THE FOUNDER

Dr. Melchor T. Villanueva was born on January 6,
1907. A self-made man from humble beginnings, he did odd
jobs to be able to finish college, a Master’s degree, and a
Doctorate degree in Education. In 1947, he established the
Naga Teachers College, which was later called as the Naga
College Foundation. Its primary purpose was to train
teachers aand to make quality higher education accessible to
the Bicolanos.His humble beginnings in life reflect the
virtues that every proud Bicolano shares. His exceptional
achievements and contributions to the community are
worthy of emulation by the present and future generations.
He died on June 13, 2000 at the age of 93.
