YEARBOOK ART COMPETITION

Zoe Paterson My art is based on “St Heliers was our world”. St Heliers School has
Room 14 been a part of our lives for up to eight years now, and it is finally time
to say goodbye. The school logo on the earth is to represent how St
Heliers school has been, and still is, a big part of our lives. The boy
and girl are blowing petals towards the school, as their time there is
up. They are giving their best wishes to the school and the community,
even though they will no longer be part of it.

Rebecca My art is an image of St Heliers Bay. On the left bottom
McLaren corner is a pohutukawa tree, symbolising our culture. The
Room 15 footprints on the sand represent our diversity because
they look different. Although we travel different paths, we
are there for each other as a community. Rangitoto stands
proudly in the background and on the top left hand corner
is a stamp with the St Heliers School shield.

Lachlan My yearbook art depicts St Heliers beach, a place many of our
Gordon students will remember and love from their childhood. I chose to
Room 19 make 2018 out of objects naturally found at the beach in the hopes
that it will be easy to see but blended in nicely and not feel forced into
the picture. At the top I put the St Heliers School banner and logo to
represent our school.

Zoe Paterson The Ruler and Pencil are there to represent learning. The space in
Room 14 between the stationery is used for Rangitoto since we are in St
Heliers. We decided to add a person wearing the uniform, half boy
and half girl, even though it might not be that obvious. The person in
uniform is a clear link to our school.

Jorja Kane My artwork is an interpretation of everyone at St Heliers. We are all
Room 15 superheroes and that shows in everyday life. The school colours are to
represent the school and everything it’s done for us. This superhero is
to show that we come from a school that has taught us to fly.
