the disease continued to rage – until Rotary Ian H.S. Riseley
stepped forward and said that all children, no Rotary International President

circumstances, deserved to live free of polio.
In the years since PolioPlus was launched, the
combined efforts of Rotary, the governments of
the world, and the Global Polio Eradication
Initiative have brought the number of cases of
polio down from an estimated 350,000 per year
to just a few so far in 2017. But we must reach
zero cases, and stay there, to achieve eradication.
To do that, we need everyone’s help.
On 24 October, we will mark World Polio Day. It
is a day to celebrate how far we have come and
an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness and
funds to complete the work of eradication. I ask

What do we mean when we talk about peace?
In 1921, the fourth object of Rotary was established: President Ian H.S. Riseley's six peacebuilding

to be a diplomat to make peace.

First Lady’s Message
I have proud moments, for the past three months, being participated in
the district events witnessing lot of ‘doing good to the world’. The
collective efforts of our Rotarians make this possible. I congratulate
each and every Rotarian and especially the women Rotarians for
participating in the service activities, very actively.
Twin cities women Rotarians initiated a Whatsapp group, with more than
100 members, to share their views, activities and had a meeting 1st time.
This initiative increases more participation of women in Rotary Activities,
for sure. The same may be tried by other club women members too.
I request women Rotarians to share your activities in Abu Times for more
visibility and encouragement to other Rotarians.Let’s increase our visibility
in the GML and show the women power in Rotary.
We have celebrated various festivals and literacy promotion activities in
the month of September with great enthusiasm. I wish you all the best for
the forth coming events.Let’s make a difference....
Rtn. J. Shailaja
This Rotary meeting was very

Rotarians of the twin cities were
meeting as a group. They had
already been in touch on
WhatsApp and were meeting face-
to-face for the first time. Nearly 37
out of the 110 ladies attended. It
was felt that such interaction
would create better bonding
among the ladies and will improve
their participation as Rotarians in
District 3150.
From the Editor’s Desk
With plethora of Central and State Government schemes for
economic, entrepreneurial and skill development, it is always
confusing for budding entrepreneurs. Rotary can contribute in a
significant way by preparing a District level compendium of various
Indian and State Government schemes for MSMEs.
It would serve as a ready reckoner and needs an annual makeover
to incorporate changing policies and schemes.
Next to literacy, empowering MSMEs is the biggest to Nation
Building activity!
Happy Reading!!!
