We celebrate the wonderful life of a great storyteller, Allwyn William Fernandes, loving husband, beloved father, caring father-in-law and doting grandfather.

ALLWYN'S STORY
Affectionate, loving, welcoming and always
cheerful. The Lord blessed Allwyn with a memory
that was commendable. He was passionate about
reading, interacting with people, partying and
dancing; the smallest of tasks were done with
perfection and with such raw enthusiasm.
Allwyn epitomised the qualities of a
perfectionist, whether it was meticulously filing
documents or writing cheques or letters, he
ensured that everything was completed taking no
shortcuts along the way. A practice Allwyn
maintained until his very last days.
As we all know, Allwyn was a People's person and
gosh did he love to talk! To this very day, his
call register of written contact numbers remains
at home and its almost like WhatsApp was something
just meant for him.
His phone calls comprised of enquiring about our
wellbeing and health, followed by keeping us
updated on all the news in Mumbai. One thing that
he made sure to do was to always speak to each
member of the family during his calls. Allwyn
mastered the art of forwarding random text
messages on WhatsApp which I’m sure some
of us had the pleasure of receiving.

STORIES WE RECALL
Teaching his children life lessons
Allwyn used to take his children Lincoln, Warren and
Clarissa to his office at Bombay Chambers of Commerce
& Industry whenever possible, which helped them
develop their early soft skills like interacting with
office employees & cultivating telephone etiquette.
Kindness Personified
The most enriching memories were after work when he
took his children to buy mawa cakes, nankatais,
channa & fruits. The key quality that stood out was
how kind and respectful Allwyn was to each of the
vendors and the relationships he built with them.This
quality lasted through all his 9 decades as his
kindness, generosity and respect touched the lives of
every person he interacted with.
Childlike Simplicity
Never a dull moment when around him, Allwyn's
childlike simplicity could win anyone over. Allwyn
was someone who never wanted to be left behind in
anything, through each of his 9 decades. Allwyn never
feared anything and even tried water slides when he
was over 80 years and learnt Snooker at 90.
Movie Buff
Being a movie buff himself, Allwyn used to treat his
children to special movie nights at Eros Theatre
followed by treats of samosas and chocolate ice-
creams.

STORIES WE RECALL
Light on his feet
What some people don’t know is that Allwyn was a very good waltz and foxtrot dancer and ensured to pass on his talents to all his children. He was never one to shy away from a good dance and requested the band to play a foxtrot track even during his 90th Birthday celebrations in Goa in May 2022.
Fit as a Fiddle
Allwyn was physically fit all his life and amazingly never had to spend even a single day in hospital. In his youth, he used to climb coconut trees to share coconuts with his friends. On family vacations, Allwyn always wanted to complete all the treks, whether it was in Mahableshwar, Materan or Goa.
Celebrating Firsts
Allwyn gave us many firsts, whether it was watching movies with his children or playing cricket with his grandchildren. In turn we tried to give him back a few firsts for himself, like visiting Dubai and New Zealand, watching a cricket game of India v/s New Zealand in a stadium and visiting the worlds largest shopping mall, all for the first time.
Allwyn's special sweet tea
One of our cherished memories is Allwyn preparing his special sweet tea every morning and evening. We have tried to replicate this without success. Seems like the secret ingredient is a dose of Allwyn's love & laughter.

A POEM
for
ALLWYN
A little poem that we know Allwyn would love to
recite to his family and friends:
A limb has fallen from the family tree
I hear a voice that whispers “grieve not for me”
Remember the times, the laughter, the songs,
the good I shared when I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I am counting on you all,
keep on smiling the sun will always shine through.
My mind is at ease my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, I was truly blessed.
Continue the traditions, no matter how small,
go on with your lives, don’t stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until that day, we are all together again.

Allwyn's message to the next
generation on May 04, 2022, Goa
As we recall some of Allwyn’s nostalgic stories, we also
remember how important our mother Priscilla is as part of
this story. Allwyn and Priscilla were inseparable; they
would go to Church together, visit the markets together,
and even play cards together.
Priscilla dedicated so much time pampering Allwyn with all
his favourite meals throughout their 55 years together.
We pray for strength and comfort for Priscilla,
who is the backbone of our family.

for the blessing of Allwyn,
beloved husband, father, grandfather.
