About the Author
Chapter 1
I, D eborah Sampson was a women who fought in the Revolutionary War dressed as a
man. I always wanted to fight for my country, but I known that I couldn’t. That didn’t
stop me. I hiked up my dress and I went out to buy a man's outfit, for me to wear. I had a
wounded finger in the field and was never able to bended it right. I made a stupid
mistake, I tried to enlist in my own ton. The lady noticed the way I signed my name and
said, “ You are Deborah Sampson, from the field she was never able to bend her finger
right.” The next time that I tried to enlist I went to a town far from mine, and succeeded.
My Childhood
I Break Away to my Aunt
I, Deborah Sampson was born on December 17, 1760 in Plympton, Massachusetts.
My father, Jonathan Sampson left. I made a mistake, I tried to enlist in the army at my
own town. They person enlisting me noticed the way I held my pen to sign my man
name. I hurt my family. My mom Deborah Bradford had 6 children to take care of not
including myself. So my mom sent her 7 kids off to work. At age 8 it was 1768, and I was
worked to the bone by my aunt. My aunt had kids and I took care off them. I read their
school books at night because I wanted to learn and go to school but I'm not allowed. I
taught them, myself most of the time.
The Preacher
Later in 1770 I was 10 and a preacher took me in. I worked for him and he didn't
work me to the bone. He treated me with respect. I ended up teaching his boys, from
reading their school books at night. When I was a young adult I earned a living by being a
school teacher for a few years. I learned how to hunt, ride a horse, and how to be a
carpenter. I wanted to go school so badly. The more that I went without going the more I
wanted to go to school. The boys I babysat couldn't stand school, they didn't want to go
to school. I was a young patior, do you want to know more?
Chapter 2
A Young Patriot I was
I’m going to Boston?!
When I was done the dishes I went out to pack the wagon with Deacon Thomas. As
I packed the wagon with Deacon Thomas, we both petted the big bay and stroke the black
main. I was also not excited about going to Boston due to the unfortunate Boston Tea
Party. I finally got to go to Boston due to the fact that I drove the wagon. I drove the
wagon because I needed to get food to the people at Boston. As we drove we had to stop
at Campbell Inn to give Bob water and rest. This was burning the war.
The Boston Tea Party
I hated the Boston Tea Party. It was the worst. Mohawk’s threw British tea off of 3
ships. It wasn’t just any Mohawk Indian tribe though, they were just angry colonists who
dressed up in blankets and smeared red paint and coal dust on their faces. The Mohawk
Indians had a fight with britain because Britain thought that the Mohawks were the ones
throwing the tea. The mohawks also got in a fight with the colonies, because they did it.
Before the war there was a word war between the British, The Colions, and The Indians.
Do you want to know about my soldier life?
Chapter 3
My Soldier life
I was at the base to get up and ready for a day of war.
I don't hear any guns shooting this morning. No cannons roaring. So I can get up at my
speed today. I’ll get up and put my cloth over my chest, so I have a flat cheat. Let me get
dressed, I’ll put my white t-shirt on first. Secondly I’ll put my blue jacket with silver
buttons on. Thirdly I’m going to put my gray pants on and my bag with ammo and
supplies for me. Now for my hat with a red feather. My hat is black with a white picture
on it.
Breakfast Time
I can finally get breakfast without hiding so I don’t get shoot. I also don’t have to
worry about eating fast so I can go battle.
Now I’ll eat my breakfast, Hardtack, and drink my water. We can’t just drink water
from the river, we have to boil the water before we drink it. In the war we raise livestock
like chickens, cows, and pigs. We also grow crops like corn, and other vegetables. We use
corn for everything. I cook meals for the genal of our army.
In Fact...
A fun fact about me is that I joined the army and war for adventure. Another fun
fact is that I was the general's “Aide”, so I got baths in private. No one knew that I was a
woman when I was taking a bath. I was wounded in battle. The wounds were to the head
by a sword and I got shot in the leg. The doctor discovered that I was a woman when I
came down with a servion feaver. The doctor send George Washington a note saying that
I was a woman. After the war I got married. There’s more.
Chapter 4
After the American Revolution War
After the War From 1784-1797
After the American Revolution I married Benjamin Gannett in 1784 to 1785. He was
a massachusetts farmer. In 1797 I got a reward from Congress for fighting in the
American Revolutionary War. The female reward was published in the same year, 1797.
After the war I gave tours of what I did in the War, all over the united States. I mostly
gave tours in Ohio, because Ohio is a far way to go.
After the War From 1818-2004
The American Freedom train relates to my relationship with the military, in 1818. I
died on April 29,1827. H er statue is very famous. I died from natural causes. I was 67 when
I died. In 1902 they had a dinner party at Sharon Hall for my 100’s anniversary. The
anniversary is for my speaking tours. In 1944 in Baltimore, MD a WWII Liberty ship was
launched, named the “Deborah Gannett.” The “Deborah Sampson” song was sung at my
memorial in 1976. She was remembered in ourn of the United States Bicentennial
Celebration. the Texas Boys choir sang a song about me for the celebration. 2004 my
legistly was still alive, today. It is like I’m still alive to. This is what I did after the war. I
have inspired women to fight in their true identity.
Chapter 5
I Inspirer Woman To Fight (Essay)
(Not from her point of view)
Deborah Sampson has inspired other women to fight and that’s an important
historical moment made by Deborah Sampson, the girl who went to war. On reason is
Deborah Sampson has inspired woman to enlist in the military as there true inderenity.
Another reason why Deborah Sampson made a historical moment is she has inspired me,
Savannah Quave.
She still inspires woman to fight in the war, army, airforce, marines, navy and
military. She has inspired 203,000 woman to enlist in their true identity in the military
and other lines of defence.
Deborah Sampson also inspired me, Savannah Quave, to do what I like to do. Even
if it was a boy like sport or thing, I still did it do to Deborah Sampson. I don't listen to
people telling me to do what I should like and what I should no like. I will do what I do
even if not many other girls do. This is why Deborah Sampson still inspires people and
women to do what they do, even if it’s not likely for a girl to do. This is a historical
moment that is very important that Deborah Sampson created.
