GM’s Message Hello friends from OCC, In a blink of an eye, I have been with OCC for 100 days! It has been a wonderful experience for me. Your warm hospitality, friendship and support has allowed me to settle down very quickly. The last three months have been busy, but it has been very fulfilling and gratifying. We set out to improve the well-being of our staff, liven up the spirit of our club and most importantly, enhance your OCC experience. These three pillars are my areas of emphasis and allow me to elaborate further. First, we will take care of our people so that they will take care of our mission. Over the last few months, I have seen how all of you have showered love, care and concern towards our staff. From buying breakfast to generously giving compliments, I have been touched by your actions. It often warms my heart to see members and staff laughing over friendly banters around our club houses. On the club management end, we have also strived to improve the well-being of our staff. You will soon see new faces at the buggy area, at our social and recreation clubhouse and even in our maintenance team. OCC is an integrated resort that never sleeps. To ensure we maintain the highest standard of service delivery, we must ensure we have a sustainable workforce who are professional and committed to deliver. At the same time, we have also installed monster fans to mitigate the rising ambient temperature. Let us continue to work hand in hand to support our workforce who work tirelessly for our everyday. Second, the best memories in life are formed by having nights we will never forget, with friends we›ll always remember. To me, OCC is more than a resort and country club. As cliché as it may sound, OCC must be our home away from home. A place we look forward to coming to enjoy the facilities, to catch up with friends and to partake in a myriad of activities. To that end, we have started a few activities. Since February, we started a weekly karaoke night for the songbirds. Since April, we started our monthly social golf and members’ night. The attendance has been very encouraging and I thank everyone for your support. We will continue to do more. For example, a monthly social dance night will be starting soon! Come and dance the night away! Finally, we want you to enjoy what OCC can offer. On the F&B end, our Vanda Terrace vendor, Jun Hang, has settled down after the initial rush in setting up at the start of this year. Moving forward, he will also be opening up ‘Min Chao’, a private dining restaurant serving Asian Fusion food. On the travel front, we have launched our travel series where we want to bring members to different parts of the world to golf, to tour or simply enjoy each other’s company. In our golfing scene, we will also start increasing our night golfing days to meet everyone’s desire to play more golf. Moving forward, we are also planning a longest drive competition to see who is our longest drive champion. After all, a bad day at golf is 100 times better than a good day at work! It has been an amazing journey thus far but I will be honest to admit that there is a lot more to be done. Where we do well, we will keep at it and continue to deliver. Where we fall short, we will own our shortcomings and get better. Together, OCC will be the most desired club; envied by many, enjoyed by the privileged few. And yes, I kicked her out of my mother’s womb. Since your introduction to OCC, what has stood out to you most about OCC? The warm hospitality of OCC members. When I walked around and introduced myself to members, they always reply me with a warm smile and hearty handshake. 1 2 3 If we were to look for you in OCC, where can we find you? Everywhere! 9 The Orchid - GOLF Festive spirit was in the air as 176 golfers turned up at OCC on 17 December 2023 (Sun) for the Christmas Golf event dressed in Christmas theme outfits. After collecting their goodies bags, participants headed to Emerald Suite to fuel up with buffet lunch before teeing off at 1pm. It was a fun day of golf as participants pit their skills against each other whilst posing for the camera. As night falls, golfers returned to the clubhouse to freshen up then headed to Sapphire Suite for the delicious buffet dinner awaiting them. Everyone partied the night and had an enjoyable time together. The Orchid - GOLF 12 Lion Dance Performance The traditional Lion Dance performance at the Golf Clubhouse kick-started the Hong Bao Golf Special on 18 February 2024 (Sun) with their energetic moves and spectacular “Cai Qing” (plucking the green) performance. The Lion troupe moved around the Club premises, blessing the Club, members and tenants with good luck and fortune. Mandarin oranges and candies were also given out by God of Fortune to those who graced the event. What a spectacular start to the day’s activities!
13 The Orchid - GOLF On Sunday, 18 February 2024, 242 golfers dressed in auspicious red, turned up for the Hong Bao Golf Special to celebrate the lunar festive season. Sumptuous buffet lunch as served at Emerald Suite for golfers to fuel up before their game. After watching the Lion Dance Performance, participants headed to the buggy bay for a group photo before teeing-off. Novelty events included Nearest to Yu (Abundance), Fu Dai (Prosperity Bag), Fu Lantern (Prosperity Lantern). Hidden surprises, Ingot, were placed around the golf courses. Lucky golfers who found them, won themselves a mystery prize. As evening drew close, participants freshen themselves and headed to Grand Ballroom where a delicious Chinese sit-down dinner with Lo Hei awaited them. Everyone tossed to a good year ahead after an exciting game. With live music, dancing and good food, everyone definitely had a great time the lively mood carried on throughout the night. 33rd OCC Supersprint Swim Meet (April Edition) On 7 Apr 2024 (Sun), 240 swimmers from various swim schools and clubs, aged between 5 to 60 years old, turned up at OCC Olympic-sized Pool and competed against each other in the different swim categories.
