IIW Theme 2017-18

All these years ,all of us have been trying to make the world
know of IW & its activities ,So when i was thinking over to give a
Theme for -2017-18 ,I thought to give a theme which each
member would understand ,why i have chosen it. Entering into
its 94th year of existence & 50th year of formation of
International Inner Wheel worldwide & myself being 50th IIW
President & yet even our nearest have not heard of our
prestigious organization.

Theme it self says that all throughout the year we would work
towards publicizing & strengthening our organization’s
existence. Let the world around you, your friends, family know
of the service IW is doing to needy & is one of the largest
women's service organization.

We all need to be remembered to feel that we have contributed
something to our organization by contributing to the world
around. For some this can be a driving force leading to a great
accomplishment & extraordinary contribution to the mankind.
But for most of us with more modest goals, what pushes us is
the desire to ---Leave A Legacy.

Your Legacy is putting your stamp on the future of your
organization. It's a way to make some meaning of your
existence .

Glorious year of formation of International Inner Wheel
,94 The year of existence of IW organisation --this year
we put in little extra efforts to encourage clubs to put
more towards the means where entire community
knows of the noble work each Club, Each District is
doing for needy for so many years.

Carve name of your organisation on hearts, not on
tombstones.
2017-18 is an IIW Convention year----

Whether you are a regular convention goer ,have not been to
one in few years, or have not attended yet your first, the 2018
convention will be one you won't want to miss. Melbourne is a
Great destination in its own right, with great food, friendly

PATRICIA HILTON
ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT 2017-18
ASSOCIATION OF INNER WHEEL CLUBS IN INDIA

Patricia Hilton was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh and after her
schooling attended St.Bede's College, Shimla for her Teachers'
Training Certificate Course. She excelled in sport and academics,
winning college colours in hockey, basketball and athletics. She
received the prestigious “Best All Round Student” award for
demonstrating excellence in leadership, character and sport. She
also captained the women's hockey team of Uttar Pradesh.

Patricia went on to pursue a career in education and completed a
Master of Arts in History from Agra University and Bachelor of
Education from M.D. University Rohtak. She taught at La
Martiniere College for Girls, Lucknow, The Frank Anthony Public
School, New Delhi and with the Ministry of Education, Oman.

Patricia is married to Rotarian Past District Governor David Hilton
(RI District 3080). In 1985, Patricia and her husband moved to
Dehradun where they joined Hilton's School and have spent the
last 30+ years growing and developing the school into an
institution of high repute.

Being proud citizens of Dehradun, Patricia and David have been
engaged citizens who have always been actively involved in
service and development programs in their local community and
at the national and international level.

Association of Inner Wheel Clubs of India in 2017-18.

Patricia had attended several Conventions, Triennials, South Asia
Rallies at various places over the years.
Patricia believes in the power of women collaborating to bring
about effective societal change and regards Inner Wheel as an
important platform to achieve this purpose together with the
friendships and opportunities to serve.

Patricia has volunteered significant time and resources in projects
of her club in Dehradun, nationally as well as internationally for
Inner Wheel and other service

organisations. She has hostedRotaryGroup Study Exchange
teams from Australia, USA and Argentina; organizedMedical
Camps for people in need; supportedthe Pulse Polio
eradication and National Immunisation Day campaign and the
Rotary India Literacy MissionTEACH Programme.

Patricia participated in a Friendship exchange with Rotarians in
Sarasota, USA and attended the Rotary International Training
Assembly at San Diego,USA in January, 2015. With her
husband she hasattendedInternational Rotary Conventions
and Zonal Training Institutes in India and abroad.She has also
volunteered on RotaryMedicare Missions beyond borders to
Malawi and Rwanda in 2015-16.

As a Major donor to the Rotary Foundation she also supports
numerous charities and philanthropic projects.

Patricia has immense faith in the power of Inner Wheel to
bring about significant sustainable change and continues to
contribute to and participate in these humanitarian
programsin the service of the community.

Patricia and David have two children a daughter, Melissa, a
chartered accountant and son Roger a sales and marketing
executive with Colgate Palmolive, Australia.

Mrs JANAKI MOHAN

District Chairman 2017-18
Inner wheel District - 315

Mrs Janaki Mohan was born to an illustrious family whose grand father
Sri Alladi Krishnaswami Iyer was one of members of the drafting committee of
constitution of India. Her father, Sri Alladi Prabhakar has served as dean of
engineering Osmania university, principal and director of international
programs in Manipal.

Mrs Janaki Mohan is the charter president of inner wheel club of Hyderabad
central. She served as president for 2 consecutive years. In the years 2004-
2006.

Her personal achievements during her term she got 6 awards and 2
certificates for the club. Out of which one award was the best president's
award and one certificate was for polio plus program. Later she became zonal
representative and she entered the district and served it in the capacity of iso,
treasurer, eso, secretary and vice chairman she believed in going up through
ladder system as she can gain experience in every field. Step by step she has
reached this district chairman position.

Her hobbies- she loves gardening, carnatic music and she herself was a
bharathanatyam dancer, she has given performances both in India and
abroad. She has worked in her grandfather's trust “Alladi memorial trust”
which belonged her uncle Alladi Kuppuswami retd chief justice of Andhra
Pradesh .

Other relevant matters- Her husband Rotarian Mohan has held various posts
in Rotary district 3150. He is a consultant for various manufacturing
engineering industries. She has three children, one son Anand, works in
Thermo Fischer company in Boston and daughter Prabha is a graphic designer
in Virginia. Her other son Sri Krishna works in a company Deep Red Ink. Janaki
has two adorable grandchildren Ananya and Mihir.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. WE HAVE TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE’

We have to make things happen. Together all of us can achieve the
impossible.

I firmly believe in this quotation. Who doesn't have problems? There
is always a solution to every problem. I always try to find solutions for
myself and for others. District members, we have a whole year, a new
beginning to do lots of service and make a difference in the lives of the
needy.

This year's theme is ‘LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY' given by our
international president Kapila Gupta after considering it with great
thought. It applies to all of us me as your chairman and to all
presidents, leaders of the clubs what you leave behind after your term
is over. This is a lovely theme which needs to be put to use in its real
sense.

Our work in the district, our contributions to society will live eternally.
We have to leave an indelible mark of our work as the legacy for our
district.

Let us all join hands and raise our district up leaving a lasting legacy for
future chairmen, and presidents. That will be our gift to them.

Inner Wheel year 2017-18. It is the source of very important information that
gets compiled over the years. Each Chairman adds valuable contents to it. It
provides information of district history, district executive committee, past
district chairmen, IIW committee, Association committee & information of clubs
& office bearers, district & other events, project avenues etc. One can rely on this
directory all year round & can sail smoothly throughout the year. District invests
good amount of funds for printing the directories. It is then expected that it
should be used in optimum manner. I hope this year too it will serve its purpose &
members will be benefited. Members& the dignitaries must share their
feedback on directory with the District Chairman, so that the scope of
improvisation gets enhanced & it becomes more users friendly.

Dear Janaki,

I thank you for your warm invitation for the
District Assembly "Prabhatham" where you
are taking over as the District Chairman.

We have come a long way from 1924 - the year Inner Wheel
was formed. Since then the members all over the world
relentlessly have been serving the not so privileged brethren
and have made a great deal of difference in their lives.

That is because we truly believe in the three meaningful
objectives of our organisation. true friendship, selfless
personalised service and International Understanding. The
ethos of Inner Wheel is to be friends with all, have love and
compassion towards your fellow citizens and to promote peace
by respecting and embracing people and culture of other
countries.

This year we have received a beautiful International theme
"Leave a Lasting Legacy" from our own Dr Kapila Gupta as the
International President. I strongly believe in this theme and
would love to adopt it as the fourth objective of our
organisation.

In the past we have undertaken all kinds of projects as and
when required, while lending a hand. Even today, we do not
think twice before helping the needy. Help in any way is worthy
of all the praise. But now we need to serve in an organised
manner to benefit the receiver and the giver. It is high time to
specialize in ONE field which may change and effect the lives
of many, make a greater impact on the growth of the society
and help in promoting the goals of Inner Wheel.

The said cause can be country or city based. In our
country the crucial need is to literate the not so privileged
lot. Though the government is providing free education to
the poor, we need to lend support, reach out and help the
government in being successful in this mission.
I am happy and pleased that your district is under me as
Zonal Literacy Coordinator. I am sure you will guide the
clubs and motivate them to achieve the most in the field
of Total Literacy.
I send my best wishes to you for the coming year. May
you lead your district in the finest manner and achieve
greater satisfaction of leaving a lasting legacy. I inspire all
