IMMIGRATION

In the past entering and leaving Thailand was done
freely. In 1927, the nation created the Immigration
Department within the Ministry of the Interior and put
it in charge of controlling the arrivals to and
departures from Thailand, in order to be in line with
other civilised nations. The first head of the
Immigration department was Pol. Col. Wichai Prachabal
who had a mere 50 officers in his department. In 1932
the Immigration Department was attached to the Police
Department and its name changed into Immigration
Division.

The structure of the Immigration Division was
reorganised and renamed “Immigration Bureau”,
consisting of 4 commands in order to assure a high
efficiency and efficacy of the operations of the
Immigration Bureau in accordance with the workload
and national policies.

THE IMPORTANCE OF

ENGLISH

The role of English in our lives has got
much importance. English may be a foreign
language, but it is international in its
significance. It is taken as a lingua France, the
common language, for all parts of the world
today. The importance of English language in
our lives is as firstly, it is spoken, read or
understood in most parts of the world. Due to
this language, we can belong to whole world as
well as to our own country.

IMMIGRATION

The ability to speak English is an important part
of immigrant assimilation in the Thailand. In
contemporary politics there is a concern that
although earlier waves of immigrants learned
English, newer cohorts are doing so at lower rates.
The brief uses U.S. Census data to answer this
concern and show that English language acquisition
rates have increased over the past 100 years. There
are various of nationality who enter the nation
illegally and when the officer arrest them, English is
a language that able to communicate with them.
While immigrants from Myanmar or Cambodia are
less likely to learn English than other nation that
surround Thailand.

THE WAY TO
IMPROVE
ENGLISH
COMMUNICATION

1. Listen
Really listen to what the other person is saying, instead of formulating your response.

Ask for clarification to avoid misunderstandings. At that moment, the person speaking to
you should be the most important person in your life.

2. Body language matters
Make sure that you appear accessible, so have open body language. This means that

you should not cross your arms. And keep eye contact so that the other person knows that
you are paying attention.

3. Check your message before you hit send
Spell and grammar checkers are lifesavers, but they are not foolproof. Double check

what you have written, to make sure that your words are communicating the intended
message

4. Write things down
Take notes while you are talking to another person or when you are in a meeting, and

do not rely on your memory.

5. Sometimes it’s better to pick up the phone
If you find that you have a lot to say, instead of sending an email, call the person

instead.

6. Think before you speak
Always pause before you speak, not saying the first thing that comes to mind. Take

a moment and pay close attention to what you say and how you say it.

7. Treat everyone equally
Do not talk down to anyone, treating everyone with respect. Treat others as your

equal.

8. Maintain a positive attitude and smile
Even when you are speaking on the phone, smile because your positive attitude

will shine through and the other person will know it. When you smile often and exude a
positive attitude, people will respond positively to you.
