A-Z book
by-Alyssa Jones
Angelo Pignati
Angelo Pignati AKA the
Pigman, is the old man
that John and Lorraine
prank called, claiming
they were a charity.
Lorraine and John became
great friends with the
Pigman. They were with
him to the end.
Bobo
Bobo is a baboon that
lived at a zoo that
Mr.Pignati would visit
everyday. Mr. Pignati
said that Bobo was his
best friend. Bobo died,
and when Mr. Pignati
heard of his death, he
too died.
Conchetta
Conchetta was Mr.Pignati’s wife who
sadly passed away but Angelo and
Conchetta lived a long happy life
together before she died. Conchetta
was the one who started collecting pigs.
She was the reason that he had a credit
card, because she liked shopping and
eating delicacies.
Dennis
Dennis is friends with John, Lorraine and
Norton. They all play this game on Wednesdays
and Sundays where they dial random numbers
and see how long they can keep a person
talking. Dennis holds the record. That game was
how Lorraine and John meet the pigman.
Lorraine had to prank call him.
Entertaining
The book was very entertaining, it
always kept you interested. It was
never a dull moment and the point
of view would change between
John and Lorraine.
Friendly
Mr.Pignati was very
friendly to Lorraine and
John even though they
lied to him about being
business people.
Mr.Pignati did a lot of
things for them.
Generous
Mr.Pignati was extremely
generous to John and
Lorriane. He bought them
many things like the roller
skates. He spent money
on them as if they were
his own kids, which in my
opinion was very
generous.
Hospital
Mr.Pignati was fooling around
with John and Lorraine when
he had a heart attack and fell.
He was sent to the hospital
and he was alright but he had
to stay in the hospital for a
little longer so John and
Lorraine had to watch his
house, eventually leading to
his death after a chain of
events.
Interesting
The book had a lot of very
interesting moments, like when
John practically made Lorraine
kiss him or the party. The whole
thing was interesting. Each
chapter would leave you with a
cliffhanger so you would have to
move on to the next chapter.
John
John kind of complicated. First of all, he has a problem with
authority. He is always arguing with his dad; he lies to his teachers
and refers to them as ‘retarded’. He lies to pretty much everybody,
except for Lorraine. John and Lorraine became friends when John
sat next to her one day on the school bus, and they started
laughing together. Soon after this, he invites her for a beer in
Moravian Cemetery, the high school kids like to go to drink. John
obviously likes Lorraine as a friend, but doesn’t clearly show the
feelings for her until he kisses her later in the novel. Even though
he has feelings for her, he manipulates Lorraine, just like he
manipulates everyone else. He’s pretty open about this; for
example, when he is trying to convince her that they should go to
Mr. Pignati's to collect the $10, he says something funny that
makes her ‘burst out laughing, and then I knew I had her where I
wanted her’. He and Lorraine become good friends with the Pigman
and, with the exception of Bobo, were his dearest friends.
Kind
Mr.Pignati is a kind generous
person. Throughout the book he
has been a really nice friend to
John and Lorraine. He treated
them like his own children. He
bought them things and forgave
them, even after he was so
upset about the party.
Lorraine
Lorraine Jensen is a sophomore in high school.
Lorraine is very sensitive, compassionate and
good at reading people. For instance, she once
said: "John has compassion deep inside of him,
which is the real reason we got involved with the
Pigman". She wants to be a writer, and is very
interested in psychology. Her observations and
judgments are usually very good. She was
another one of the main characters. She was
the one who prank-called the Pigman. She
cares for John. Her mother is very rude to her
and in the beginning, Lorraine was shy and
somewhat awkward.
Melissa
When John and Lorraine threw a party Melissa
had Lorraine's skates on and made Lorriane
mad. Melissa liked to drink and she cheated on
her boyfriend. She was the singer at the party
that John and Lorraine threw at the Pigman’s
house.
Norton
Norton was the friend of John. He,
John, Lorraine, and Dennis played
the game with the telephone. Norton
was muscular and an outsider. He
was a thief, as well. He also broke
the pigs.
Opportune
When the group did the calling
game they could have picked
anyone but they picked
Mr.Pignati. If Mr.Pignati hadn’t
have agreed to give money and
have them go over to his house
John and Lorraine would have
never gone on that adventure with
Mr.Pignati.
Pigs
Mr.Pignati’s wife
collected pigs. Once
she died, Mr. Pignati
took over that job.
Questionable
You would always
be questioning what
would happen next.
Rollerskates
Mr.Pignati bought rollerskates
for John and Lorraine. At the
party, someone took the
skates and used them, making
Lorraine very upset because
she treasured those
rollerskates from the Pigman
because nobody else did stuff
like that for her.
Spaghetti
Spaghetti is an important part in the book. Near
the end of the book we finally see John and
Lorraine get a little romantic. When John and
Lorraine were all alone in The Pigmans house,
they made spaghetti for dinner. With candlelights
and dressing up they set a mood just for
romance.
Thoughtful
Lorraine was very thoughtful.
She (almost) always cares about
everyone.
Uncertain
A lot of the chapters were
cliffhangers. They made you
want to see what was going
to happen next.
Vicious
Norton was vicious at the party. He got
drunk and broke Mr.Pignati’s pigs. John
tried to get him to stop by fighting him
before the Pigman showed up.
Worrisome
Lorraine’s mom is always worrying. She
questioned everything that Lorraine did.
She worried about Lorraine’s safety or if
Lorraine’s dress was too short. Lorraine’s
mother worried to the point where she
was picking on Lorraine because of it.
Xenodochial
(friendly to strangers)
Lorraine and John were strangers
but Mr.Pignati was very nice to them
even before he got to know them. He
invited the two strangers on the
phone into his house and then, the
very next day, took them to the zoo.
Yearlong
This book is set in a yearlong
adventure with the Pigman,
John, and Lorraine.
Throughout the book it
mentions the whole year.
Zoo
The Baron Park Zoo is the place that Mr.Pignati
loves to go to everyday when he can. He loves
to see bobo at the Zoo. Bobo died at the zoo,
and Mr. Pignati also died there.
