FOOTBALL

Many high
points in 2021
football season

Football had another successful season
in 2021 as nine teams represented
Northcote College with pride and
distinction. Six teams competed on
Saturdays: 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, 14A, 14B
and 13A and three teams competed on
Wednesdays: 1st XI Girls, 2nd XI Girls and
Junior Girls.

High points during the season included:
• The 2nd XI Boys improved greatly

winning the Senior B North Western
Plate Division.
• The 1st XI Boys again competed
strongly in the Auckland wide A1
League, showing great heart. The
cancellation of the last game of the
season meant the team were denied
the chance to get another win and
avoid relegation.
• The 14A Boys competed strongly
in the Auckland wide 14 A1 grade.
Their victories over Kings College A,
Glendowie College A and Pakuranga
College Academy took them to heights
never scaled by a Northcote College
team.
• The 2nd XI Girls only lost 1 game in
the North Harbour Senior C Grade,
finishing in 3rd place.
• The Junior Girls also came 3rd
achieving this in the North Harbour
Junior Grade.
• The 1st XI Girls were a young team
that had some good results and were
playing off for 5th or 6th place in the
North Harbour Senior A Grade when
the season ended a week early.

All the teams would like to express their
gratitude to their coaches, managers, and
referees. Thank you to all the parents and
supporters also.

Awesome enthusiasm

It has been fantastic to see so many eager netballers
playing this year and to get game time despite Covid-19
interruptions. Thank you all for your commitment and
efforts this season. While we did not quite get to finish the
season in a way we may have liked, it has been awesome!
It was exciting to see lots of teams set up for some
interesting semi-finals.

To the Year 13 players this year, I hope your last season
at Northcote College has been enjoyable. Many of you have
played every season since Year 9. I wish you all the best for
your future and encourage you to continue playing this great
game.

A final thank you to all the amazing volunteers we had
this season. It is truly not possible to successfully run a
school sport without you. Whether you were a coach,
manager, score keeper, supporter, or on drop off/pick up
duty, thank you for your help this season.

I look forward to seeing you all back for the 2022 Netball
season.

Tight knit teams

We entered the College Sport North Western

performance and narrow loss came against Mt Roskill

for the Touch season being cancelled, and were an
