Howdy Bots is an ATX Robotics, Inc. team.
ATX Robotics is a 501(c)3 Organization

About Us

Who are the Howdy Bots?

The Howdy Bots are a robotics team that competes in FIRST
Robotics Competitions. Our members are homeschooled and private
schooled students who come from the North Austin area. The
Howdy Bots consists of 10 students (ages 12-18), professional
coaches, and parent volunteers. Our team meets throughout the
year in the garage of one of our coaches.

Howdy Bots was founded in 2016 as a way to provide opportunities
for homeschooled and non-traditionally educated high school students to get involved in STEM
activities. We operate under ATX Robotics, Inc. a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)
was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest in science
and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501(c)(3) not-for-
profit organization designs accessible, innovative programs that
motivate young people to pursue education and career
opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while
building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is called the ultimate Sport for the Mind. Under strict rules,
limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise
funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots
to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world
engineering as a student can get. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

How well does the team compete?

Regional competitions take place every spring. In 2017, our “rookie”
year, the Howdy Bots competed in two regional competitions and
advanced all the way to the World Championships, making it into
the playoffs at all three events.

We were honored to receive the Rookie All-Star Award at the Lone
Star Regional Competition in Houston, Texas, and the Rookie
Inspiration Award at the Alamo Regional Competition in San Antonio, Texas. These awards
recognize the strength of the partnership among team members and with our mentors and the
community. It’s also a nod to something that is hard to quantify - how we inspire others to want
to learn more about science and technology.

What We Need

Financial Support

Participation in FRC is not cheap. Our sponsorship goal is to raise $30,000 each season to cover
things like competition fees, travel costs, robot parts, and marketing materials such as shirts,
banners, and brochures. Howdy Bots is not financially supported by FIRST or any school, so we
depend on the generous support of corporate sponsors, local businesses, and private contributions
from families and team members.

Your support has far-reaching effects. ANNUAL EXPENSES

Donations help sustain an organization Travel, Competition
that provides unique experiences to $8,000 Fees,
future leaders. The majority of students
who graduate from FIRST programs $10,000

pursue careers in engineering or
technology.

More Than Money Trailer, Business
$2,000 Expenses,
We are looking for more than just
financial sponsorships. A robotics team Tools, $1,500
needs a great number of resources to $1,500
make it successful. We need mentors, Marketing,
tools and equipment, food during build Robot & Parts, $2,000
season, discounted parts… the list is $5,000
endless. Your sponsorship through
donations, goods or human capital helps
us to grow and promote programs that
ensures a talented and experienced
workforce in the future.

We Love Our Sponsors

Part of the FIRST mission is for teams to create bonds within the community by partnering with
corporate and private sponsors to meet their operating budgets and material needs. We are
looking for sponsors who will cheer us on year after year and ultimately become part of the
Howdy Bots family.

Organizations that choose to support the Howdy Bots through a tax-deductible or in-kind
donation are publically acknowledged on social media, in our promotional materials, on our team
t-shirts, and on the robot itself. Our audience is growing and we are proud to provide our sponsors
a high level of visibility. As we continue to provide kids with these unique opportunities, your
investment will be leveraged through the increased exposure we get with our success.
