24. CV Kurumathur: Conducted by Smt. Shanti Krishnamurthy

The School is laid out on a 50-acre campus and is 26 years old. The School has no affiliation certificate yet to
start the Class 10 with the State Board. There is legal case going on against the land received as donation from
a family. The State Board has provided the hope that the certification may get done by March 2020.

The school has a space allocated for the Library which is devoid of shelves or books. The school could procure
used books/magazines from neighbouring Chinmaya Vidyalayas and create a decent reading space for children.
The small cabin meant to serve as a computer lab has a few computers laden with dust and are poorly
maintained. Two of the computers are functional. The classrooms are well ventilated and spacious considering
the strength in each class. The black boards in the classrooms must be painted and maintained regularly. The
walls of the junior classes could be painted vibrantly and class rooms made more welcoming. The senior classes
could do with display boards for children to exhibit their work. They are presently stuck on the walls of the
room. There is a small kitchen in the campus where food is cooked for the children. The outdoor space available

could be better utilized for some sports activities. Overall the space in the school is abundant and could be used
for mission activities during holidays. There are cashew trees across the campus which fetch some revenue
once a year.

The same management is managing the Vidyalaya at Talibarambha and it is sad to see the vast difference in the
maintenance of the campus. The Management should have the vision to share some facilities like magazines,
books and teaching aids between the two schools. It would help the Kurumathur school in a big way. Since the
Kannur Vidyalaya is close by, they can also extend help in conducting workshops to teachers and also share
some teaching aids. Absolutely no attention has been paid to the school and the managing committee should
take the ownership and responsibility to upgrade the school at the earliest. CCMT Education Cell has offered
support in whichever way possible, to revive the school. Unless some quick action is not taken, the falling
strength can lead to closing down the school.

English of both teachers and students must be improved. Teachers must upgrade their knowledge of being
