selected and effortlessly paired the music and videos, creating what I was
certain were cinematic masterpieces. Now, when I reflect on how that little
girl crafting videos in her backyard has transformed her passion of video
creation into a career, I am amazed. This passion has inspired me to travel
the world, continue to learn more about video editing, and further my
education in the field of marketing.

I have always enjoyed traveling. With every new destination, whether in a
nearby town or somewhere on the other side of the country, I am able to
create a new story. This past year, I took advantage of the opportunity to
travel outside of the United States for the first time in my life. During the
month of May, I studied abroad with Transylvania University and traveled
to the Netherlands. Immersing myself in a new culture exceeded all my
expectations, and I couldn’t help but reach for my phone to capture every
moment. While studying abroad I created a video to help market the study
abroad program at Transylvania University for many years to come. Within
the video, I highlighted important aspects of the trip and created a storyline
of what to expect when studying abroad. After my first experience traveling
outside the United States, I was ready to see more as quickly as possible.
Fortunately for me, I was able to connect with Courtney Margetson and FDI
Alliance to pursue an internship less than a month after I had returned from
the Netherlands. Before I traveled to London to begin the internship I took
advantage of the opportunity and traveled to Switzerland, Italy, and France.
With each new location, I was fascinated.

demographics. Combining those skills with my passion for video creation
and desire to travel, I realized I should pursue a career in the field of
economic development. I could help communities tell their stories, travel to
new places, and allow the world to gain a new perspective and see things
through a new lens.

Logans Lens is a video marketing company I created this past year. In the
past, I created videos solely for personal use and travel purposes because
that was the best way for me to capture memories and share my experiences
with others. Branching out into the field of economic development has
challenged me in the best ways and allowed me to discover new opportunities
to showcase my talent. Starting a business was something I always dreamed
of doing but never imagined would be possible this early in my life. Little did
I know that my age was one of my biggest advantages within the field of
economic development. My generation has grown up with social media,
allowing me to see firsthand how beneficial it can be to market through
online platforms. I found the best way to get started was to create an online
presence to launch my brand. I began by creating my own website, www.
loganslens.com, featuring an online portfolio for potential customers to view
my work. From there, I continued to create profiles on Instagram, Facebook,
and LinkedIn. With the help of Courtney Margetson and his team, I also
created a media kit with pricing options and printed business cards. Starting
my own brand has been one of my proudest accomplishments. I cannot
wait to see what the future holds for Logan’s Lens.

The field of video marketing is constantly evolving, but what sets me apart
from other creators is my deep understanding of creating personality in each
of my videos. When showcasing a location or a small business, I strive to LOGAN THOMAS

DECODING THE FUTURE OF SITE LOCATION DECISIONS

As the global business landscape evolves, so do the factors determining A shining example of this commitment is the Texas community of Andrews,

trends emerge Sustainability and Environmental Considerations, Digital
Connectivity and Technological Infrastructure, Workforce Availability, Talent
Pool, and Quality of Life and Well-being. As a leading business destination,
Texas provides a perfect backdrop for understanding these future trends.

Sustainability and Environmental Considerations Sustainability

Once a buzzword, is now a top priority for companies across the globe.
Businesses are not just aligning their operations with green initiatives, but
they are also choosing site locations that mirror their commitment to the
environment. Locations that offer access to renewable energy sources,
sustainable infrastructure, and environmentally friendly policies are
becoming increasingly attractive to businesses. Texas, a leader in renewable
energy, stands out in this trend, with a commitment to green initiatives that
have attracted significant business investments.

and environmental stewardship. As such, Texas serves as a beacon for
companies looking to embrace a profitable and sustainable future.

Digital Connectivity and Technological Infrastructure

In a world that’s becoming increasingly interconnected, the quality of digital
connectivity and technological infrastructure is a crucial factor for businesses
in their site location decisions. Access to advanced technologies and robust
data infrastructure not only optimizes operations but also aids businesses in
leveraging digital innovations. This growing need has seen states like Texas
take substantial steps to enhance their digital landscape.
Texas’s initiatives towards strengthening digital connectivity exemplify its
