Advisory Council Meeting

Minutes

Susan Fagan, Business Teacher and FBLA Adviser from Lambert High
School, welcomed everyone. She thanked the group for agreeing to serve
on the council for this year and commented on what a large group we had
in attendance.

Ms. Fagan then shared a video with greetings from Royce Dickerson.
Royce will be serving as the 2016-2017 Georgia FBLA State President. He
had a prior commitment and was unable to attend but wanted to address
the group.

The following students then presented FBLA highlights from their
respective schools:

D J Barber Lambert High School
Matthew Treece North Forsyth High School
Omkar Waingankar South Forsyth High School
Anjali Atluru South Forsyth High School
Anish Bikmal South Forsyth High School

Ms. Fagan shared the Georgia FBLA State Project for 2016-2017—the
TREY Project--and encouraged everyone to become more aware of the
implications of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This project was named
after her relative, Trey Quinn, who suffers from cerebral palsy. Trey
competed at state and nationals this past year and blew everyone away
with his Electronic Career Portfolio and captioned presentation.

Aaron Archambeau, Computer Science Teacher and FBLA Adviser from
West Forsyth High School, gave a presentation on the Computer Science

pathways. There was much discussion afterwards from the group related
to the courses being taught at the all of the high schools.

Emily Henderson, Career Development Coordinator, shared our need for
Career Path Partners and how to become a partner. Several members
from the group showed an interest and received the paperwork.

James O’Connor, Computer Science Teacher and FBLA Adviser from
South Forsyth High School, talked about professional membership in
FBLA. He also shared the paperwork for becoming a professional
member.

Carla Yonk, Business Teacher and FBLA Adviser from South Forsyth High
School, opened up the floor for comments and recommendations. Several
members in the group were very complimentary of what we are doing in our
programs and pathways.

The meeting was adjourned.
