พระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณ น ามเดิม แปลง น ามสกุล เพชรพันธ์ เกิดที่บ้ านวังหรัง ต�ำบลควนลัง อ�ำเภอห าดใหญ่ จังหวัดสงขล า บิด าชื่อน ายสี เพชรพันธ์ ม ารด าชื่อน างนุ่ม น ามสกุลเดิม พุทธวิโร เป็นช าวควนลังด้วยกัน น ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ มีพี่น้องด้วยกัน 2 คน คือ น ายคง เพชรพันธ์และน ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ พระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณ ช าตะเมื่อวันอ าทิตย์ที่ 24 ตุล าคม พ.ศ. 2452 ท่ านเกิด ม าในครอบครัวช าวน า ผู้ประกอบด้วยสัมม า อ าชีวะและมีคว ามขยัน อันเป็นตัวอย่ างที่ดี ครอบครัวหนึ่ง โดยท�ำน าปลูกข้ าวเป็นหลัก เลี้ยงสัตว์และปลูกพืชผลเป็นอ าชีพเสริม เมื่อวัยเย าว์เด็กช ายแปลงส่อคว ามฉล าดหลักแหลมกว่ าเด็กรุ่นเย าว์วัยในละแวกเดียวกัน ครั้นเมื่อถึงอ ายุเข้ าเกณฑ์ศึกษ า เด็กช ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ ได้เข้ าเรียนหนังสือที่โรงเรียน ประช า บ าลวัดม่วงค่อม ต�ำบลควนลัง เด็กช ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ มีคว ามขยันในก ารเรียน เป็นอย่ างดี จบชั้นประถมปีที่ 3 ซึ่งเป็นชั้นสูงสุดในขณะนั้น เมื่อจบแล้วอยู่บ้ านช่วยง า น พ่อแม่ต ามอัธย าศัย นับว่ าได้แบ่งเบ า ภ าระของผู้บังเกิดเกล้ าได้อีกคนหนึ่ง และแล้วคว ามผันผวนในชีวิตของครอบครัวดังกล่ าวนี้ก็เกิดขึ้น เมื่อน ายสี เพชรพันธ์ ผู้เปรียบเสมือนเส าหลักของครอบครัวได้ถึงแก่กรรม ทั้งๆ ที่น ายคง เพชรพันธ์ กับน ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ ยังไม่มีคว ามสันทัดต่ออ าชีพของครอบครัวเท่ าใดนัก น างนุ่ม เพชรพันธ์ จึงได้ไปขอหล านส าวชื่อน างส าวนวล แก้วสว่ าง ลูกของพี่ส าว ม าช่วยง านใน ครอบครัวอีกแรงหนึ่ง จึงท�ำให้ฝ่ ามรสุมไปได้ วันเวล าผ่ านไปไม่กี่ปี น างส าวนวล แก้วสว่ าง ซึ่งมีศักดิ์เป็นผู้พี่ของน ายคงและ น ายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ ก็ได้มีน ายแคล้ว ทองแกมแก้ว ให้ผู้ใหญ่ม าสู่ขอน างส าวนวลและ แล้วก็ได้แต่งง านกัน ไปตั้งหลักปักฐ านอยู่ที่บ้ านท่ าช้ าง ต�ำบลบ างกล�่ำ ซึ่งในเวล านั้นยังไม่ ได้ยกฐ านะขึ้นเป็นอ�ำเภอ ต�ำบลบ างกล�่ำยังขึ้นอยู่กับอ�ำเภอห าดใหญ่ พ่อท่านแปลง เกจิอาจารย์ดัง แหล่งศรัทธา ยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจ ควนลังบ้านเรา : เมืองสวยงาม สงบ สุข 163

ต่อมานายแคล้วกับนางนวล ทองแกมแก้ว ก็ได้ขอนายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ ไปอยู่ด้วย ช่วยงานบ้านงานนาอีกแรงหนึ่ง ด้วยเหตุที่นายแปลง เป็นคนขยันและตั้งใจช่วยการงานพี่สาว และพี่เขยด้วยความเต็มใจ จึงเป็นที่รักของพี่สาวและพี่เขยเป็นอย่างยิ่ง อันประเพณีไทยแท้แต่โบราณนั้น ย่อมรู้โดยทั่วกันแล้วว่า เมื่อใครมีลูกชายหลานชาย หรือเหลนชายก็ดี เมื่อถึงวัยที่ต้องบวชเรียนแล้ว ก็ต้องน�ำไปถวายตัวเป็นเจ้านาค เพื่อเตรียมตัว บวชเป็นพระภิกษุในพระพุทธศาสนาต่อไป ดังนั้น เมื่อถึงเวลาดังกล่าวนี้ นายแคล้วกับนางนวล ทองแกมแก้ว จึงได้น�ำนายแปลง เพชรพันธ์ ไปถวายเป็นเจ้านาค ฝากตัวกับพระอธิการเขียว ติสสโร (พ่อท่านเขียว) เจ้าอาวาสวัดควนลัง ต่อมาก็ได้บวชเป็นพระภิกษุในบวรพุทธศาสนา เมื่อวันที่ 21 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2472 ณ พัทธสีมาวัดควนลัง ต�ำบลควนลัง อ�ำเภอหาดใหญ่ จังหวัดสงขลา โดยมีพระอุปัชฌาย์เพชร วัดโคกม่วง เป็นอุปัชฌาย์ พระอธิการเขียว ติสสโร เป็นพระกรรมวาจาจารย์ พระมหายก ติสสโร วัดจักรวรรดิราชาวาส กรุงเทพมหานคร เป็น อนุสาวนาจารย์ โดยให้ชื่อว่า พระแปลง ติสสโร สมดังความปรารถนาของผู้บังเกิดเกล้า ผู้ชูชุบอุปถัมภ์ ตลอดจนถึงบรรดาวงศาคณาญาติเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ควนลังบ้านเรา : เมืองสงบสุข สวยงาม 165

วันเกิด วันที่ 24 ตุล าคม พ.ศ. 2452 วันอุปสมบท วันที่ 21 พฤศจิก ายน พ.ศ. 2472 วันได้รับตร าตั้งเป็นเจ้ า อ า ว าสวัดควนลัง วันที่ 11 พฤษภ าคม พ.ศ. 2492 วันรับตร าตั้งเป็นเจ้ า อ า ว าสวัดควนลัง วันที่ 20 พฤษภ าคม พ.ศ. 2496 วันได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็นกรรมก ารสอบธรรมสน ามหลวง วันที่ 31 ธันว าคม พ.ศ. 2496 วันได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็นพระอุปัชฌ าย์ วันที่ 9 มีน าคม พ.ศ. 2503 วันได้รับเป็นพระครูสัญญ าบัตรเจ้ าคณะต�ำบลชั้นตรี วันที่ 5 ธันว าคม พ.ศ. 2503 ได้รับเลื่อนสมณศักดิ์เป็นเจ้ าคณะต�ำบลชั้นโท วันที่ 5 ธันว าคม พ.ศ. 2518 ท่ านพระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณได้ถึงแก่มรณภ าพด้วยโรคชร า เมื่อวันที่ 25 กุมภ าพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2544 เมื่อเวล า 05.45 น. รวมอ ายุได้ 93 ปี รวมพรรษ าได้ 73 ก าลฝน อนุทินชีวิตของพระครูวิศาลธรรมคุณ 166 ควนลังบ้านเรา : เมืองสวยงาม สงบ สุข

ผลงานด้านสาธารณูปโภคของพระครูวิศาลธรรมคุณ เมื่อท่านได้รับตำแหน่งเจ้าอาวาสวัดควนลัง ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2402 มาแล้วนั้น ได้เป็นประธานก่อสร้างสิ่งที่เป็นสาธารณูปโภคไว้ดังนี้ ....................................................................................................................... พ.ศ. 2494 ได้สร้ างกุฏิถ าวรแบบครึ่งตึกครึ่งไม้ขึ้น 1 หลัง ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 120,000 บ า ท พ.ศ. 2498 สร้ างศ า ล า ก ารเปรียญ 1 หลัง ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 250,021บ า ท พ.ศ. 2500 สร้ างกุฏิแบบครึ่งตึกครึ่งไม้ 1 หลัง ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 12,500 บ า ท พ.ศ. 2501 เป็นประธ านสร้ างหอระฆังไว้ในวัด ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 5,000 บ าท ส�ำเร็จเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2501 พ.ศ. 2502 สร้ างโรงครัว 1 หลัง ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 5,000 บ าท ส�ำเร็จเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2503 พ.ศ. 2503 เป็นประธ านจัดสร้ างถังน�้ำประป าใช้ภ ายในวัด ร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 15,600 บ าท ส�ำเร็จเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2504 พ.ศ. 2503 เป็นประธ านจัดสร้ างศ า ล าอ�ำนวยก าร 1 หลังร า ค าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 17,000 บ าท ส�ำเร็จเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2506 พ.ศ. 2503 เป็นประธ านจัดสร้ างโรงเรียนพระปริยัติธรรม แผนกธรรมขึ้น 1 หลัง สิ้นค่ าก่อสร้ างประม าณ 200,000 บ าท ส�ำเร็จเรียบร้อย เมื่อ พ.ศ.2512 โรงเรียนหลังนี้ คณะศิษย านุศิษย์ตั้งขื่อว่ า “โรงเรียนพระปริยัติธรรมวิศ าลธรรมคุณ” ด้ านก ารศึกษ านั้น “พระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณ” ได้ตั้งใจสนับสนุนช่วยดูแลส่งเสริมให้บรรด าพระภิกษุ ส ามเณรได้รับก ารศึกษ า ห าคว ามรู้อย่ างเต็มที่ ดังที่ประช าชนทั่วไปได้เห็นประจักษ์กันแล้วว่ า ลูกศิษย์ของท่ านได้เข้ าศึกษ าต่อโดยคว ามสนับสนุนของท่ าน สอบได้ เป็นพระมห าเปรียญกันหล ายรูป และที่เป็นฆร า ว าสก็ได้รับร าชก ารในต�ำแหน่งอันมีเกียรติอย่ างนับไม่ถ้วน ทั้งนั้นและทั้งนี้ก็เพร าะเป็นก า ร เริ่มต้นที่ดีจ าก “พระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณ” นั่นแลฯ ขอบคุณเนื้อห าและภ าพ : อนุสรณ์ง านพระร าชท านเพลิงศพ พระครูวิศ าลธรรมคุณ : กลุ่มบ ารมีพ่อท่ านแปลง วัดควนลัง อหึสโก ภิกขุ : ผู้เรียบเรียง ควนลังบ้านเรา : เมืองสวยงาม สงบ สุข 167

Pra Kru Wisan Dhammakun or original name Plaeng with sur - name Petpan was born at Wan Rang Village, Khuanlang Subdistrict, Hatyai District, Songkhla Province. His father, Mr. See Petpan, and his mother, Mrs. Num with original surname Puttawiro, were Khuanlang people. Mr. Plaeng Petpan has one brother namely Mr. Kong Petpan. Pra Kru Wisan Dhammakun was born on Sunday, 24th October 2452 BE (1909 AD) in a farmer family which pursued good deeds with diligence and could be considered one of the good examples. The family grew rice as a main career along with taking care of cattle and fruits. During childhood he reflected greater intelligence than those with the same age. When he was ready for the school, he was a student at local school of MuangKhom Temple, Khuanlang Subdistrict. Master Plaeng Petpan was diligent in studying and finished Pratom 3 which was the highest level at that time. After that he helped his parents in the house as possible which could alleviate their burdens to a certain extent. And then happened the twist of fate in the family when Me. See Petpan who was the main support of the family passed away despite of the fact that Mr.Kong Petpan and Mr. Plaeng Petpan had not enough kills to pursue the family career. Mrs. Num Petpan there - fore asked Miss Nual Kaewsawang, a daughter of her sister, to help. Then the family could move on. A few years later, Miss Nual Kaewsawang, as a cousin of Mr. Kong and Plaeng Petpan was asked by the elderly to marry Mr. Kloa Tongkamkaew. They got married and settled in Tachang Village, Bangklam Subdistrict which at that time was still a subdistrict of Hatyai District. Later Mr. Klaew and Mrs. Nual Thongkaemkaew asked to have Mr. Plaeng Petpan to help at the house and rice fields due to the fact that Mr. Plaeng was diligent and willingly determined to help his sister and his brother -in-law, which was the reason why they loved him very much. With Thai tradition, it is well known that anyone who has a son or nephew when he is at the age of being ordained, he must be taken to the temple to get ready. Therefore, Mr. Klaew and Mrs. Nual took Mr. Plaeng Petpan to the temple to Abbot Kiew Tissaro (Father Monk Kiew), the abbot of Khuanlang Temple at that time, to get prepared for the ordination ceremony. Later he was ordained to become a Buddhist monk on 21st May 2472 BE (1929 AD) at the church of Khuanlang Temple, Khuanlang Subdistrict, Hatyai District, Songkhla Province, with abbot Pet of Muang Khom Temple as the head monk of ordination ceremony and abbot KiewTissaro as a chanting monk and Phra Maha Yok Tissaro of Chakkrawat Rachaswas Temple in Bangkok as the other chanting monk and he got his monk name as Phra Paeng Tissaro, as wished by his parents, guardians and relatives. In 2494 BE (1951 AD), a permanent monk’s house, half cement half wood, was built with the cost of 120,000 Baht and finished in 2496 BE (1953 AD). In 2498 BE (1955 AD), a sermon hall was built with the cost of 250,021 Baht and finished in 2505 BE (1962 AD). In 2500 BE (1957 AD), another monk’s house, half cement half wood, was built with the cost of 12,500 Baht and finished in 2501 BE (1958 AD). In 2498 BE (1955 AD), he was a chairman to build a bell tower in the temple with the cost of 5,000 Baht and finished in 2505 BE (1962 AD). In 2502 BE (1959 AD), a kitchen house was built with the cost of 5,000 Baht and finished in 2503 BE (1960 AD). In 2503 BE (1960 AD), he was a chairman to build a water utility tank with the cost of 15,600 Baht and finished in 2504 BE (1961 AD). In 2503 BE (1960 AD), he was a chairman to build an administration house with the cost of about 17,000 Baht and finished in 2506 BE (1963 AD). In 2503 BE (1960 AD), he was a chairman to build a Phrapariyattidhamma School (a monk school) with the cost of about 200,000 Baht and finished in 2512 BE (1969 AD). (This school is called by followers as Wisan Dhammakun Phrapariyattidhamma School. In the area of education, Pra Kru Wisan Dhammakun intended to support monks and novices to have full opportunities in studying and the public recognized that a number his followers could further their studies to become graduates of Buddhist theology. Those who were secular could successfully got honored position in government offices. All of these were clearly due to invaluable initiations by Pra Kru Wisan Dhammakun.
