Legacy Gala 2021

W ATERMARK

On 15th August 1980 Joseph Randolph
Morris was born to parents Philip and Letetia
Morris. His middle name Randolph was chosen
purposefully so that he could be called ‘JR’
after the famous oil baron JR Ewing from the
hit TV show Dallas. He was never called ‘JR’ but
he did become a baron, which by definition is
a man who has a lot of power or influence in
a particular industry.

Joseph loved his family.

Affectionately known as ‘Joe’ he was a larger
than life character from birth. He was caring,
kind and charismatic as a young boy which
continued to define him into adulthood. At
age three Joseph and his family moved to
Jamaica for a new lease of life, whilst there
he attended Pembrock Hall basic school, and
quickly became a ‘Jamaican’ through and
through. His family lived in Jamaica for three
years returning back to the UK when he was
almost 6 years old.

He adored his parents and would always
ensure that he was on his best behavior when
in their presence, until the day he died he
respectfully referred to them as Mummy and
Daddy, nothing was too much for him to do for
them. He lovingly looked after his mum and

2018 was the year where many of us had the
privilege of seeing the heart of Joseph and
a having a glimpse into his future. Joe was
passionate about helping and supporting the
next generation, if he could help a young person
in anyway he would. He had a heart for young
offenders and those who were excluded or
ostracised. He was always one to fight on behalf
of the underdog. Earlier this year Joe called a
family meeting, (which was very unusual for him
as he would usually avoid them), and he shared
with us that he wanted to do an event to give
back to young people who were underprivileged
and would not have had an opportunity to attend
something of the magnitude he had in mind.

His vision was to collaborate the art of boxing
with the celebration of young people and youth
organisations who were making a difference
within the community. He wanted to do it on a
BIG scale ensuring that the event would be the
beginning of something and that it would leave a
lasting legacy. The event was held at the World
Renowned Alexandra Palace in North London
on June 9th 2018, Joseph officially launched the
Legacy Foundation with an exclusive experience
the Living Legends Legacy Boxing Gala. In
attendance were in excess of 500 dignitaries,
celebrities, boxing legends and community
leaders, the exclusive event was the first of its
kind to be held in the UK. Recipients of the
LLLB Awards on the night included Archbishop
Evangelou, Dr Mark Prince, James Cook MBE and
Rudolph Walker OBE.

One of Joseph’s main goals on that day was to
honour the memory of his best friend Adrian and his spirit will live on, in us and through us. We

Stafford Scott has been involved in the Black
Civil Rights struggle in the UK since his arrest as
a teenager under the ‘Suspicious Persons Act’,
sus laws, in 1976.
in 1983 Scott became a member of the
Broadwater Farm Youth Association, a youth
empowerment initiative created by residents
and young people living on and around the
Broadwater Farm estate, Tottenham N17. The
Youth Association had been created in response
to oppressive policing practices, a lack of
facilities on the estate and a lack of employment
opportunities in general. As one of the older
youths he began to engage with, challenge
and support some of the younger youths in the
hope of impacting their behaviour in a positive
manner.

Scott rose through the ranks at the Youth
Association and on leaving college, where he
studied Community Development and Youth
Work, he became the LB Haringey’s Senior Youth
& Community Worker on the estate. During
this period the Broadwater Farm ‘uprisings’ took
place, following the police killing of Cynthia
Jarrett who was the mother of his friends, who
he had known since he had attended infant
school with them.
He became a founding member of the BWF
Defence Campaign, he was to become the
‘Spokesperson for the Youths’ and eventually
the voice of the Defence Campaign itself. As
a result of his speaking out he was arrested,
on more than one occasion, for the murder of
the police officer who had been killed during
the uprisings. His arrest by Scotland Yard
Murder Detectives did not silence him as was
intended. Instead his arrest and maltreatment
by the investigating officers only served to spur
him on to become an authentic ‘community
representative’, who would seek to hold the
police to account for their, often, unlawful
behaviour. He took inspiration from Garvey
and the Black Panther’s and decided to serve,
protect and represent the local black community
as best he could.

The Business Bishop

Wayne Malcolm started his professional life in
financial services as an independent consultant,
who earned commissions only. He was effectively
forced to consume success literature and attend
motivational seminars in order to survive and, as
a result, he quickly learned how to be successfully
self-employed.

He left this business in favour of his call to Christian
ministry, but did not leave the motivational
environment behind. This period seeded in him
a love for learning and an addiction to personal
development. As a result of reading over 1000
books, attending scores of seminars, employing
coaches and mentors in multiple business
disciplines, Wayne became known as the Business
Bishop.

A Christian Leader

Bishop Wayne is a duly consecrated Bishop
in the Christian church who presides over the
International Christ Ambassadors Network (iCAN)
of churches, agencies and initiatives. He further
serves as a Pastor’s Pastor by mentoring, coaching
and consulting with church leaders world-wide.

Wayne Malcolm is a Motivational Teacher with
over 30 years experience as a keynote speaker,

hence the name RMP. In the early days RMP

Roadshow providing the music. MJR Roadshow
was established in 1979 by Michael, Jigs and
Robert, two brothers and a friend (Michael Rennie,
Clive Patterson, and Robert Rennie).

Over the years RMP played a significant role in
introducing, promoting, and giving a platform to
numerous DJ’s, up and coming artists and sound
systems that are well known and loved to date.
In the 1980’s the famous Mini Caribbean Family
Weekender was added to their repertoire, which
included Devon, Holland and Sweden. In the
1990’s with growing popularity this repertoire was
extended to weekly holidays abroad to Florida,
Jamaica, Italy and more.

By 1999 the original Mini Caribbean Family
Weekender encouraged people of all ages,
from babies to grandparents, to take time out
and come together for a fun and relaxing time
away. When it changed to over 18’s a number
of these youngsters returned as adults. As the
weekenders grew in popularity and numbers the
event moved to Great Yarmouth, Wales and then
settled in Southport, still providing a platform for
up-and-coming artists, comedians, and singers.

RMP Promotions have created a brand and
legacy, with style and brilliance, that brought
communities and families together. Providing
entertainment and an annual escape from the
everyday stresses of life. There has been no
other yearly event available, on this scale, with
this degree of diversity for our community. People
from all walks of life and ethnic groups have come
to unwind and have fun together.
29

There are countless stories of relationships being
formed that have led to marriage, children, and
grandchildren because they met either on a
weekender or holiday. Long lasting friendships
have been formed and for many, RMP provided

RMP have achieved their goal of making holidays
affordable, entertaining, relaxing, fun and stress
free. The testimonies of the thousands of people
that have attended the events is incredible and
a testament to RMP and the reps that have
dedicated their skill, passion, and creativity for
people to just enjoy a beautiful holiday away.

Raheem Shaquille Sterling MBE (born 8 December
1994) is an English professional footballer who plays as
a winger and attacking midfielder for Premier League
club Manchester City and the England national team.

Born in Jamaica to Jamaican parents,
Sterling moved to London at the age of
five. He began his career at Queens Park
Rangers before signing for Liverpool in
2010. He was awarded the Golden Boy
award in 2014. In July 2015, following a
lengthy dispute over a new contract, he
was signed by Manchester City in a transfer
potentially worth £49 million, the highest
transfer fee ever paid for an English player
at the time. He went on to help Manchester
City win back-to-back Premier League titles
in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. In the
2018–19 season, he was named to the PFA
Premier League Team of the Year and won
the PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA
Footballer of the Year.

Sterling made his senior debut for England
in November 2012 after previously being
capped by England youth teams at

levels. He was chosen in England’s squads
for the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2018,
and the UEFA European Championship in
2016 and 2020.

Sterling was born in the Maverley district
of Kingston, Jamaica, and spent his early
years there.[4][5] His mother, Nadine Clarke,
