Editor’s Note Dear Members, Warmest greetings from OCC! We held our first ever Quarterly Medals cum Members Engagement Night on the 21st of May 2023 (Sun). This was the first time we tried out such as format and there were positive feedback from OCC Members. Member took this chance to interact and share their feedback while Committee members were able to provide the latest Club updates. Overall, participants got to enjoy a game of golf, good food and interact with OCC Committee members and management. With National Day just round the corner, we would like to wish all Singaporeans a Happy National Day in advance! For the golfers, do remember to register for the National Day golf before registration closes on the 16th of July and come dressed in our national colours – Red and White. Besides National Day Golf, ladies it’s time for a golf gathering with the sisters! Ladies Open is on 25th of August 2023 (Fri) so get ready to register soon. More details are available on page 14. Moving on to social events, we are bringing back the Supersprint Series after a -3year hiatus! It’s time to put on those swimsuits and challenge yourself once more. For more information on event registration and details, please turn to page 20. If dancing is more of your thing, the annual August Ball will be held at Grand Ballroom on 19 August 2023 (Sat). Tickets are already on sale at Sports Counter at Social Clubhouse so hurry and get your tickets before it sold out. Check out the details of August Ball on page 18. On a more exciting note, FairPrice is back in the club! FairPrice closed its retail outlet at OCC during the COVID 19 pandemic and converted to a warehouse to support online purchase. OCC worked very hard to convince FairPrice to reopen and we are delighted that they have re-opened its retail store at OCC on 12 Jun 2023. OCC members will continue to enjoy %2 discounts and special promotions. Do pop by to get your groceries and necessities while in the Club. The inaugural Quarterly Medal incorporated social play for golfers who prefer to play leisure golf, a little drift from the usual monthly medal held. Golfers started the day with delicious buffet lunch at Vanda Terrace before teeing off. 11 The Orchid - GOLF
Members’ Engagement Session After an exciting game of golf, golfers then headed to the Members’ Engagement Session held at Sapphire Suite where scrumptious buffet dinner catered by Royal Palm awaits. Greens Committee Members and OCC management also attended the engagement session to get to know our members and gather feedback on Club matters over dinner, live music and drinks. One of the positive feedback received from members was their appreciation for the organization of such events to encourage camaraderie. There was also constructive feedback such as the need for more rakes to encourage golfers to rake and to have more inter-club away games for members. OCC management will be looking into organising more overseas golf trips and also looking into the other feedback received and continue to improve further. It was an overall fruitful session for both OCC and Committee members alike. Lastly, congratulations to all the winners of the Quarterly Medal and we look forward to seeing you again in our next Quarterly Medals cum Members’ Engagement Session.
