Shyamal Mukherjee B 1961

hyamal Mukherjee is an artist who has spent his entire life in

SCalcutta, only venturing out to attend showings of his works.
Born in 1961, he completed his BFA in 1987, from the prestigious
Kala Bhavana at Santi-Niketan. Thereafter he achieved his MFA
in 1989 from yet another prestigious Art Institute, The Rabindra
Bharati University at Kolkata.
Lets talk about his work style as we show you images of his works.
The artist also likes to focus on the fact that each individual has a great deal in common with every
other one. This is why he paints people in pairs or larger groups, highlighting that though they are
physically separate and unlike each other, there is no real difference between their characters and
behaviors.

Example these smaller heads that could be any starters pride to procure.

Tapas Ghoshal B 1965

T apas Goshal (b. 1965) completed his Graduation in Painting from
Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, and Post-
Graduation in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
His student years in Varanasi left a lasting impression on him and his
paintings depict the city’s renowned ghats with a familiarity that comes
from closeness. His landscapes and riverscapes are influenced by
abstract expressionism, with rich yellows and reds directly derived from
the ghats. They are presented in a larger-than-life perspective. This
perspective draws home the contrast between the ghats teeming with
crowds and the magnificent river that solemnly flowing ahead. Goshal
has extensively participated in shows around the country, and is the
recipient of the Jamini Roy Birth Centenary Award (1987), the
Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award (1988) and the Governor’s
Gold Medal for the Best Exhibit, Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata (1992),
among other distinctions.
Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces,
sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind,
enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of
mystic silence.

Oinam Dilip B 1982

Oinam Dilip was born in 1982 in
Bishenpur, Dileep received his
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from
Delhi College of Art.
In the early years, Oinam experimented with abstract and realist forms of
art, which were inspired by the metro cities of South Asia. The artist found
his muse in North East India, which inspired him to capture the beauty
and simplicity on canvas. His portraits depict the integral understanding
of social ethos and conditions of Manipur. His subjects cover most of his
canvas forming a gorgeous, multilayered splash of colours, lines and most
importantly human feelings. His paintings have a balance of realism and
abstract, with his subjects inclining more towards realism, set in a
beautiful vibrant backdrop.

Laxman Aelay B 1965

L axman Aelay was born in the Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh in 1964.
He received his BA in Painting from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological
University College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad, and took up full time freelance
painting straight after that. Laxmans` paintings are nostalgic, depicting the rural
people he grew up amongst. His source of inspiration has been the live of these
poverty stricken people from his village - Kadirenigudem.
Recently, Aelay switched over from using white, black and shades of gray, which
he preferred in his paintings, to using vivid colours to depict flowers, jewellery
and traditional clothing. His earlier preference to paint on large sized canvases
and papers has also been abandoned, and his latest works are much smaller and
compact. Aelay has received international recognition as well as several awards
and gold medals for his works. These include an award from the Hyderabad Art
Society in 1995.
This young and talented artist held his first solo show at the Indian Council of
Cultural Relations Art Gallery in Hyderabad in1999. Laxman has participated in
several important exhibitions of paintings including C` ontemporary Deccan - A
New Generation of Artists,`held in Hyderabad in1999 and the 7th Group show at
the Surya Art Gallery, Hyderabad in 2000. He has also represented the country in
an international exposition organised by TAANA in Chicago, USA in 1995.

Vijit Pillai B 1958

B orn on 1st January 1958.
I am inspired by a simple touch of any undiscovered story that is
present in all things that have been and will be. Textures, paints,
photographs and the canvas ignites a deep passion in me for presenting my
take on life and how I perceive things. I integrate and weave them into my
work, because I believe that life has to be lived in a unique manner as
everyone is out on a different journey.
Vijit Pillai was lucky to have been introduced to the beautiful world of art
by his mother, who was an artist herself. He is famous for his mixed media
art, which involves unique textures, paints and photographs on the canvas.
He has held several solo shows including 'Blues of Buddha', 'Lombok by
Moonlight' and 'Blue Nirvana' in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Gurgaon. His
work is a blend of contemporary and the modern world. He has received
the All India Award for “The Best Painting” from Nehru Yuva Kendra. He
has exhibited his art in some of the most famous art galleries in New Delhi,
Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Jagannath Paul B 1976

Geometric figures on man and woman
expressing the different subtleties of their
shared relationship create a stunning piece
of artwork by Jagannath Paul. He was born
in West Bengal and completed his
graduation from Government College of Art
and Crafts, Kolkata.

Jagannath Paul is deeply influenced by the Cubist art form of the post modern era. The artist
creates solid blocks of vibrant colors; red, blue, yellow, and orange to create his subjects. What
looks like an abstract mosaic pattern, on a closer look reveals to be carefully drawn images of
men and women.
The closed eyes in these paintings might be representing numerous things; deeply engaged in
thoughts, lost in a dream, enjoying the pleasures of the physical world, or even self-reflection.
Though he creates an abstract setting for his semi-abstract subjects, a fine line subtly
demarcates the two. The geometric shapes in the background are often smaller and more
precise than those in the subject, which instead of creating a distraction, follow their natural
shape, and compliment them. The shadows created by the charcoal, help the artist to blur the
lines between the subject and the setting. Over the years, Jagannath Paul has won numerous
reputable awards .

Gopaal Seyn

G opaal’s work possesses raw beauty &
emotional honesty. They are subtle or
boldly erotic works exploring
relationships ; those between a man & a
woman, self love, love for family or the
community.

Seyn is an Indian American Artist , with a Multi Faceted Personality.
Being a mentor to some 350 + art students, Sen has been has been more
of a teacher than harboring self ambitions for himself . However he was
soon to unleash his drunken creativity that needed an outlet more than
guiding his students . Sen soon took voraciously to his brush and became
a full time artist along with being a mentor to his students.

Among his other humanitarian efforts, in 2018 Seyn was invited to join a
Trade Mission led by Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston, to India; where
he painted for an eclectic live audience consisting of the Who's Who of
The Indian Trade Industry.

His painting of the portrait of George HW Bush, was accepted by Neil
Bush on President’s Day.

Seyn , further created a portrait of Bob McNair (of the Texans fame)
which finds a place of pride in the Lobby of the McNair Foundation.

His portrait of Mahatma Gandhi created in 2019 is a permanent fixture at
the Indian Consulate in Houston.

The aim of art is to represent not the outward
appearance of things, but their inward significance.
