ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS

“ STEAM4 INNOVATOR ”contest : Final round

This “STEAM4 INNOVATOR” contest allowed for individual or student teams to
solve a specific challenge or problem through science, technology, engineering, or
mathematics. The competition was held over the course of 12 weeks. During the
contest, participants were designed to face several challenges, created a very
distinctive innovation, and then presented to push the boundaries of their knowledge,
introduce new concepts, and gain new skills.

This competition was rooted in real-world

issues, encouraging me to use creativity and

critical thinking in order to come up with

innovative solutions to that specific problem. In

the team, my friends and I came up with the

concept of “Keaw Chanom Yendee,” or the

Reusable Bubble Tea Cup, which can separate

layers between tea, ice and Boba or Bubble tea

pearls. During the contest, our team had to

overcome several challenges, however we

made it through by good teamwork along with

communication skills. Working with tiny stuff, I

therefore enhanced many key transferable

skills, including hands skills, problem solving,

critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, decision

making, leadership, entrepreneurship,

acceptance of failure and more.

Furthermore, I was chosen as the team’s leader, which encouraged me to develop

self-direct learning and collaborative skills such as teamwork, cooperation and

organisation. Subsequently, this unique experience enabled me to network while

learning about various innovative innovations and case studies presented by other

participants.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Relation Between Environmental Awareness and Single Plastic Use
Quantitative research focusing on ‘Relation Between Environmental Awareness and

Single Plastic Use’ as disposable plastic pollution has become one of the biggest
environmental issues. It was published in the International Journal of Current Science
Research and Review.

As a team, three other friends and I discovered that
although a lot of people understand the harmful effects
of plastic pollution, most people still keep using it. By
conducting a survey, data were collected using a
questionnaire asking about participants’ global warming
knowledge, behaviors, and opinions about plastic
usage. Thus, this research examines how students'
concerns towards environmental issues influence their
daily usage of single use plastic which has always been
one of my interests.

Responsible for data gathering and writing, I
learned to use quantitative reasoning as a scientific
method to explain the correlation between the level of
awareness about plastic pollution and behavioral
change.

Antioxidant activity in ethanolic extract of medicinal plants

Aside from regular chemistry lectures, I also had the opportunity to gain hands-on
experience in the lab, realizing what I'd learned in classrooms and how it applies to the
real world. My experimental research was conducted by comparing pharmacological
properties and antioxidant activity in three ethanolic extracts of medicinal plants:
namely Zingiber officinale Roscoe, Terminalia bellirica (Gaertn.) Roxb and Elettaria
cardamomum using the ABTS test.

Further research is in progress in the laboratory to verify the hypothesis that my
3 investigated plants may designate an excellent source of herbal medicine for various
diseases caused by free radicals, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and
neurodegenerative diseases.

Observing, categorizing, communicating, measuring,
inferring, and predicting are just a few of the science process
and analysis skills I learned during the experiment. As there
were some mistakes made in the experiment, I realized that
there is always room for improvement and that I can expand my
abilities, overcome challenges, and conduct more meaningful
research in the future that will make good contributions to
society and the medical industry.

Experiencing difficulties and stress in the laboratory helps
me strengthen my resilience skills by experiencing such factors
more positively, don’t allow them keep me from progressing and
impede my success. In addition, writing up the results of each
experiment also improved my written communication abilities
as well as my ability to organize and convey information, ideas,
descriptives, and arguments effectively and rationally.

PROJECT AND LEADERSHIP

“ Spare some time each day to read a little bit ” project for underprivileged students

In the year 2020, my team and I had a marvelous time conducting “ปน เวลา อ่านวนั ละ
นดิ ” or “ Spare some time each day to read a little bit ” project at Linjee Uthid School in
Pathum Thani, spending over 150 hours developing this project (June 2020 - June 2021
). It is a massive one-year volunteer project supported by Youth Innovation Marketplace
(YIM), why i why Foundation and Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

Youth Innovation Marketplace (YIM) is a program which encourages young people
to come up with their own ideas contributing to the underprivileged areas within the
country in their own ways. The Thai Health Promotion Foundation will select the top 20
teams from among the applicants to get funding and support to begin their initiatives as
a mainstay and change agent in rural regions. This program consists of several off-site
workshops on how to be the mainstay of the youth in making positive contributions to
the country, how to be a change agent, and how to launch effective initiatives within the
outskirts.

I came up with a concept of starting each class
session with 15 minutes of silent, independent
choice reading, as well as additional focus activities
such as Jigsaw and drawing. According to the
literature review and studies, this will enhance
students’ concentration and attention span during
classes. Finally, my team was selected as one of the
top 20 teams.

9

During the process, I as a leader put most of my time and efforts into helping my
teammates to overcome the limitations, making connections with school directors and
teachers, leading a project, rearranging schedules, giving feedback, and providing the
resources they need.

During the course of time, we visited Linjee
Uthid School, a tiny school in Pathum Thani
consisting of 50 students and 6 teachers, several
times over the course of the year while raising funds
through social media. Before we started, we
contacted pediatric meditation professionals to
train the teachers in order to develop a further
understanding about students’ concentration, and
purchased over 200 books and 6 bookshelves, which
were delicately sent to the school. Not only did our
effort benefit the school, but it also encouraged
children to read more books as the school in the
rural region lacks many resources for the students.
Last but not least, our team project was then
selected to be one of the best teams that had made
outstanding progress, and I was chosen as a
representative of the team to be interviewed.

Moreover, I designed sticker
collection cards to pique the
children's interest in reading more
books and adhering to the schemes.
Students who finish one book will
receive one sticker, and for every
five stickers collected, they will
receive a toy or snack. This helps me
develop my graphic design and
creativity skills.

After I completed the program, I realized that this was a Life-
changing opportunity. During my volunteering as a change agent of
the community, this experience just opened my eyes to how much of
a difference I can make by such simple gestures. I recognized my
weaknesses and sought to improve them while developing key
leadership skills such as decisiveness, team building, problem
solving, and ability to mentor. Furthermore, I learned how to
collaborate and communicate with other volunteers and engage with
young children. All in all, I acquired various motivational and
leadership skills but not lost the ability to listen.

VOLUNTARY WORKS

A little free pantry “Punsuk by Punpun”

The current situation of Covid-19, there has
been a little free pantry for helping people who had
been affected from the pandemic. So, I donated
essential goods such as rice, dairy products, and
snacks for those who were in need. I created and
designed my own stickers labeled “ Punsuk by
Punpun ” as my nickname is similar to the name of
the project.

Donated items that are necessary to a family of 5 experienced fierce eagleby house
fire at Pha Khao, and I was captured in a Dailynew newspaper.

Loei Vaccination Center

For a whole day, I volunteered at Loei Vaccination
Center by guiding people at COVID-19 vaccination sites.
This allowed me to witness health professionals in
action and was able to help them.

11

Donated necessary goods to the people at higher risk from Covid-19 at
Laos–Thailand border, Tha Li, Loei province.

Donated necessary goods to a bed-ridden patient at his house deep in the
forest and mountains at Phu Kradueng in Loei province.

MEDICAL
AWARENESS

I had a marvelous time shadowing doctors in many departments and specialties for over
60 hours at the local hospitals and several subdistrict Health Promotion hospitals in the rural
areas in Loei and Nakhon Phanom provinces.

Thatphanom Crown Prince Hospital

First, I met with doctor Jumbo, who is a family medicine doctor. He asked me several
questions on why I want to study medicine and taught me common illnesses and medical
procedures during the surgery. On the first day of shadowing, I had an opportunity to stay on
the labour and delivery ward. As I had a chance to attend the operation, this experience
really opened my eyes to how doctors, nurses, clerks, residents, and staff physicians work
together during surgery, as well as how beautiful it is to experience the birthing process
with excited families waiting on the outside of the room. Following this, I attended two other
surgery cases, including hernia surgery and arm surgery. On the second day, I observed the
professional doctors and learned how to handle the patients and treat them with utmost care
in the OPD and ER wards. On the last day, I visited a dental department and conducted
hospital rounds with the doctors and medical staff at the ICU ward, witnessing many severe
cases.

Being involved in the daily procedures of the hospital and getting practical exposure
helped me begin to understand which skills I needed to develop before applying to medical
school. Subsequently, my shadowing experiences helped me understand what I could expect
as a doctor and helped realize that this is really what I want to do for the rest of my life.

13

I am thankful to the doctors who let me see their lifestyle up
close, provided me with insight into the medical profession,
and gave me a lot of invaluable knowledge as well as
unforgettable experiences. I want to go there again one day
once I am a doctor.

Home Nursing Care (HNC) for Bed-Ridden Patients

I shadowed doctors and other healthcare
professionals, visiting the home of Bed-Ridden
patients, instead of them visiting the hospital.
Hopefully, after I can complete my medical study, I
will be able to help them with their medical needs.

Na Duang and Pue Rue subdistrict Health Promotion hospitals in Loei province

I shadowed doctors and dentists from The Princess
Mother’s Medical Volunteer at subdistrict Health Promotion
hospitals. On that day, they setted up medical tents near
the local community and allowed people to walk in and get
free treatment.

This experience taught me to understand more of how
medical staff deal with difficulties in the rural area with
sacred medical resources and doctors shortage.

Princess Mother's Medical Volunteer

I shadowed dentists and other healthcare
experts as they set up a tent near the village.
They provided free teeth cleaning and scaling. I
had an opportunity to observe procedures,
learn terminology and techniques, observe
different practice environments and ask the
dental professional questions about his or her
journey to practicing dentistry.

14

Phu Ruea subdistrict Health Promotion hospitals in Loei province

Once again, I shadowed doctors from The Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer at Phu
Ruea subdistrict Health Promotion hospitals. This time, they setted up a temporary medical
centre in the school within the rural community.

Blood Donation Centre in Loei province

Shadowing and assisting doctors and medical
officers at Blood Donation Centre in Loei province allow
me to interact directly with the donors and medical
personnel. I also learned about the system of blood
donation and its importance in saving people's lives.

EXCHANGE PROGRAM

1 month in California, USA
In 2017, I spent a month at the California School of English, Mission Viejo, California,

USA during summer break with my friends. It was a memorable experience since it was my
first time I stepped out of my comfort zone to explore the world, leaving the family behind
while plunging into the unknown. I had an opportunity to engage in many activities that
improved my abilities of leadership, collaboration , cultural adaptability, conflict
resolution, time management, confidence, and language learning.

Being an exchanger also cultivates the mindset of global citizenship perspectives
during my stay which gives me an ability to adapt to a changing environment and passion
to learn about other cultures.

1 week learning English in Singapore

Despite the fact that it was only a short
exchange program, it opened my eyes to the world
and I found myself becoming more mature,
gaining new experiences and adaptability skills.

AFS and YFU exchange year scholarships

When I first received the scholarship from AFS to go to Canada and the scholarship from
YFU to go to the United States for 1 year, I was so ready to go and experience the world, having
prepared everything in advance, including international adventure and new cultures.
Unfortunately, due to the current epidemic, my flight was canceled two months before
departure. However, I am proud of myself for passing the written exam for Language Proficiency
Testing and the AFS interview, and for being selected as a legitimate candidate among
thousands of applicants.

16

Extracurricular activities

Tik tok channel

During my free time, I made a tik tok channel dedicated to
KPOP music, which has long been one of my passions. This
channel used a lot of creativity to come up with new content to
upload each month. Moreover, it promotes my skills of video-
editing, graphic design, and transition. As several of my edits
went viral, my channel garnered over 670,000 views, 85,200
likes, and 1000 shares.

Drawing club

Drawing plays a big role in my
cognitive development. It can help me
learn to write and think creatively, as
well as developing hand-eye
coordination, hone analytic skills, and
conceptualise ideas.

17

Cycling

The sport I practice the most is cycling. This is not only because cycling is a great way to
have fun but also because it is an excellent type of exercise, since I could maintain good
health while discovering new lovely places near to home and enjoying the serenity.
Furthermore, in order to ride a decent pace line as a group, coordination skill is required. I
therefore learned a variety of riding skills, including how to use gears, balance, collaborate,
lead, and ride for long periods of time.
