A. GREETINGS (KATA SAPAAN)
The greeting is a salutation upon meeting someone or an expression of good wishes.
(Greeting adalah kalimat sapaan saat bertemu dengan seseorang).

Erna : Good morning, Mr. David. How are you doing?
(Selamat pagi, Pak David. Apa kabar?)
Mr. David : Good morning, Erna. I am doing well. And you?
(Selamat pagi, Erna. Saya baik. Dan kamu?)
Erna : I am great, thank you.
(Saya juga baik. Terima kasih)
There are two ways to greet others, formal or informal ways.
1. Formal Greeting
Its use in the situations like greeting someone we respect, formal classroom, presentation,
etc.

2. Informal Greeting
The informal greeting use when you greet your close friends in the schoolyard, or to
someone you meet on the other street.
(Informal greeting digunakan ketika kamu bertemu temanmu saat berada di halaman
sekolah, atau bertemu seseorang saat berada di jalan)

B. LEAVE TAKING (SALAM PERPISAHAN)
Leave-taking or parting is usually used if we part with someone we know.
(Leave-taking adalah ungkapan perpisahan/ berpamitan)

(Hai, Tina. Selamat pagi.)
Tina : Hi, good morning, Tina. Will you come to the Laila’s party tonight?
(Hai, selamat pagi, Tina. Apakah kamu akan dating ke pestanya Laila nanti

Santi : Yes, I will. How about you?
(Ya. Bagaimana denganmu?)
Tina : I will come with you.
(Aku akan dating deganmu)
Santi : Okay then. I will call you. See you later.

C. GRATITUDE/ THANKING (UCAPAN TERIMA KASIH)
Gratitude/ Thanking is an expression that we show or say to express grateful feelings to
other people. When someone helps you or gives you something/ compliment please say
“thank you”. In other words, gratitude is used to say thanks to someone.
(Gratitude/ Thanking adalah tindakan ucapan berterima kasih)

D. APOLOGIZING (PERMINTAAN MAAF)
Apologizing is an expression used to apologize for something or someone.
(Apologizing adalah ekspresi yang digunakan saat meminta maaf terhadap sesuatu atau
seseorang)

Mira : I am sorry, Nda. I did not bring your jacket.
Dinda (Aku minta maaf, Nda. Aku tidak membawa jaketmu)
Mira : No problem.
Dinda (Tidak masalah)
