ALLWYN'S STORY

From Rajan, Andre, Escada & now in his eternal home.
Vintage, beyond valuation & forever etched in history,

leaving an eternal legacy to be continued.
We come together today to celebrate the life of a great

storyteller, Allwyn William Fernandes, our beloved
father, father-in law and grandfather.

Affectionate, loving, welcoming and always cheerful. The
Lord blessed him with a memory that is commendable. He
was passionate about everything; the smallest of tasks
was done with perfection and with such raw enthusiasm.
Allwyn epitomized the qualities of a perfectionist,
whether it was meticulously filing documents or writing
cheques or letters, he ensured that everything was
complete taking no shortcuts along the way. A practice
Allwyn maintained until his very last days.

As we all know Allwyn was a People person and gosh did he
love to talk. To this very day, his call register of
written contact numbers remain at home and its almost
like WhatsApp and the advancement in communication
technology was something just meant for Allwyn.

His phone calls comprised of enquiring on our wellbeing
and health, followed by keeping us updated on all the

news in the society. One thing that Allwyn made sure to
do was to always make time to speak to each person of the

family during his calls. Papa mastered the art of
forwarding random text messages on WhatsApp which I’m

sure some of us had the pleasure of receiving.

STORIES WE RECALL

There are so many anecdotes that each of us have to re-
call, from all of Allwyn's children to his grandchildren.

Mission Man
Recalling some of the early memories, Allwyn took his
children - Lincoln, Warren and Clarrisa to his office at
Bombay Chamber, whenever possible which helped them
develop their early soft skills like interacting with
office employees & telephone etiquette. But the most
enriching parts of those memories were after work when
Papa took his children to the different vendors located
at the port to collect mawa cakes, nankatai channa, ----.
A practice that Allwyn followed with all of us
grandchildren. The most essential quality that is
highlighted here how kind and respectful Allwyn was to
each of the vendors and the relationships he built.
This quality lasted through all the 9 decades Allwyn was
here as his kindness, generosity and respect touched the
lives of the people he interacted with which helped...

Being a movie buff himself, Allwyn ensured to treat all
of his children to special movie nights at Eros Theatre
getting samosas, choc ice-cream

STORIES WE RECALL

What was Allwyn passionate about?
Never a dim moment when around him, Allwyn's childlike
simplicity could win anyone over. And I am sure each one
of you has some memory to connect with Allwyn. For us,
one of the most cherished memories would be how he always
prepared his sweet tea first thing in the morning and

every evening as well.
Allwyn was someone who never wanted to be left behind in

anything, through each of his 9 decades,
What some people don’t remember is that Allwyn was a very
good waltz and foxtrot dancer and ensured to pass on his

talents to all his children.
Allwyn was never one to shy away from a good dance and
requested the band to play a foxtrot track even during

his 90th Birthday celebrations in Goa 2 months ago.
Allwyn was physically fit all his life. In his youth,
Papa always spoke about the days he climbed coconut trees

to share coconuts with his friends.
On family vacations, Allwyn always wanted to complete all

the treks we went to whether it was in Mahableshwar or
Materan or Goa. Allwnn never feared anything and tried
water slides when he was over 80 years and still tried to

learn Snooker at 90 when we were in Goa this year.

Allwyn gave all of us our firsts, whether it was watching
movies for the first time with his children to being the

first person to play cricket with us grandchildren.

In turn we tried to give Allwyn back a few firsts for
himself, like visiting Dubai and New Zealand for the
first time, watching a cricket game of India v/s New
Zealand in a stadium for the first time to visiting the

worlds largest shopping malls for the first time.

A POEM

for

ALLWYN

A little poem that we know Allwyn would love to
recite to his family and friends:

A limb has fallen from the family tree
I hear a voice that whispers “grieve not for me”
Remember the times, the laughter the songs, the

good I shared when I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I am counting on you all,

keep on smiling the sun will always shine
through.

My mind is at ease my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, I was truly blessed.
Continue the traditions, no matter how small, go
on with your lives, don’t stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until that day, we are all together akin.

Thank You.

Thank you Jesus for our Daddy, our
Papa. I pray strength and comfort for

our mother, who is the backbone of
our family.
