behaviors in the classroom that support resilience development. Therefore, a framework needs to be established for managing their physical and mental health. Helping kids feel that they are cherished as individuals, that school life has meaning, and purpose for them is the first step in addressing Page 33
strategies The times we are going through are challenging for the human brain so brainbased teaching is the key to success. 2. Create communities and support system The lower the stress is, the better the learning process is. The most rational decision-making part of our cortex, the pre-frontal cortex, is affected in a negative way by hormones during prolonged stress. Therefore, our capacity of decision-making and critical thinking is partially disabled by fear and stress. For this reason, it is important to create communities and enable social caring measures, prior to teaching sessions. When students are isolated, they face psychosocial challenges that need to be addressed. 3. Take action to counteract powerlessness Action is the best remedy for teachers and students since fear causes feeling of powerlessness, which in turn causes inactivity and passivity. By encouraging students to take action, teachers train their brain to repeatedly release dopamine, enhancing their energy levels. 4. Establish a new routine It is important to implement a new routine. Children need a structure in their daily lives and a well-organized schedule in online classes is important so that children will keep making progress. 5. Develop social skills Our brain is social, it evolves and learns through interaction and experiences with others. Learning cannot progress well when students feel isolated and lonely. 6. Be honest and straightforward in your communication Try to explain to students in ways suitable for their age about the current events that make it necessary for people to stay home. 7. Create positive emotions The role of emotion in learning is very important. Everything we learn is influenced and organized by emotions and states of mind. Feelings and thoughts shape each other and they cannot be separated. Our brain is social, it evolves and learns through interaction and experiences with others. Learning cannot progress well when students feel isolated and lonely. The brain seems to like learning from others. Natural development alone is not enough. Social distancing is only physical and it should not lead to isolation. 8. Make learning pleasant Human brain seeks pleasure. The pleasure centre of the brain, where the reward circuit is located, tends to desire the repetition of the stimulus or experience that causes pleasure. Every pleasant piece of information can cause the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that causes feelings of euphoria in the brain with the production of endorphins and activates the limbic system. Learning is reinforced by challenge and inhibited by threat. Challenging activities could increase attention and improve memorisation. Human brain learns optimally-makes a maximum number of connections- when it is intrinsically motivated. Intrinsic motivation is also necessary for student creativity. 9. Develop self-awareness Encourage students to express their feelings and promote self-awareness. In this way, tension will be reduced and learning will reach an optimal level. 10. Create a safe environment Our brain seeks security so we have to reassure students that everything is going to be alright. 11. Plan your sessions carefully Planning should depend on the situation and students’ needs. 12. Adopt an appropriate methodology The appropriate methodology should be based on the recent findings of neuroeducation. 13. Give your students feedback Feedback to students is important but overloading parents with excessive amounts of Global Wellness Summit 2022
challenging homework should be avoided. 14. Be a brainchanger Remember that teachers are brain changers and great teachers can restructure human brains under any circumstances. Efficient learning is not possible without health and well-being. Schools should support students to develop social and emotional skills and talents that contribute to long-term mental health and wellness, the ability to solve problems and cope with everyday challenges, maintain healthy relationships and cooperate with others, and feel autonomous and creative. Brain health and functions cannot be ignored when we plan education programs and we set up an educational system in general. Educational neuroscientists are discovering a lot about the idea of learning by working directly in schools. When children realize how their brains change as they learn new things, their perspective on school learning could shift drastically. Through understanding how students’ brains actually work and applying this information to boost classroom learning we may be able to significantly improve classroom teaching and better prepare children to face the complexities of the uncertain future. infused with high-vibration energy. Raising our energy vibration is of vital importance for our physical and mental wellness. The Twin hearts meditation flushes out our system negative thoughts and negative emotions are stored in our energetic centres. This meditation has many benefits, for example, it produces serotonin, and inner peace it calms down negative thoughts and negative emotions, improves focus, and sharps the mind because part of the energy generated by the meditation activates also the cells of the brain. Twin Hearts Meditation is practiced by millions of people worldwide and is the number 1 life couch in the world Tony Robbins has incorporated this powerful tool in almost all his workshops. in 2019 Pranic Healing Greece conducted research in the work environment on the effects of Twin Hearts Meditation on the employees mental & physical well-being. The main goal was to measure the level of stress and productivity before and after the practice of Twin Hearts Meditation. After 8 weeks of practice, the results were impressive. Stress reduced and productivity increased. We need to understand that our thoughts and emotions affect our mental well-being. We are also often contaminated by the energy field of the people around us. The key is always to keep our energy on a high vibration so that lower energies cannot affect us. This happens because the same energies attract each other while different energies will never meet. In Pranic Psychotherapy we learn how to control our lower nature which creates lower thoughts and emotions such as anger, resentment fear, sadness, etc…The techniques are simple and easy to apply. You will find a Pranic Healing centre near your area and you can validate how it truly can change your life. The main Purpose of Pranic Healing is “to alleviate the suffering of the people by complementing allopathic medicine with Pranic Energy healing.” Pranic Healing is a highly developed and tested system of energy-based healing techniques that utilizes “prana” to balance, harmonize and transform the body’s energy processes. Master Choa Kok Sui created this healing method 40 years ago in the Philippines and now it is welldeveloped in more than 120 countries. In 2016 Pranic Healing was awarded as the most effective energy healing method used at the emergency department of the St.Joseph Hospital in New Jersey. What is Pranic Healing? “Prana” is a Sanskrit word that means “life force”. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as “Chi”. It is also called “Ruah” or the “Breath of Life” in the Old Testament. Pranic Healing is a simple yet powerful and effective no-touch energy healing. It is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a “selfrepairing” living entity that possesses the innate ability to heal itself.Pranic Healing works on the principle that the healing process is accelerated by increasing the life force or vital energy on the affected part of the physical body. Pranic Healing influences this natural life force to bring about a healthier physical body. Pranic Psychotherapy is the application of Pranic Healing to Psychological imbalances such as depression, panic attack phobia, trauma, addictions, and much more…Pranic Healing can help to keep good mental wellbeing and it can be used as preventive healing. I would to share with you the benefits of the Twin Hearts Meditation by Master Choa Kok Sui which is an incredible instrument for wellbeing. It aims to activate two energy centres: the energy centre of the heart and the energy centre of the crown. The 1st one is the centre of human love and the crown is the centre of unconditional love. When both are activated the body starts to produce serotonin and on the energy level, the whole energy field is Page 39
Global Wellness Summit 2022 How to Curb the Rising Mental Illness? DR. KOMALPREET KAUR (Chairperson & Psychologist) Institute of Psychometric Assessment & Counselling, Delhi
Mental Health and Children The pandemic has affected the lives of children and young people worldwide. Mental health is an important part of children’s overall health and well-being. It affects how children think, feel, and act. It also plays a role in how children handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. According to Diana Rafailova, mental health problems have been on the rise since the pandemic. It was already increasing before the pandemic, but the pandemic amplified the problem. One of the reasons is the use of social media. Social media has reached every age group during the pandemic. Children are especially exposed to it at such a tender age when they are unable to fully comprehend the ill effects of it. Cases of ADHD have increased manifold due to short attention spans in children. Cases of depression, anxiety, and stress have increased especially in children after the pandemic hit. The USA had to declare a national emergency in 2021 due to the declining mental health of children. Numerous children were admitted to the ER for mental breakdowns and suicidal attempts. Warning signs of mental illness in children Diana discussed the three major warning signs of mental illness in children - social withdrawal, academic decline, and change in functioning. For these signs to get noticed and addressed, teachers and parents should be educated and trained. There are some subtle changes as well, such as regular headaches and stomach aches. Other symptoms include negative selftalk, sudden anger outbursts, etc. Parents’ and teachers’ role in supporting the child to cope with the mental illness Parents should be proactive and observant to be able to notice warning signs in their children. Children nowadays have a completely occupied schedule and routine that does not allow them any leisure time throughout the day. They get exhausted by the end of the day and wake up exhausted, the cycle continues. On this Diana suggested the utmost need for Mental Health is as important as physical health. But people often ignore their mental health and keep on struggling in silence. As per WHO, around 20% of the world’s children and adolescents have a mental health condition, with suicide being the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds. Approximately one in five people are suffering from anxiety, depression, and such mental health issues. Therefore, there is an utmost need to curb this rising mental illness. Thus, the discussion was carried out on the same with Mr. Ross Swan, Ms. Diana Rafailova, and Ms. Herdiana Dewi Nurfica. Mental Health and Economic Performance As the discussion progressed, Mr. Swan expressed his viewpoint on the rising mental illness and how it is affecting the economic performance of the country. According to him, one of the main reasons for rising mental illness is the general attitude of people nowadays to not address what they are going through. People generally follow the popular notion of ignoring their mental well-being and turning to their professional life to fill up the void left after not being in touch with their emotions. The rise of social media is another reason for the rising mental illness as the number of faceless bullies has increased multifold. Before the advent of social media, the number of bullies was limited to one’s social vicinity. After the advent of social media, a lot of people bully online without the fear of being held accountable. This anonymity and backlash from strangers leave a great impact on the victims of cyberbullying, which results in rising mental illness issues. He further added that the rising mental illness problem is negatively impacting the overall productivity of the country. A country cannot perform and produce to the highest potential when there are issues of rising mental illness. He further discussed the challenges within the mental health sector. People are not proactively participating in mental health conversations. Proactive participation is essential to end the stigma. It is extremely important to talk with people about it not to talk to them but to talk with them, extending support for them in their struggle by being beside them. Page 41
Global Wellness Summit 2022 proactive participation by parents and teachers in children’s activities to help them prevent mental illness. If prevention is not possible, active participation and observation of children’s life is the best way to cope with it. Introducing a 5-minute meditation in their schedule in the morning and encouraging them to maintain a gratitude journal for each day is the best way to help them cope with it. School’s role in promoting mental well being According to Herdiana Dewi, the unseen pressure of getting good grades to be in a good college, and to get a good job, creates a lot of mental pressure on the child’s mental health. She suggested raising awareness in school-going children regarding mental health is to being part of peer support groups. It will help in lessening that pressure and makes the child feel that they are not alone in their battle. She further added that by encouraging talks and conversations we can end the stigma around mental illness. Because the main reason people don’t reach out for their mental health issues is the fear of being judged and misunderstood. Stories of people who have overcome their mental health issues should be told so that others become aware of it. Conversations surrounding mental health should be a part of our daily lives, not just once or twice a year. Tips to boost mental health Herdiana suggested some tips to boost mental health. The first tip is eight hours of sleep because sleep is the most important thing in one’s life. The second is being healthy. Being healthy makes you feel better about yourself. The third is taking care of one’s body. Regular exercise is important as it releases endorphins in the system. It also makes one healthier and happier. The fourth tip is to find out things one enjoys, to find some new activity or revive an old one, and to spend quality time with family. Take Away: Thus, rising mental illness can be curbed by the proactive participation of parents in children’s lives. Active observation on the part of the teacher of the students presents in her class so that any warning signs can be immediately addressed. One must also include activities like meditation and gratitude journaling as part of their routine to be able to appreciate the little things in life and be present mindfully. Students must be encouraged to be part of peer groups in which mental health issues are discussed regularly. A regular discussion about the same must be a part of one’s daily life so the stigma surrounding mental health gradually ends. The tips to boost mental health are to sleep for at least eight hours, be healthy, take care of your body, and find things one enjoys.
Teenaged minds and their Emotional Issues DR.SONAL JAIN JAYASWAL Spiritual and Wellness Coach, Mumbai Page 43
Global Wellness Summit 2022 years old and she spent a lot of years living with her grandparents in lot of the anger and resentment. There was a lack of receiving unconditional love from her parents who were extremely strict and imposed all their decision on her. She shared an example that when she was just 8 or so she wanted to go to a hip hop school in town, while her mom signed her up for Ballet, which she did for a year hating every moment of it and feeling horrible. Throughout her childhood that was constantly denied the things that she wanted. and that created a lot of anger inside of her. But also when she was trying to express her emotions, she was not allowed and told that showing emotion is a sign of weakness. So she grew up learning to suppress her emotions, instead of healthily releasing them and dealing with them correctly. So, after accumulating all these emotions in herself for years she became quite angry and aggressive as a teenage which eventually led her to being more and more bitter and more and more resentful in the world in general, and that led her to depression. Depression according to Ms Sasha is basically a complete disconnection from your true self . It was horrifying time for Ms Sasha and she resolved that no one should go through this and that’s why she became transformational coach, and started focussing on releasing emotions as stress and unreleased emotion cause up to 95% of sicknesses these days. Dr Sonal added another perspective by adding that when it comes to parents, they always find that whatever they are doing is in the best interest of their kids and they know it all. So when Ms Sasha’s mother wanted to send her for learning Ballet then probably because she felt that it will be the best for her but unfortunately it was the other way round which led her towards depression and created identity issues in her. Dr Jayaswal then moved on to Ms Sara as how she is using her own experiences and using them for healing people. She was asked to share her experiences as a teenager because she deals a lot with young minds. Ms Sara resonated a lot with Ms Sasha as she Teenaged mind and its Emotional issues is a very relevant topic especially in today’s fast changing times wherein an enriching panel discussion was moderated by Dr Sonal Jain Jayaswal, a spiritual & wellness coach and a garbhsanskar expert specialising in working on the Spiritual Quotient across ages with the esteemed panelists including Ms Monica Anil kukreja , Principal of Poddar International School Navsari with 21 years of experience serving at various Corporate Groups of Institutions, Ms Sara Jane, the Master of Voice and creator of Vocal Reiki, founder of Gift of Healing TV, and an International Speaker, and Author and Ms Sasha Tarasova, a transformational coach, business mindset coach, emotional release expert, energy healer, and mental health advocate. The discussion kicked off with Dr Jayaswal asking Madam Kukreja about her experience of handling teenagers over the years. Ms Kukreja started very beautifully saying if you remove the weed then the flower and the garden will grow, and it will look nice, similarly you have to remove all the negative effects from the children by giving them a proper guidance, path, or a roadmap in front of them guiding them on how to walk and where to reach. She further added that we already had this when we went through our phases so it’s best to enjoy this phase with them, and that is how we can bring them back to us. After such a beautiful start by Madam Kukreja, Dr Jayaswal moved on to Miss Sasha. As a teenager, Ms. Sasha herself was very impulsive, which actually led her to depression when she was at the age of 24. But then she regained with a positive mind, and with a very strong desire to come back and resolve things in her life. So the question posed to Miss Sasha was what actually went through when she was facing these kind of issues and how she dealt about it. Ms Sasha went down her memory lane where as a teenager she remember to be extremely angry at the world specifically at my mom. Her parents were divorced when she was just 2
Page 45 also had a traumatic childhood. 63 years back on her first birthday she was hospitalized and her parents weren’t allowed to stay her. She saw them once a week for an hour in that period for 3 months which caused a big emotional damage which continued through her teenage. She was such unhappy memories that she became a people pleaser because she didn’t feel wanted, loved, or worthy of anything. She only focussed on making others happy and never thought of doing anything that can make her happy. Ms Sara continued that the most important thing with any child of any age, and especially teenagers is listening to them. Children and parents do not sit there and have a conversation and listen to each other. If only parents and children could find that time, that space then they can truly support the young minds with maybe even sharing some of our own experiences. It’s time for a change and we should best support our teenagers by helping them to feel listened to and heard. Dr Jayaswal shared her excitement as she progressed with the panel discussion as both Ms Sasha and Ms Sara are real people talking about their real problem, and more so they have come out of it, and they are blossoming as coaches and healers. Dr Jayaswal then moved again to Madam Kukreja asking her the role of educator in partnering with parents in handling these issues. Madam Kukreja was very clear in sharing that the parents need to discuss everything with the child with an open mind so that they actually feel wanted. When the parents give a quality and quantity time with the children, and discuss their problem then all the issues get resolved. However nowadays most of the families are nuclear where both the parents are working. So as educators they feel more responsibility on themselves. Dr Sonal Jain Jayaswal was overwhelmed when Madam Kukreja on behalf of the educator fraternity took the parental responsibility upon themselves because of shrinking families. However she felt that even then role of parents cannot be undermined at any circumstances and if parents have taken a decision to bring a new life on this planet then they should be committed towards their responsibilities life long. Then Dr Jayaswal inquisitively asked Ms Sasha about her evolution from a rebellious teenager to an intimate counsellor, how she moved through this magical journey. According to Ms Sasha her transformation started when she quit her first job, which was well paid and approved by the parents but she was deeply unhappy in this job. For years she was only people pleasing and doing what her parents, husband, society wanted. But then one day she decided to do what she wanted. However, her depression had led her to identity crisis and then she decided to heal where but she didn’t know what she wanted and she just started Googling and Youtubing on how to heal herself. She even took therapy for a few sessions but could not establish a rapport with the therapist. On her own she started with very simple tools, like meditation and journaling and started seeing positive changes which took her about 4 to 5 years. So her transformation took her years and she wished that had she had the tools that she have today then it would be much, much quicker. Moreover unlike her therapist she herself has undergone the emotional trauma so can connect much better with people. The journey of Ms Sasha made Dr Jayaswal all the more curious when she moved on to Ms Sara to understand her bit as to how she transformed herself. Ms Sara got her wakeup call in the form of a broken jaw when the dentist broke it while extracting a wisdom tooth, and she didn’t actually know it was broken for a week and that resulted in 6 months of pain and sleepless nights. An incident similar to her childhood where she got scolded because of boiling milk that went all over her face, down her neck, and the jumper stuck to her skin. This was all about face again and it was that 6 months of pain and sleepless nights eave aside pleasing people. Then she got introduced to Reiki, the
Global Wellness Summit 2022 beautiful energy of the universal healing energy and she was told the first person you treat was you yourself. That’s where it all started, and that was the catalyst for helping her to move forward with everything she does – she actually leant how to love herself and care for herself first. In the final round Dr Jayaswal once again questioned Madam Kukreja on how the teenage mind is changing over the years and what is the way forward. According to Madam Kukreja communication is the key. We are not the role models anymore, they are having the role models outside that is, in the social media. It is only through proper parent teacher partnership we could nurture our children. Positive thoughts, ideas and approach only can make this change. Goal setting is very important and they should believe in it and should come to us when they need help. And now we are going ahead with the 21 century skills which will train them on how to stand on their feet. Dr Jayaswal affirmed that as we know, we parents and educators need to be around the children but as rightly pointed out by Madam Kukreja the real role model is the social media. So with lot of love, encouragement and positivity we need to create that bonding with our children so that they always fall upon us out of their own personal choice. And then Dr Jayaswal moved onto Ms. Sasha asking her about the process practices she implements in her therapy. Ms Sasha shared that the majority of the practices that are used are focused on releasing the emotions from the body as when we not able to process the emotion properly, and are not able to release it then it gets stuck in the nervous system. for our entire life. Not only that these accumulated emotion start growing and over a period of time can turn into a disease. So by ,using Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time line Therapy, Emotional freedom technique etc help people release trapped emotions and achieve inner peace. Dr Jayaswal added to this by sharing on the theory of Karmas. She then inquisitively turned to Ms Sara asking her as to how she worked with the young minds despite such a big generation gap. Very simply Dr Sara answered saying that she connects with the inner child by working with name, sound, toning and use of the voice. Name is one of the most powerful aspects of this work, as it is able to get to a deep cellular memory level and work with different people. It’s about the emotions, it’s about connecting with the child of whatever age as the only person who can heal you is you. Dr Jayaswal iterated saying that it’s neither a fact nor the age but we are connecting with the feelings and the emotions. We should not disregard any emotion that is happening with the perspective that the child is small and what will he understand. The child is having his own created world, but in that world he is having those emotions so connect with the emotion, and the more you will connect with his emotion, he will connect with you, and maybe at some point of time will come to a common point. The major takeaway from the session is bonding with parents as the parents are the first teachers so the first building of the brain and the mind and the feelings and the motion is done by the parents. So the bonding with the parents is really important. Second is listening with the open mind, open heart and most importantly listening to the feelings, and not the words or the facts. And then last, but not the least. the external locus of control that is increasing so much with respect to social media, we need to help our teenagers to develop, move, invert towards the internal locus of control, and that can only happen if we start becoming friends with them rather than being authoritative where they think that they know it all. If we can follow these simple points then things will be so very different.
Page 47 Environmental Wellness: A Need of the Hour PROF. (DR.) S. B. SHARMA Vice-Chancellor, Millennium University, Blantyre, Malawi Wellness is a comprehensive term which includes a dynamic process of becoming aware of one‟s own surroundings and making healthy and life fulfilling choices. It has various dimensions like physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental and vocational. These are interdependent and influence each other. When one of these is imbalanced then it affects others as well. According to World health organization, “Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Wellness is not limited to restrain ourselves from diseases or infirmities rather it is a dynamic and conscious development of the whole self. Environmental wellness is the way we keep our surroundings clean, green, positively vibrant and energetic. It includes incorporating nature in our daily life and promoting interaction with the nature to feel peace and wellness. Environmental wellness signifies having a good health by occupying enjoyable, thoughtprovoking environments that support wellbeing. Environmental wellness encompasses a number of earth-centric priorities. Planet conscious terms like eco-friendly, environmentally friendly, go green and sustainable livings are all different ways of saying environmental wellness. Generally we observe that people love greenery but they are not environmental conscious so as to maintain its beauty, cleanliness and energy. When we become aware towards environmental wellness, we also realize how our daily habits, thought process and aura of body, mind and soul affect our surroundings as well. Improving environmental wellness is simple and its results
Global Wellness Summit 2022 can be managed, although it is a difficult and complex task. The positive impact of technology on the environment can be the development of environmental technology such as renewable energy also known as clean energy, smart technology to save the energy consumption, electric vehicles to limit carbon emissions and carbon dioxide removal. We must progress towards devising dual purpose techniques which on one side could make life easier and on the other side renew or generate clean sources of energy. Protecting natural resources and living sustainably in our natural environment gives you a sense of pride, helps preserve the Earth for future generations and helps counteract the many effects of climate change. The most substantial results of being conscious towards environmental wellness are having respect, kindness and compassion towards the nature and species living in it. Kindness should not be dictated by class conformities, caste, or divided by the community‟s social structures. Kindness can bring about significant changes in the world. To achieve environmental wellness, a person should be aware that the planet‟s natural resources have limits, honor nature whenever they can and be accountable for their part in making the world a better place from an environmental perspective. Focusing on environmental wellness connects people to each other and to the planet. When we all work together on this common goal, we can feel a sense of pride about the work we are doing to literally make the world a better place for all. So, we should shift our mindset toward environmental wellness by appreciating the natural world. When we are out in nature, we should be respectful and mindful of the area around us. We must keep animals‟ natural habitats intact, whether we at the beach or at the park. We should treat the earth like our home. The joy of giving is much greater than that of receiving. Kindness gets us closer to God and renders inner peace. Therefore, we must try to integrate kindness and respect towards our environment into ourselves. This is an ultimate formula for environmental wellness. are amazing and more balanced lifestyle. Suppose you are enjoying free electricity and water facilities. In such a situation do you become conscious in case of dripping tap and open unnecessary extra lights? Do you immediately switch off the unnecessary lights and call plumber to fix the tap? If yes, then it means you are conscious towards the environment wellness. It also shows a sense of sensitization towards Mother Nature. Conservation of energy, restricting single use plastic, use or production of toxic waste, pesticides, recycling of the waste products, using organic manure, reducing pollution, more plantation and afforestation, saving water, rain water harvesting, using solar energy, wind energy and wise use of earth‟s natural resources are some of the ways to help ourselves becoming more environmentally aware. It involves the interaction among environment, community and ourselves. In last few decades the process of industrialization has affected not only the Mother Nature but the nature of human beings too. People in the process of getting modernized give more importance to science and technology. Despite the negative effect of technology on environment, current rise in global concern for climate change has led to the development of new concept of environmental technology directing to help solve some of the biggest environmental concerns. Environmental technology is also known as „green‟ or „clean‟ technology. It refers to the development of new technologies which could conserve, monitor or reduce the negative impact of technology on the environment and control the depletion of resources. Similarly, the way in which we use technology decides whether its effects are valuable or damaging for society. No doubt the technology has improved communication among people no matter how far they are from each other but somehow it has blurred the vision of human beings in making difference between the real and fake faces. The spiritual connection among people has become weak as men have programmed the inner feelings and transfer them into machines. The negative impact of technology

Global Wellness Summit 2022 people can easily connect with them. Use images and videos to convey the importance of these messages to stimulate the action plans and rectify the problems. • Use visual reminders frequently like Zero waste strategies in order to save the mother earth • Solar panels installed in Singapore as of now aiming to produce 30% of electricity to support local needs • Vertical farming uses minimal space and more food production by using modern technical and technological tools and equipment as well. • Electric vehicles to use in the coming days to reduce pollution and also exploitation fossil fuel sources • Waste incineration produces electricity and the waste ash is deposited in a landfill to form a man-made “Semakau island” the first of its kind in the world by Singapore • 3R principles Reduce, Reuse and Recycle concepts are effectively and efficiently implemented as country’s integrated waste management strategies and practices • Climate school models in schools will enable the students to learn and lead better to manage the environmental problems • Simulation and problem-based studies are required now to face the challenges and manage the real-time problems by approaching with right solutions • Needed to conduct more awareness through exhibitions, competitions, and workshops to engage the business organizations, stakeholders and the public people. • To plan effectively to control carbon emissions in order to reduce global warming • We should not over-exploit the environment in order to save the sources and resources of mother earth • For short-distance of travel either use a cycle or walk. Maybe you can take public transport whenever possible. • Electrical vehicle in the future is a good choice, to reduce Pollution, because Carbon emission makes a lot of Pollution and It is going to affect the health of human so we have to control like using solar panels to produce energy that is going to support a lot of their On Day 2 of Global Wellness Summit -2022, a panel discussion on the theme: Building Climate Ready Communities was organized. The panelists of the discussion were Dr. B. Ramanathan- Founder & MD -ACE International Pte. Ltd., Singapore and Dr. Vandana Paul – Principal, Mount Litera Zee School Nagpur. The moderator of the panel discussion was Dr. Sunita Singh Principal, Mount Litera Zee School Ahmedabad. A very informative and inspiring discussion was held the highlights of the same are summarized below What is climate? Why is it changing? And what is Global Warming? Response by Dr. Vandana Paul: The normal weather conditions of a particular region. Climate change is real. These shifts may be natural, but human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels that produce heattrapping gases. As greenhouse gas emissions blanket the Earth, they trap the sun’s heat. This leads to global warming and climate change. For 1000 years our average surface temperature has been mostly stable but for the past few decades, it has shot up. We had never been to this stage and it is increasing. This is global warming leading to nasty consequences like extreme storms, floods, and drought. Now if we try to understand what is global warming… there are greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide methane water vapor which act as a blanket and do not allow the sun’s radiations to reflect back and keep some radiations which help in keeping the earth warm. To some extent, it is required but when the level of carbon dioxide concentration increases the speed with which the earth is getting warmer is worrisome. What is climate readiness endorsed? How can we promote climate actions? Response by Dr. B. Ramanathan: Climate readiness is about targeted action to preserve and improve our region’s economy, infrastructure, and resources while safeguarding our community member’s health, safety, and quality of life. This can be done by: • Using local heroes to deliver the message, as
