Editor’s Note Dear members, Warmest greetings from OCC! We hope the ladies had a blast at the recently concluded OCC Ladies Open 2023 on 25th Aug (Fri). Stay tuned to our next magazine issue to “see” the fun for yourself. Meanwhile do visit our Facebook page for the photos from the event. The 26th Secretary-General Cup and National Day Golf were held over the last 2 months and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your continuous support of our events. You can relive the excitement and highlights from these 2 golf events on pages 12-9. We have sought to also continuously improve and upgrading club facilities. Since April 2023, we have replaced the doors of the shower and toilet cubicles at the Recreation Clubhouse changing rooms and refurbished the Dendro and Aranda Halfway House toilets. To find out more, please turn to pages 6-5 for the “before” and “after” photos. More upgrading works are coming your way so do keep a look out. While reminiscing those moments, do keep a look out for our upcoming events like the upcoming September Quarterly Medals cum Members’s Engagement Session on 10 Sep 2023 (Sun) and the President Cup happening on 22 October 2023 (Sun). 5 The Orchid - CLUB NEWS Club Improvements Earlier this year, the Club made improvements to the phenolic door at the recreational clubhouse changing room for both the shower and toilets. This is part of our efforts to continually refresh our club facilities for the benefit of Members. Next up will be the refreshing of our sauna facilities, so stay tuned for it. After completion of the golf course renovation, OCC refurbished Aranda and Dendro Halfway house toilets in April 2023. Some of the improvements made were the replacement of the sanitary wares and fittings, installation of circulation and exhaust fans to improve the toilet ventilation and replacement of the existing fluorescent lights to energy saving light-emitting diodes (LED) lights. As we continue to upgrade and improve the Club facilities, we also hope members will do your part to take good care of these facilities and help maintain the facilities in tip top conditions for the enjoyment of everyone. Golfers were treated to buffet lunch at Vanda Terrace and teed-off with gusto at all 3 courses for the friendly match between OCC and NTUC. Delicious snacks such as satay and ice cream were strategically stationed around the courses to help golfers refuel during their game. After freshening up from the game, golfers then headed to Sapphire Suite for a delectable buffet dinner by Royal Palm. It was an evening filled with laughter as golfers sang along with the live band while enjoying their dinner and cheering on the winners. Congratulations to all winners and thank you all for making this wonderful event a success! We will see you at the Secretary-General’s Cup next year!

National Day Golf 11 The Orchid - GOLF It was a sight to behold when 199 golfers turned up at OCC on 9 August 2023 (Wednesday) morning for National Day Golf. After registering for the event, the golfers headed to the patio next to Vanda Terrace to the flag-raising ceremony and proudly sang the National Anthem. With a celebratory atmosphere and a great weather, the golfers teed-off and had lots of fun on the course. After freshening up, golfers were treated to delicious buffet lunch at Sapphire Suite to continue the celebration. It was an afternoon filled with patriotic cheers and laughter. We hope everyone had a great time and thank you for the support of our events. 31st OCC Supersprint Swim Series (July Edition) 19 The Orchid - GOLF After a 3-year hiatus, the 31st OCC Supersprint Swim Series is finally back! The Supersprint July edition drew 108 enthusiastic swimmers from various swim schools who competed against each other in the different swim categories. The swimmers were aged between 5 to 60 years old and had a great time challenging their peers in the respective age groups. It was indeed a day filled with energetic cheers and we look forward to seeing you in the next Supersprint Series slated to happen in November!
