COMMUNITY NEWS from

JEWISH FEDERATION of GREATER PHILADELPHIA

e Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s mission is to mobilize financial and volunteer
resources to address the community’s most critical priorities in Greater Philadelphia, in Israel and around the world.

Main Event is “Happy Day”
for Jewish Federation

On Sunday, nOv. 1, approximately 600 community members
joined the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia for its Main
Event at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. A mix of new
and longtime Jewish Federation partners were in attendance, en-
joying festive food stations, entertainers and, most of all, spending
time with one another.

During the program portion of the evening, Jewish Federation
leaders talked about the organization’s vital work, and premiered a
new video featuring nine community members who have benefited
from Jewish Federation-supported programs. Guest speaker Henry
Winkler spoke to the audience about his childhood and his path to
becoming an actor, author, director and producer; he also read an
excerpt from one of his Hank Zipzer books. Winkler attended special
receptions with Main Event sponsors and members of the Jewish
Federation’s Joshua Society, in addition to graciously mingling and
posing for photos with many of the guests. The crowd sang “Happy
Birthday” to Winkler in honor of his 70th birthday.

Key to the Main Event’s success were Co-chairs Mackenzie and
Josh Gross and Nancy and Stuart Selarnick, as well as the evening’s
corporate partners and committee members.
