Naantali-Långnäs-Kapellskär -reitillä liikennöi kaksi laivaa, Star-luokan alus MS Finnswan ja Clip-
per-luokan alus MS Finnfellow. Isompaan MS Finnswaniin mahtuu peräti 554 matkustajaa sekä
noin 4 kilometriä lastia: henkilöautoja, hevoskuljetuksia, rekkoja ja trailereita. MS Finnfellow
puolestaan ottaa kyytiin 440 matkustajaa ja noin 2,8 kilometriä lastia.

In this magazine you can find useful information about our services on route
Naantali–Långnäs–Kapellskär.
MS Finnswan and MS Finnfellow operate on our Naantali-Långnäs-Kapellskär route. MS
Finnswan, the larger of the two accommodates up to 554 passengers and takes on board
approximately 4 kilometers of cargo. Cargo includes, for example, passenger vehicles, horse
transports, truck and trailers. MS Finnfellow takes on board 440 passengers and 2,8 kilometers of
cargo.
Our duty-free Sailor’s Shop is definitely worth visiting during your trip - so come and explore our
wide product range and super shop offers. Also keep an eye out for our fantastic Star Club offers
for members only.
In our buffet restaurant you can have a warm and hardy meal while enjoying the breathtaking
views of the Finnish Archipelago. The best part is that it won’ t cost you a dime more since meals

Insinööri Petterson

Insinööri Petterson niminen loisto on rakennettu vuonna 1909 ja se on saanut nimensä suunnit-
telijansa Luotsi- ja majakkalaitoksen insinöörin Karl R Pettersonin mukaan. Erityisesti vanhem-
milla merenkulkijoilla on tapana yhä edelleen tervehtiä loistoa ja toivoa itselleen onnistunutta
merimatkaa ja palatessaan vielä kiittää hyvin menneestä matkasta heittämällä muutama
kolikko mereen. Loiston kylkeen on kiinnitetty insinööri-
liiton tunnuskuvio ja Turun tekniikan opiskelijoiden viimeisen
vuosikurssin oppilaat kiillottavat laatan keväisin. Insinööri
Petterson sijaitsee reitillämme noin 1 h ja 15 min laivamatkan
päässä Naantalin satamasta.
Beacon Engineer Petterson is named after Karl R Petterson, an
engineer at the Institute of Marine Pilots and Lighthouses.
Traditionally, older seafarers greet this beacon and wish for a
successful sea voyage. Upon returning, they thank the beacon for
a safe journey by throwing a few coins into the sea. The emblem
of the Finnish Engineering Association is attached to the side of the beacon and the graduating
class of the engineering school in Turku polish the plaque every spring. Beacon Engineer
Petterson is on our route, approximately one hour and 15min from the Naantali harbour.

Gustaf Dalén

Gustaf Dalénin loisto sijaitsee Kihdin selällä Suomen rannikolla. Se on Suomen ensimmäinen
kiinteä pohjamajakka ja on rakennettu 1947 sekä peruskorjattu 2005. Nimensä loisto on saanut
Ruotsalaiselta keksijältä Gustaf Dalénilta joka keksi ensimmäisen
automaattisen majakan, joka toimii asetyylikaasun avulla aurin-
koventtiilin sammuttaessa ja sytyttäessä majakan päivänvalon
mukaan. Tästä keksinnöstään hänet on palkittu Nobel:n fysiikan
palkinnolla vuonna 1912. Nimi on merkitty Loistoon suurin rau-
takirjaimin. Vanha sumukello on poistettu käytöstä ja sen löytää
nykyään Maarianhaminasta Storgatanin varrella olevasta puistos-
ta. Gustav Dalén sijaitsee reitillämme Långnäsista Naantaliin päin
mentäessä noin 1 h 30 min laivamatkan päässä.
The Gustaf Dalén lighthouse is located in the open sea area of
Kihti, in the Archipelgo near the Finnish coast. It is Finland’s first
bottom-based lighthouse built in 1947 and renovated in 2005. It is
named after the Swedish inventor Gustaf Dalén, who invented the
first automatic lighthouse. The lighthouse works by burning off
carbide gas and it has a solar sensor which automatically opera-
tes the light only during darkness. This invention was awarded
the Physics Nobel Prize in 1912. Gustaf Daléns name is written on the lighthouse in big iron
letters. The old fog bell from the lighthouse was removed and can now be found in a park along
Storgatan in Mariehamn. The Gustav Dalén lighthouse is located on our route one hour and
30min from Långnäs towards Naantali.

Tjärven

Tjärvenin majakka on rakennettu 1903 ja majakka on uudistettu
1956, jolloin alkuperäinen linnamainen ulkoasu muutettiin nyky-
aikaisemmaksi. Muutostöissä osa koristeellisuudesta hävisi nykyai-
kasemman ulkomuodon myötä. Tjärven sijaitsee reitillämme noin
1 h laivamatkan päässä Kapellskärin satamasta.
The Tjärven lighthouse was built in 1903 and renovated in 1956.
During the renovations some of the ornamentation was removed
and it was given a more modern, less castle-like, appearance. Tjärven
is located on our route about an hour from the Kapellskär harbour.

Nyhamnin majakka

Nyhamnin majakka sijaitsee Ahvenanmaalla Lemlandissa Lilla Båtskärin saarella. Majakka
valmistui vuonna 1957 ja se on rakennettu vanhaan kaivostorniin. Vaikka saarelle on avattu
majakan sulkemisen jälkeen tuulivoimapuisto, on kaikki saaren vanhat rakennukset säilytetty.
Lilla Båtskärin saaren lähialueet tunnettiin jo keskiajalla merenkul-
kijoiden parissa noiduttuna seutuna, sillä alueella on magneettinen
häiriö, joka sekoittaa kompassin. Siitä huolimatta alueelle saatiin
majakka vasta 1950-luvulla. Nyhamnin majakka sijaitsee reitillämme
noin 2 h laivamatkan päässä Kapellskärin satamasta.
The Nyhamn Lighthouse is located in Lemland, Åland, on the island
of Lilla Båtskär. The lighthouse was completed in 1957 and built into
an old mining tower. After the lighthouse was taken out of commission, a wind farm opened on
the island. All the old buildings on the island were preserved. In the middle ages, seamen belie-
ved that the area of Lilla Båtskär was bewitched because the magnetics fields around the island
made reading a compass very difficult. Despite this, the lighthouse was built there in the 1950s.
Nyhamn’s lighthouse is located on our route about two hours from the Kapellskär harbour.

Ominainen

Ominaisen saari on Paraisilla keskisellä saaristomerellä sijaitseva mielenkiintoisen historian
omaava saari, joka edelleen aiheuttaa monelle purjehtijalle vilunväreitä. Saareen vietiin aikoi-

The historically interesting island of Ominainen, located at
Parainen in the central part of the Archipelago, still sends chills
down sailors backs. The deceased from the towns of Rymättylä
and Nauvo that church refused to bury in its holy ground, were all buried on this island. It is said
that to this day the souls of the deceased still haunt the island. Campers on the island have re-
ported something supernatural keeping them up all night and breaking their boat ropes.
