LEVEL 1 AWARD

LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA
IN ART, DESIGN AND MEDIA (UAL) (ONE YEAR)
These qualifications provide opportunities for those who are intrigued and motivated by art and design to explore, develop and test their creativity.
The emphasis is on practical study over
a more academic study route. You will be introduced to a variety of art and design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textiles Design, 3D and Photography. Opportunities will be available to study Mathematics and English at the appropriate level alongside the main qualification.
The Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design and Media endeavours to provide you with an introduction to art, design and media, encouraging engagement with education and the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and understanding to progress to
Further Education or employment within the Creative Industries.
The Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design and Media is designed to build on the skills, knowledge and understanding acquired through the Award and to provide an opportunity to explore, develop and test creativity. The course will provide a base of skills and knowledge, enhance self-confidence and develop an understanding of the career demands and opportunities within art, design and media.
Progression:
On successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma, the majority of students progress to a Level 2 course in an appropriate subject area.

LEVEL 2 AWARD IN ART AND DESIGN (UAL)
LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN ART AND DESIGN (UAL) (ONE YEAR)
The Level 2 Award and Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design provide an opportunity for those who are intrigued by art and design to explore, develop and test their creativity within a structure that provides a sound base of skills and knowledge whilst at the same time enhancing self-confidence. The courses will also raise awareness of the career demands and opportunities that exist in the sector.
You will be introduced at a basic level to a variety of art and design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textiles Design, Interior Design, 3D Design and Photography through a series of project briefs. You will learn to research, develop ideas, use technical skills and evaluate your work.
You will have an introduction to the diversity of roles and responsibilities in the arts, design and creative industries and the personal and professional characteristics needed for a career in the creative industries.
Opportunities will be available to study Mathematics and English at the appropriate level alongside the main qualification.
Progression:
On successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design, most students progress to the Level 3 Diploma course in Art and Design. We can advise on progression opportunities to other qualifications and career pathways where required.

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN (UAL) (ONE YEAR)
The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (one year) qualification is designed for those who want to study Art and Design full-time and develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding through a variety of Art and Design disciplines to enable progression to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.
The course introduces students to a variety of Art and Design disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion/Textile Design, Interior Design, 3D Design and Photography.
Through project briefs you will develop a critical and contextual awareness of different perspectives and approaches with art, design or related subject of study or work. You will also learn how to research, analyse and evaluate relevant information and ideas in order to develop creative solutions.
Progression:
On successful completion of the course, most students progress to the Extended Diploma in Art and Design and we will advise on other qualification combinations if required.

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN (UAL) (ONE YEAR)
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design builds on the skills, knowledge and understanding developed on the Level 3 Diploma and extends the experience by further developing practical methods and skills for creative production. You will learn to solve complex problems through the application of art, design or related practical, theoretical and technical understanding.
A variety of Art and Design disciplines will be covered such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion & Textiles Design, Interior Design, 3D Design and Photography. The Final Major Project at the end of the year enables specialisation within the disciplines to
allow for more in depth knowledge and sophisticated understanding of a
specific area.
Progression:
We will support you in developing your portfolio for your chosen discipline for progression to degree level study and selection of work for the end of year show.

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN
– FOUNDATION STUDIES (UAL) (ONE YEAR)
This is the ultimate post A level course for progression to studying an art and design subject at Higher Education level. The course is diagnostic, supporting students
in their transition from general education to specialist art and design education, enabling them to make an informed decision when applying to Higher Education art and design courses, or seeking employment within a related industry.
The course is designed to encourage you
to explore, experiment and take risks in practical sessions as well as gaining theoretical knowledge through critical and conceptual studies. You will learn through project briefs, assignments, presentations and group critiques which will enable you to develop strong communication skills and support
your progression to specialist art and design Higher Education.
You will sample a variety of disciplines such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Printmaking, Fashion, Textiles, 3D Design, Photography and undertake a Final Major Project which will demonstrate a more in depth level of sophistication in your chosen discipline.
Progression:
On successful completion, the majority of students progress to Higher Education, with some progressing into employment

ACCESS TO HE ART & DESIGN (CAVA) (ONE YEAR)
Bradford School of Art
This course is suitable for those adults wishing to develop a portfolio of art, media and design-related work for entry to Higher Education.
You will explore disciplines such as Drawing, Printmaking, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Textile Design, Photography and ICT.
An introduction to these disciplines will develop your individual creative potential in a supportive environment enabling you to develop concepts, take creative risks and understand techniques and processes.
Practical work will be supported by theoretical studies and a study skills units.
Progression:
On successful completion of the course, you will be able to progress to a general or specialist Higher Education course.
Entry Requirements:
Ideally, you should have GCSE English and Mathematics at a minimum of Grade C or a willingness to undertake these qualifications as part of your programme of study. You will be interviewed and will need to bring your portfolio/folder of art, media or design-related work.

APPRENTICESHIPS

LEVEL 3 CREATIVE AND DIGITAL MEDIA APPRENTICESHIP (TWO YEARS)
Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn and train in your chosen career as well as earning a regular pay packet. You will be given first-hand experience and learn the majority of the skills needed on-the-job, whilst also completing off-the-job training at the College through day release.
This Apprenticeship covers roles across the creative and digital media industries including digital graphics and photo imaging. There are many job roles in this area ranging from production and editing to interactive media and photography.
The course consists of a College based qualification and a work based qualification. The College day release qualification covers, Print Production, Digital Graphics, Print & Photography and Photographic Practice.
This leads to the technical certificate qualification.
The work-based Diploma, has various Optional Units to choose from, based on employment requirements.
You will develop an understanding of the creative and digital media industry and
how computerised information can be manipulated and used to create a variety of visual adaptations which can be used for print production, web design, packaging and social media advertising.
You will gain on the job experience using modern technology.
You will earn a minimum of £3.30 per hour.
You will work towards a recognised Apprenticeship programme including a variety of qualifications.
Progression:
On successful completion of the Apprenticeship, you may progress your studies on a higher level apprenticeship or related Higher Education qualification.
Entry Requirements:
•• GCSEMathematicsandEnglish at Grade A*-C.

These qualifications allow for progression from AS to full A level and can be stand alone qualifications or studied alongside other qualifications.
You will benefit from studying in the Bradford School of Art with its specialist facilities and experienced staff, most of who are practising Artists and Designers.
