Akron Homewood Suites Opens

On November 13, TMI’s newest hotel opened its doors. The Akron (OH)
Homewood Suites, a 105-unit hotel located near the growing downtown
Akron area, is set adjacent to our Courtyard. Construction is underway
on another nearby TMI hotel, the Akron Fairfield Inn & Suites, which will
open in 2015.

Congratulations to all of the team members involved in the
development and opening of this hotel.

Peoria Residence Inn Celebrates Diwali

The Peoria (IL) Residence Inn recently went all out to celebrate Diwali, which
is a India’s Festival of Lights. The hotel put up decorations and served their
guests a buffet of Indian foods (catered by a local restaurant) and sweet
treats.

Sioux Falls Fairfield Inn & Suites Airport Hosts First Birthday

Happy birthday to the Sioux Falls (SD) Fairfield Inn & Suites Airport. This fall, the hotel celebrated its first year
in operation. To commemorate the occasion, the hotel hosted a birthday party, complete with lunch, gifts and
sweet treats. Guests were treated to a candy bar filled with an assortment of candies, confections and cookies - an
impressive way to celebrate a successful year and the team’s achievements.

Grand Reopening

Congratulations to the Tyler (TX) Fairfield Inn & Suites
team. The hotel team, led by GM Steven Cottrell,
celebrated its grand reopening this week with a ribbon
cutting. The hotel team and members of the community
are pictured at right.

Rally to Serve

Fairfield Inn & Suites teams recently had the opportunity to
play a part in an effort to volunteer and raise funds for Habitat
for Humanity as part of the brand’s Rally to Serve initiative. A
large number of TMI Fairfield teams participated, with 51 hotels
registering! We are excited to share these numbers with our
Fairfield brand partners and with our team. Great job TMI!

The teams sent us photos of the fun being had while helping the
Habitat organizations in our neighborhoods, which can be viewed on MyTMI. Thank you to all the TMIers who
participated, and congratulations to those who won prizes, which included pizza parties for their teams and $100
donations to their local Habitat.

New Team Members

Chantae earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising and journalism from North
Dakota State University in Fargo. Before joining our team, she served as sales assistant for Radio
FM Media in Fargo. She currently coaches gymnastics and cheerleading for TNT Kid’s Fitness and
Gymnastics in Fargo.

Chantae Busse “Making a great first impression only takes three seconds! I believe in being courteous and
friendly to our guests and doing my work with passion and energy. An Impression Maker! strives
to exceed the expectation of their team and their guests by making sure that all goals, needs and
deadlines are met.”

Purchasing Agent

Dale Kile Dale is currently earning her associate’s degree in business from Minnesota State Community
and Technical College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She previously served as manager of Red
Pepper in Fargo and as a guest service agent at the Expressway Suites in Fargo.

Deb Olson Deb has returned to our team after being away for eight years. Outside of TMI, her work
experience includes serving as a purchasing agent for Summit Group in Sioux Falls, S.D., and as
a bookkeeper for Lewis Drug in Huron and Hornbachers in Fargo.

“Being an Impression Maker means going above and beyond to get the job done, whether that
means staying late or doing whatever is necessary to help your teammates. At the end of each

Tom Smith Tom serves as a revenue analyst in the Peoria corporate office. He previously served as accounts
payable clerk for the Bloomington Marriott and Conference Center in Normal, Illinois. Before
that, he worked in management for Wal-Mart for 18 years.

Kudos to Courtney Boever, a guest service agent at the Woodbury (MN) Hampton Inn. She proved the
importance of guest recovery, as evidenced by the note the hotel received from a guest.
“After I checked into my room, I noticed that it had a strong smoke odor. When I called the front desk,
Courtney immediately found me a different room and went out of her way to personally make sure the situation
was taken care of.
“When I returned from dinner, I found a personal note and treats left in my room to apologize for the situation. I was touched
that she took the time to apologize and appreciated it very much.
“I wasn’t upset, as I know that sometimes things happen, but the way your team handled the situation was the best example of
problem solving I have experienced.​Courtney went above and beyond and is an asset to your hotel.”

Thanksgiving Fun

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Comes to Westchase

Westchase (TX) Homewood Suites team members were joined by their guests as they celebrated the
Homewood Suites float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This Thanksgiving, ​TMIers at the Westchase (TX) Homewood Suites watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with their
guests. Homewood Suites was the only hotel brand with a float in the parade. The float, which featured the Homewood Suites
mascot Lewis the Duck, can be seen below at right. At left, Westchase Homewood Suites team members pose in the lobby with
Lewis the Duck ornaments in celebration of the occasion.
