Members Day Out at 08.05.2019 ur Club has been working to help children with disabilities,

this year our involvement was more in schools for deaf and
RCKG Jyoti Badhir Vidyalaya Omute children.
We tried to identify those areas where limited resources could lead to
significant gains for the children, towards this end we provided
computers and are contributing to salaries of computer teacher in a
school for deaf and mute children at Saket Nagar, the objective is that
children become employable and are not a burden to their families.
Another problem area is regularity of attendance as parents of
children are not able to incur expenses related to commuting of
children, we are also contributing for this purpose, the result has
been better attendance.
In deaf and mute school at Bithoor, children coming from far flung
areas could not be admitted due to space constraints as hostel
facilities were available for only 80 children, our members
contributed to building a hall for 20 children, we also gave a roti
making machine which will reduce labour and time and improve
hygiene of food being provided to the children. In this school we are
also taking care of some regular expenses to ensure that operations
can be improved.
In deaf and mute school near P Road a very ambitious project has
been started, we are building an acoustic room which will make a
significant difference to the quality of education , in future we plan to
give audiometer, teleprompter and software for speech therapy for
all round development of speech and identification of hearing loss.
We have also worked with school for the blind where articles of daily
necessity like water cooler, cots ,tables etc were provided in the
school and hostel.

Spring wanderlust : CHINA TRIP

14th-21st April, 2019

Loved our Rotary Club of

Sojourn. . . . . . . . . . . The world is a

read just a page ! Travelling is a
passion, seems like people are most
alive whilst exploring newer lands.
Our visit to the culturally rich,
techno cool, perfection in their arts
and beaming, warm billion
peopleʼs country China was totally awesome to say the least! Itʼs not
the breaths we take but the breathtaking moments we have in our
escapade with life. China is blend of modernity and tradition, hotspot
for globalization, witness to the blossoming and booming. We fell in
love with its modernism, imperialistic grandeur, Fabulous palaces and
well manicured gardens and consumerism!
The black dragon squad of 46 RCKGians sailed in a spirit of
camaraderie, care, concern with friendly banter, melodious

Antakshari, Indian flavours of thepla,
chivda, mathri, laddoos right from
Lucknow's Chatrapati Shivaji
International airport to Delhi's T3 and
there forth to Scintillating Shanghai.
The credit for the path breaking trip
wasenvisioned and meticulously
executed by dynamic Rtn. Alok Lohia
and Ann Kavita, dance in every step Rtn. Mehboob Rahman and Ann
Rushda. Our erstwhile club President Rtn Neeraj with the first lady Ann
Nikita, affable Secretary Rtn Prashant, Ann Priyanki and Nandita bhabhi
all spun colours and flavours so beautiful, we had a dream getaway!
Opening the floodgates of memoirs I reminisce the high points and would
love to share. . . Shanghaiʼs superlative Acrobatics show- It had spectacular
performances of silk rope ballet, circle roll dancing, springboard jumping
etc. The individual and troupe performances had us totally enthralled.
Next was our visit to the verdant, green beauteous Yu Gardens situated
next to the City God Temple. This gave us a glimpse of classic, Chinese
architecture, dragon being the iconic symbol of mandarin power
majestically displayed everywhere !!
Remember folks, the Shanghai skyline which has been celebrated and
highlighted in the popular James Bond movie…Skyfall !
Looking around from the 88th floor, observation desk of Jin Mai Tower, we
had a spectacular 360 view. It's also known as The Golden Prosperity tower
and houses the five star hotel of Grand Hyatt. The skyline gave a beauteous
backdrop to our charming RCKGian Jodis.
The Jade Buddha Temple was a spiritual haven with a mysticism, soulful
tranquility and soak in serenity. I'm sure each one of us felt a glimpse of the
divine. The temple was founded in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues
imported to Shanghai from Myanmar by sea.
Zhujiajiao Floating village was a
marvel to wonder. It is located in the
suburbs of Shanghai and glimmers
like Venice.
China is rich in its varied cultural
heritage and its myriad cultured
imensions delight!! We visited the
pearl factory and jade factory much
to the joy of our feminine squad who
pampered themselves with amazing

indulgences. . . . Pearl necklaces and silk duvets.
Itʼs elegant name - 'Pearl Stream' - the Zhujiajiao Ancient Water Town is unique
with old bridges, small rivers shaded by willow trees, quaint and archaic craft
shops which transported us back to the old world charm of China. . . . . full of
antiquity, history and culture
Scintillating Shanghai the world renowned, international metropolis came most
alive and pulsating at night.
The Huangpu River cruise was a wondrous experience. . . . . . seated on the sun
deck one witnesses the old order juxtaposed with the new. Cruising we saw the
landmark Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower and the modern sky scraper SWFC
along the bund illuminated amazingly. Here the RCKGian camaraderie was
indistinct measure with most of us breaking forth in a jig to Bollywood numbers
and revelling in the romanticism of sea, sound and sight!
Wrap up on Shanghai was the RCKG fellowship in full steam at the happening
