Learning new stump grinder

Public Works acquired a stump grinder
so that stump removal on City property
can be done in-house moving forward.
On Friday, a representative from Vermeer
gave an overview and hands-on training
at Family Park with members of Public
Works, including Street and Urban Forestry
divisions, and Parks & Trails (photo at
right). The machine can knock out a small
stump, like seen in the foreground of the
photo, in as little as five minutes.

Freddy Padilla of the Urban
Forestry Division takes a turn
at the new stump grinder.

HSPD participates in community events

The Hot Springs Police Department (HSPD) had another busy
week in the community, including the following:

• HSPD attended Garland County Reads at the Farmer’s
Market with approximately 500 plus kids in attendance.
HSPD also participated in Langston Loves Reading.

• Robbery prevention training was conducted at three area
banking institutions.

• More than 400 vaccinations were administered at the
biannual rabies drive at the Hot Springs Mall parking lot.

Boo with a Badge candy donations needed

HSPD would also like to remind everyone that Boo with a
Badge is only three short weeks away, so please consider
donating a bag of candy to support the cause and make sure to
bring your kids and grandkids for a great night of fun.

Cpl. Joey Williams, far
left, and City Manager
Bill Burrough, left, both
participated at the Garland
County Reads event.

Weekly Snapshot highlights some of the recent projects from the various City of Hot Springs departments
and is part of the City’s efforts to broaden its communications with the public.
