Andi and Sandy Wardlaw were host to our first
Share-a-Garden on Saturday June 15, 2019. They
offered refreshments, fig tree seedlings, and a one
of a kind garden. The cloudy weather didn’t stop
the gardeners from enjoying the beauty of the
yard. Please enjoy these pictures from her garden.
Remember on the Share-A-Garden that Interns get
1 hour of volunteer work credit and Master
Gardens get 1 hour of CEU’s.

no change to how to log on to the Membership Tab (still
"knockout"). As a reminder, Members can view minutes of

Canyon Farmer’s Market
The Canyon Farmers Market season is upon us. We are a
welcome addition to the market (according to the CFM
Board). Attached is a preliminary schedule of our involvement this
year. Four MGs have expressed their desire and willingness to serve
as a leader at one of the market dates. This year, I envision on MG to
serve as a leader/mentor to 3 Intern/Associates at each session. The
focus subjects for each market session are my ideas and are subject
to the leaders’ endorsement

Final Report on the Gardenfest Activities
--submitted by Gerry Ault
Garden Fest 2019 was held at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens on April 27, 2019. Randall County
Master Gardeners participated in this fundraiser. Kathy Colburn, Gerry Ault & Donna Griffin were the
co-chairs again this year.
The co-chairs met in early February to set dates for future meetings & workshops with our committee
members. It was decided to make only 20 cedar flower boxes, 20 hypertufa planters and 15 succulent
planters. We had 18 Master Gardener committee members that signed up to help us this year. Our
first committee meeting was held on Feb. 16th. Michele Stewart & her hubby volunteered to make
our succulent planters using donated fence pickets. Martha Bufford & Chuck volunteered to make
Texas flags & yard planters out of fence pickets. Kathy set a date of March 23rd for the workshop to
make the hypertufa planters in her garage. We had a great turnout of Master Gardeners and interns
for this workshop.
Thanks to Roger, we had quite a few rescue plants from the Canyon Courthouse. He delivered
sedum, day lilies, catmint and Jupiter’s Beard to Gerry’s. I planted these in donated pots in
preparation for our fundraiser.
Geraniums were ordered from Irwin’s Greenhouse for our flower boxes. Donna & Steve made our
cedar flower boxes. We painted our flower boxes on April 13th at the Randall County Extension
Office. We had another great turnout of Master Gardeners and Interns. April 25th we gathered again
in Kathy’s garage & planted our flower boxes, hypertufa planters and succulent planters.
The morning of Gardenfest we met at ABG at 7:30 am to setup. This year the gardens would only
allow 5 volunteers to be admitted free. Other volunteers had to pay their admission fee. Many of our
Master Gardeners donated & brought vegetable & garden plants, herbs, gardening art, books &
magazines. We had a great turnout of Master Gardeners and interns. Some of our interns stayed
during the entire GardenFest.
We had two raffle items – 1st prize was a potting bench built by Master Gardener, Tim Craddock and
a Texas Flag built by Master Gardeners, Chuck & Martha Bufford. Our raffle raised $220.00.
Many thanks to our Master Gardeners & Interns for all their hard work. It was a great fundraiser. We
raised a total of 1301.00 from our other garden items plus the raffle.
Thank you’s!
Thank you to the following who helped out at the Randall County Extension Office last week – Joyce,
Cindy, Sandy, Don, Maureen, Cori & Terri, as well Cindy’s husband, who helped remove the ugly
trees!
