The final 2 events: Feb 25, 2020 was in New York Times Square up in the NASDAQ building. My keynoter was the HR leader of CondeNast. The room filled. On Feb 27, it was the final pre-pandemic conference. I presented it in Washington’s Embassy Row inside the historic home of US President Woodrow Wilson. It was a grand setting; indeed a stimulating atmosphere for our sold-out event. Pandemic hits: I returned to home in Coronado, California, wondering what’s next for me, for my cashflow ...and for sure, what’s next for the San Diego region and California and for the US. Now what? Well, I thought it just-about-time for me to learn what-to-do with Zoom. I also decided to figure out how to become a “happy and effective tvtalkshow host” and moderator and producer. Sporadically, and with no idea, no plan... I had been developing some zoom and linkedin contacts located across borders, across cultures, across time and space, across industries and silos, across generations, too. I began watching videos of the old tv news shows, especially HuntleyBrinkley, ABCnews, CNN, too. I studied the leaders, the interviewers. I got on linkedin and stayed there, day after day for weeks. Registration fee? None... my professional courtesy. The concept: don’t be nervous or shy, come talk, intro yourself, talk about your brand and how it has actually helped a company achieve something. I invited people to collaborate on the content for their comfort and convenience I invited guest to send to me in advance their TALKING POINTS, identifying key items most important to them for the purpose of the 1:1 tv interview. By identifying their key items I knew they would be comfortable and be laser-focused. By them sending the info to me I would become informed and this would better enable me to media prep, to better manage the talk-flow and to clock-watch.
