Feeling the strain but not sure how to deal with it?
Here are some stretching exercises recommended
by our Social & Recreation Team to ease the muscle
tension and help you relax after a rough day.

Spinal Twist

1. Lie on your back and raise one of your knees then gently
roll it over to the opposite side.

2. Make sure both of your shoulders stay in contact with the
mat at all times.

3. If it feels comfortable, stretch one arm out to the side,
keeping it in line with your shoulders. Then slowly turn your
head to face your outstretched arm.

4. You should feel the stretch on the sides of your upper body
and your lower back.

5. Take deep breaths and stay in position for 20-30 seconds.
Repeat for other side.

6. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times.

Calf Stretch

1. Place your hands against a wall for support
2. Step back on one leg and gently push your

heel towards the ground.
3. Hold the position for 20-30 seconds. You should

feel a nice stretch along the back of your calf.
4. Repeat for other leg.
5. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times.

Knee-to-Chest Stretch

1. Lie flat on your back and bring one knee
to your chest.

2. Hold it in position with your hands for 20-30
seconds. You should feel a stretch in
your lower back.

3. Repeat for other side.
4. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times.

The Orchid — LIFESTYLE 18

Hamstring Stretch

2. Bend the other leg and position the sole of
that foot against your opposite inner thigh.

3. Extend your arms and reach forward over
the stretched-out leg as far as possible.

4. Hold the position for 20-30 seconds. You should
feel a stretch at the back of your thighs.

5. Repeat for other leg.

6. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times.

Cat-Camel Stretch

1. Get down on your knees and hands.

2. Take a deep breath slowly and lift your rib cage.
Round your back and relax your neck.

and lower your chest towards the floor.
Look up slightly.

Hip Flexor

1. Get down on one knee. Keep your core engaged
and back straight.

Staff Compliments

Hi Brother Thomas,

Just wanted to drop a note to thank your team for the
support rendered for a union event with ST Engineering

union leaders and senior management at Jade Foyer.

Sheena has been a great help in coordinating and
supporting our requests. I also appreciate Kumar’s
assistance in conjuring an additional vegetarian meal that
we forgot to highlight earlier. The union leader extends
his thanks too. Jouseph was also proactive in rendering
assistance when we had initial issues connecting with

other leaders who were at Sapphire Suite.

It’s a nice change to be able to organise more physical
meetings. Rest assured that OCC is at the back of our

minds when organising more of such meetings!
