President’s message Dear Members, Season’s greetings from OCC! I hope everyone had a good rest after counting down to 2023 with a bang at our Countdown Party at the Grand Ballroom. Thank you all for your stoic support of all our Club events in 2022. You may wish to flip to pages 13-18 to reminisce the recently concluded Captain and Lady Captain’s Cup, President’s Cup and the 25th Secretary-General’s Cup. As we usher in another new year, I would like to share some upcoming initiatives for 2023. New Buggies To start off, I would like to share that our new buggies have arrived at OCC at the end of November. The new buggies are currently being assembled and will be ready by end February 2023. However, due to global chip issues, the buggies will be rolled out in February without the GPS function. The buggies are safe to use even without their GPS function. Updates will be communicated to members once information is available. Golf Booking System I would like to provide an update on the new golf booking system which is currently undergoing security testing and will be implemented by the end of March. While we iron out the details for the integration of systems, we are also working on our communications to members on how to book your golf games via the members’ portal. These will be sent out once security testing is completed. Refreshing Club Interiors Next, we have plans in the pipeline to refresh the interiors of our Clubhouses. The Golf Clubhouse will be first in line followed by the Orchid Golf and Hotel Resort then the Recreation Clubhouse. Some of these works include replacing and updating information and graphics, removing old and damaged notice boards and more. This will be done in phases to minimise disruptions to Club operations. You can expect a new look and feel once the project completes. Stay tuned to our weekly eDMs for more updates. Members’ Night We have also brought back Members’ Night to welcome new OCC members and formally introduce them to the Club GC and Management as well as to engage current members to learn more about your interests and gather feedback on Club matters. These sessions will allow the new and current members to mingle and network with each other as well as with Club GC and Management. OCC Calendars and Chinese New Year 2023 Red Packets Following past years’ practice, the 2023 OCC calendar has been mailed to your mailing address in November and you should have received it. This year, OCC designed and produced our own red packets and these will be mailed to your address together with your December Statement of Accounts. Do keep a look out for it! 2023 Ang Pow Fund Contribution On behalf of the management and staff of OCC, I sincerely thank each and every Member who contributed to the 2023 Ang Pow Fund. Your contribution will make a huge difference to the Lunar New Year celebration of our staff. Your appreciation of our staff is a great show of support and will spur them to work even harder in 2023. Thank you for making this Lunar New Year even more joyous for them! With your overwhelming support we will strive to make 2023 an even more exciting year for all members! May 2023 bring us peace, joy, prosperity and good health! On behalf of the General Committee, Executive Committee, Sub-Committees, Management and Staff, we would like to wish all Members a Happy and Prosperous Year of the Rabbit. See you at the Club! Staff Compliments We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to these new members to our Orchid Family! Mr Zubaidah Binte Mohamed Amin Mr Chan Hung Kwan Mr Song Yu Xian Mr Heng Meng Kwang Hi Grace, As expressed to Phoon and July over the counter, many thanks for reverting to the double barrel system. It has been good for all and without pressure for both members and OCC staff. Thanks too to your counter staff and the Marshals who have had to bear the brunt of the pressures during the single barrel play. They have been most patient and helpful. Thank you. Albert Yeo Member This morning, the decision to close the course has to be commended. The golf staff involved acted professionally and made the decision swiftly. Kudos to all the staff. In normal times, this decision has to be commended, but in times of COVID 19, the decision was effective to avoid congregation of people waiting. Peter Hone Member I was in room 120 and the housekeeping staff was amazing. She and her co-worker were very organised and friendly.
