2023 Commencement Program Veterans Memorial Early College High School Veterans Memorial Early College High School Military Enlistment Ramiro Efrain Flores Navy Santiago Sebastian Balli Army Gael Giancarlo Gonzalez Navy My decision to join the United States Navy and become a sailor was for continued growth. I have learned a lot at Veterans Memorial ECHS; however, I want to see how far I can take it with this new challenge. This future as a Deep Diving Medical Technician will push me to work harder than I have before and I’ll strive for greatness because that is the Charger spirit. I joined the United States Army to help serve and protect our country. We live in the best country and I would like to serve for that. The opportunity and future as a U.S. Soldier will help you through life with the skills that we are taught. I joined the United States Navy in order to proudly serve my country. The new opportunities the military has to offer are exciting and too hard to deny. I know it will be a great way to set me up later in life. I plan to challenge myself mentally and physically these coming years. Pedro Emmanuel Escobar Jr. Navy I’ve chosen to join the military for the opportunity of personal growth and development as well as to serve my country. I’m excited to pursue a career where I’ll be able to travel the world and meet great people with similar goals all while being part of something larger than myself. Ashley Sarahi Gallegos Army Everardo Garza Garcia Army When I was 3 years old, I suffered an accident from natural causes and arrived to the hospital lifeless. Thankfully, I was granted a second opportunity to live life. Years later after my accident, I began to understand what life was. Ever since then, I grew up believing I had a mission in life that I have yet to accomplish. I also grew up with the idea that I wanted to have a positive impact on society. The idea of joining the US Army came into play a few months after I turned 17. As an individual who is always up for challenges, I took the idea to heart and joined the US Army. Joining the army has always been a dream of mine because when I was a kid my grandpa was in the army as well and I always looked up to him, but sadly he died at war protecting his country. Joining will not only make me proud, it will also make my grandpa and mom proud because I will be following in the footsteps of my hero. Since joining the army is no easy task, it changed my mindset and made me more disciplined because I wanted to be prepared for it. My mom always wanted someone from the family to join the army so they can follow in her father’s footsteps. For me, her son, joining will make her extremely proud and I will prove to all of my family members that it’s not impossible to join and that you can make a change in the world.

2023 Commencement Program Veterans Memorial Early College High School Mathew Tovar Navy Alberto Villarreal Navy Manuel Guadalupe Lerma Navy Angel Gabriel Morales Army Karlee Jannell Padilla Navy Born to be a sailor! For three years, my journey has been intertwined with a pathway often misunderstood, but it has shaped my perspective. Yet, beneath the surface, a soldier’s heart beats fiercely. Now, as I stand on the precipice of adulthood, I am ready to serve my country with honor and dedication. Each day I have sought peace in my own way, but now I will fight for it, for my country and my countrymen. The same resilience I’ve shown in my high school years, I will now bring to the US Navy, ready to serve, ready to protect, ready to preserve. I want to go to the Navy because I have always wanted to be in the military. My initial inspiration was my mother as she serves this country through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP). I saw a deep appreciation for my mother’s line of work and for those that serve our nation. Another source of inspiration was my brother whom eventually applied to the United States Air Force Academy and was accepted. After he graduated, he was commissioned into the Air Force as an officer and began service to our nation by ensuring that our warfighters have the most up to date technology. Hearing stories about how his job protects not only our citizens, but also our warfighters, fills me with pride. I wish to be like him and my mother and succeed in life. Enlisting in the US Army is a way I want to prove to myself and others that I could do something challenging, while also helping my parents and family. Also, the opportunity of traveling piqued my interest. The Army would also teach me certain skills that can’t be learned anywhere else. Overall, I’m enlisting in the Army to make a family and have fun! Military Enlistment I want to live my life with purpose and I have goals that I want to accomplish. Going to the U.S. Navy is a step for helping me closer to those goals. It’s ironic though going to the Navy when I don’t know how to swim but I have plenty of room to grow and many things that I need to learn. No matter how hard or impossible it is, never lose sight of your goal.
