tool
• Visualizations is a field of Business Intelligence that
deals with graphical/visual representation of data
The Good:
• Easy to learn
• Low time to market
• Free tutorials
• Integrated geo maps
• Powerful visualizations
Tableau
Not so good:
• End-user tool
– There are not too many jobs in the market for I.T
people
• End-user mentality even in administration and
install
• Advance authoring requires a lot of hacks and
tricks
• Not the full BI solution

• TDS – Tableau Data Source file contains the metadata
• TDSX – Tableau Packaged Data source contains the data
and metadata
• TWB – Tableau workbook is an XML file which contains
all information about your visualization
• TWBX – Tableau Packaged work book includes the data
with the visualization
• TDE – Tableau Data Extract is a columnar database file
with extracted data
