It has been a wonderful season for
our netball teams, culminating in
excellent achievements at Inter Zone
on Thursday the 23rd of August. With
a win from Year 7 and second place
from Year 8. At Central Zone on
Friday the 10th of August, both teams
were confident heading to Inter Zone.
There were three pool games each,
both teams won two and lost one,
leaving them both second in their
pools. In the playoffs the Year 7 team
came 4th and the Year 8s came 6th,
with 16 teams from all over Greater

Auckland at each year level. A
fantastic result for Waikowhai! Well

done girls

Cross-Country

On the 16th of August, Waikowhai  students set out on a run around our community.
They got their hearts pumping, adrenaline rushing and worked up a sweat but overall

had a fun day running. Well done to everyone who participated in Cross-Country
2018!

CentralCZroonses-Country

The course was soft, muddy with lots of surface water. Our

four teams of students battled hard and everyone ran their

hardest to get some great results. Our best placings were:

Luke Grant, Room 13, who came 4th in the Year 7 boys and

Sher Safi who came 10th in the Year 8 boys.  Special shout out

to Luke Grant for making it into the Inter-Zone competition.

ATHLETICS DAY

On the 19/10/18,
Waikowhai Intermediate
journeyed to the tremendous
Mt Smart Stadium where they all
competed against eachother
through in the luminous weather.
After all the training at school,
everyone did incredibly well and
competed to the best of

their ability.

  On the
 13th,14th and
15th of March the eccentric year
8 classes travelled all the way to the
alluring black  sanded beach called Muriwai.
During their time there, they were able learn more about
beach safety as well as the dangers on the beach and what to
look out for. Even though the weather wasn't perfect they
were still free to have as much fun as they wanted in the ice-
cold water learning how to dive, wade and rescue people. To
end all three days off with a bang they reviewed the safety
rules before leaving for a long one hour drive back to their
very own, state of the art, Waikowhai Intermediate.

Korea

Trip

We began our awesome fun filled trip at Auckland Airport. After going
through security we boarded our flight to Hong Kong. It took 11 hours to

fly to Hong Kong! We spent our day touring around the famous
landmarks. After a very busy day in Hong Kong we got back on the plane

and flew to Incheon in Korea. We were very exhausted when we first
arrived so we had a quiet day and visited the markets and took the train

to Seoul. In Seoul we did more Shopping. We also got to visit LOTTE
world a massive theme park. It was very busy. There were heaps of big
scary rides. There was an indoor zone which had five stories of rides.
The ride called the Bungee Drop was our favourite. The ride flung us up
really high and then dropped quickly and then carried on slinging us up
and down about ten times. After visiting Seoul we took another train to
Busan to meet our home stays and stay the night at their houses. The
next day we woke up early and went to school. The School we went to
was really big, five stories high! The korean school was really different,
and called their teachers by their first name. In the afternoon we went

up the Busan tower. The view was really good and we could see the
whole entire city. The next day we took the bullet train which went
incredibly fast, 300 kilometers an hour to two small historic korean
towns in the countryside. Then we took another bullet train to Daejeong.
At Daejeong we visited an English speaking school with younger kids.
After another eleven hours of flying we arrived back in Auckland tired
and exhausted from our fortnight of travel in Korea and Hong Kong.
