Editor’s note Dear Members, Greetings from OCC! We hope everyone enjoyed the Lunar New Year celebrations with family and friends and wishing all a “huat” year ahead. After a 2-year hiatus, the Club resumed the Hong Bao Golf Special and we were finally able to welcome an energetic lion dance performance in Club to kick off the celebrations. There was many boisterous laughter from golfers which livened up the Club and Members were able to catch up, meet old and new friends. For those who wish to relive the fun, do flip to pages 10 to 12. The arrival of the new fleet of buggies was timely as golfers playing at the Hong Bao Golf Special got to drive the new buggies and experience the new features first-hand. A GPS system, an overhead storage compartment and a USB port, are some of the new features of this new fleet. A basic walk-through guide on how to use the GPS system have been included in this issue. You will find the guide on pages 15 and 16. As part of our efforts to build relationships with our overseas partner, Club recently hosted The Western Australian Golf Club at OCC and golfers from both clubs pitted their skills against each other. It was definitely an unforgettable afternoon for all participants and if you wish to find out which club won, please turn to page 13 to find out. There are upcoming events such as the Estate Planning Seminar on 29 Mar 2023 (Wed), Ladies Fun Game on 2 Apr 2023 (Sun) and Captain & Lady Captain’s Cup on 16 Apr 2023 (Sat). Do remember to register early if you are interested to avoid disappointment. Looking forward to seeing you in the Club soon and Happy Easter to all! The Editorial Team 3 The Orchid — CLUB NEWS

216 enthusiastic golfers turned up for the Hong Bao Golf Special held on 29 Jan 2023 (Sun), dressed in bright colours to celebrate the lunar festive season. After an energising lunch at Emerald Suite, golfers watched the Lion Dance performance before teeing-off at all 3 golf courses. Surprise items such as, Fire Cracker, Ong Lai (Pineapple) and Lucky Rabbit were hidden around the golf courses and lucky golfers who found these items were rewarded with mystery prizes. The event went well and was well-received by the bosses and union Dear Ms Grace Tan, After becoming a term member for the past 1.5 years, it is time for me to compliment your staff for their outstanding service and support to members. Most of them are very courteous and patient in dealing with members to ensure we have good golfing experience. Particularly I will like to compliment Phoon, July and Su for their hard work in handling the online booking. I know very often they work late into the evening. I want to thank them for helping some members who are slow in submitting the booking forms to get a chance to play from time to time. In my opinion, all your new Vietnamese staff are doing great, learning fast on the job too. Also, I will also want to compliment Saran who is very professional as a Marshal. I noted that he always encourages slower flights to expedite their game and he does it in a very friendly and professional way. I remember when I was new, I once parked my buggy at the wrong spot beside the fairway and he politely pointed it out to me. I must say that I have always enjoyed very much my golf games in the Club.
