The Elevator

Pitch

People who know me are well aware that I love
a good yarn so here is the elevator pitch version
of my role. I gave up my day job to indulge my
passions for emceeing events, bringing people
together and of course all things sports! So first
and foremost, if you have an event or
conference and need an MC, someone to
interview your special guest or a charity
auctioneer, I'm your guy. Unlike other emcees, I
can also help co-ordinate the event, recruit the
guest speaker and get bums on seats!

My business particularly revolves around helping
companies to improve their personal
relationships with clients by developing and
facilitating events, big and small from intimate
boardroom lunches to larger corporate sports
days.

With an innate capacity to capture an audience with his infectious enthusiasm, matey
banter and uncanny ability to draw even the most retiring interviewee into animated
conversation, Evan has been successfully emceeing events for 30 years. With his
specialty in sporting events, charity fundraisers and sportsman’s lunches and dinners,
Evan has interviewed sporting greats from Australian cricketing heroes Greg
Chappell and Mathew Hayden to Channel 9 Sports Commentators “The King” Wally
Lewis and ex Wallabies captain Andrew Slack, AFL legends Jason Dunstall, Leigh
Matthews (Hawthorn) and Johnathon Brown (Lions) to US PGA golf winners Steve
Bowditch and John Daley and many more.

I have raised funds as an auctioneer at many events for charity. I think it would be fair to say
that I would have raised at least half a million dollars through various events over the years.

Podcaster

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, I took the opportunity to kickstart a new adventure
with media producer and good friend Greg Blake. Greg and I started the podcast
'Just Havin a Crack' where we talk to people who simply have a great story to tell, from
sporting figures to acclaimed Australian wine makers.

Apart from being a lot of fun, we have produced more than 60 episodes and accrued over
20,000 downloads. Our Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts have also amassed a
great following in the short time since we started the podcasts, with our most recent episode
hitting over 6,000 people.

Although South East Queensland is our majority listener base, we have attracted listeners from
all over Australia and internationally. Despite only being around for a year, we have already
teamed up with some great corporate sponsors, and love the opportunity to work with and
promote some fantastic brands.

With our extensive knowledge in all things sport, many of our podcasts focus on the sporting
world. However, we have connected with people from all industries as we passionately believe
that everyone has a story to tell, and we want to share it.
