HISTORY
On 1st December 1999, the Art and Culture Unit
(UBS) was created. The institution was then renamed
the Art and Culture Centre (PBS) on 22nd February
2003. The center's mission is to coordinate all artistic
and cultural events by the students and for students to
participate on and off campus. The Hashim Yasin
Cultural Complex houses the Art and Culture Centre,
which is located next to the varsity mall and across
from Sultan Badlishah UUM mosque.

VISION
Assisting the university in producing graduates who
are not only informed and professional, but also have
strong leadership qualities, notably in the promotion
and development of arts and cultural activities in order
to realize our long-awaited “national culture”.

MISSION
Plan and manage all arts and cultural events for
students, whether they occur on or off campus.



UUM Music Club is a society that guides students in the field of
musical art. There are three branches in UUM Music Club,
named music, 24 season drums and composing music. Students
can learn to modern play and traditional musical instruments
such as guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, wind instruments,
traditional drums-gendang, caklempong as well as vocal art and
choir. Students are also able to learn music notation formally
according to the guidelines of the Associated Board of The
Royal Schools of The Music (ABRSM) through qualified and
experienced students.

The mission of the music club is to produce great talent in the
field of music and can be a future prospect in the art industry.
Besides, the vision of the music club is to produce talented
students in various fields such as music, management and even
education. There are several objectives in the UUM music club.
Among them are introducing music clubs as an art platform to
talented and potential students, unearthing hidden musical
talents among students providing them some opportunities to
show their talents in terms of performance and event
management, and exposing them to music theory and
management knowledge.

Through the UUM Music Club, students can showcase their
talents and also share their music experiences with other friends.
The music club provides them a wonderful opportunity to
represent the university to participate in some competitions. In
addition, the music club also welcomes participation among
students to become the secretarial and committee. Students can
help to manage and administer this club to be more advanced in
the future. As such, students can understand how to manage a
band in a more organized way.



北方七点九音乐创作坊，简称七点九，是位于马泰边
界的北方大学里的歌曲创作坊。北方七点九音乐创作
坊成立于1995年3月8日，这特殊的坊名源自于例常活
动时间，也就是每逢星期二晚上7时45分，风雨不改的
在“情人桥”例常聚会，北方七点九音乐创作坊是从
最初的《点缘》经改组后，才正式易名的。为了方便
来自不同宿舍的北大生，七点九例常活动地点已更改
为图书馆外门厅，也成了对歌曲创作充满热诚的你我
架起音乐的桥梁。

北方七点九音乐创作坊于1996年9月23日正式加入【北
工站】，一个属于北马区各工作坊交流站的大家庭。
自成立以来，七点九积极参与【北工站】主办的各种
活动，包括【掀高浪潮新人奖】，【金峰奖】及【新
浪奖】创作营等等，当中，坊员曾在【掀高浪潮新人
奖】荣获优秀奖以及进入【金峰奖】决赛，七点九的
老九【Do Re Mi】也曾经在【金峰奖】获得总冠军，
最佳编曲，最佳作曲及最佳作词，2018年，北方七点
九成员创作的一首《半》从100首自编曲中脱颖而出并
顺利晋级了仅有25个名额的「金边奖】半决赛。

每一届，北方七点九音乐创作坊都会主办几项主要活
动，分别是新学年第一个学期的《发表会》与新学年
第二个学期的《北创奖》，以及培训新坊员的培训营
和密集准备发表会的集训营活动，我们也在2017年开
始增加另一项活动—《迷你分享会》。

7dian Song Composing Club is a Song Composing Unit from the

Northern University Malaysia (UUM). 7dian9 Song Composing Club

《稻草边的大was established on 8th March 1995. It was known as
学 》 《 点 缘 》and , before changing its name to 7dian9 Song

Composing Club. The name of 7dian9 Song Composing Club comes

from their weekly activities which will be held on every Tuesday at

7.45pm. 7dian9 Song Composing Club is the homophonic
七 点 九pronunciation of the 7.45pm (
) in Chinese. The venue for
情 人 节weekly activities was located at a bridge name '

Varsity Mall in UUM with the library of UUM. The location has now

changed to Foyer Library in UUM in order to make it convenient for all

students in UUM from different dorms to attend. The weekly activities

of 7dian9 Song Composing Club help to foster the passion of

composing songs among students of UUM.

On 23rd September 1996, 7dian9 Song Composing Club officially
北工站become a member of the Northern Group of Composer (

Northern units in the Northern region of Malaysia. Since the formation

of 7dian9 Song Composing Club, it has actively joined all the activities

composed by the member in 7dian9 Song Composing Club

successfully enter the Semi-Final of the Golden Frontier Award where

there were only 25 places, standing out from 100 self-composed song.

7dian9 Song Composing Club organizes several music-related events
every year. The events are ”Song Composing Concert” in 1st Semester
of new school year, and “Local Song Composing Competition” in 2nd
Semester of new school year, training camps to train new members, as
well as the training camp for the activities of “Song Composing
Concert”. In 2012, the Club introduced a new event which is the “Mini
Song Composition Concert.”



目标 Aims

我们举办此活动的目标是为了招募有才华的北
大生来学习创作和制作原创歌曲。通过这个比
赛，北大生能够提升他们的创作水平，并激发
对原创歌曲创作的兴趣。

This event aims to recruit talented members to
learn in creating and composing a song. Through
this program. students in UUM can improve their
skill of composing songs and encourage interest
in composing local songs.

宗旨 Objectives

1. 延续与推广北大生的创作风气.
To continue and promote the creative style of
UUM students.

2. 促进北大生之间的创作交流。
To enhance creative exchanges between UUM
students.



此次北创奖主题为《零之曙光》，零寓意着
初衷与本真，亦可理解为在受外界的影响与
干扰下，依然坚持最初的梦想以及忠于自己
的个性、精神和品格的特质。曙光有着希望
之光的美誉，借此曙光在本年度的主题里扮
演着希望与传承的角色。因此，本年度主题
主要表达的便是初衷，本真，希望以及传
承。愿所有的音乐创作人们能成为最纯粹的
自己，创作出最纯粹的音乐，在未来的日子
里光芒四射，闪耀全场！

The theme of the Local Song Composing

《Competition 2022 is called BEGINNING X
》INHERITANCE . Initial represents the original

intention and authenticity. It can also be understood

as persisting in the original dream and being loyal to

one's own personality, spirit and character despite the

influence and interference of the outside world.

Dawning is known as the "light of hope," and hence

plays the role of hope and inheritance in this year's

theme. Therefore, the theme mainly expresses the

original intention, authenticity, hope and inheritance.

May all music creators become their purest selves,

create the purest music, and shine brightly in the

future!

Warm Greetings to everyone!

First, I would like to thank you for allowing me to say a few
words. I must express my gratitude to the incredible committees
and participants contributing to these humbling events. Being a
part of this beautiful occasion fills me with tremendous joy.

Beyond that, the Local Song Composing Competition is a contest
that first tries to give participants a stage on which to showcase
their songwriting abilities. People may post their songs on it as a
platform for music sharing.

Besides, I would also wish to grab this opportunity to commend
the management team for organizing a stage for students who are
enthusiastic about showcasing their musical abilities.

Greetings to everyone!

I am Zhi Yin, the president of 7dian9 Song Composing Club
would like to thank the success of this competition has done. I
really appreciate all participations who have put their passion and
effort into composing a new song to pass out a message to the
audience. I also want to thank all committees and members who
have managed and held the online competition but persisted to
prepare it offline.

It is not an easy task for everyone to hold a competition, and I
should be grateful for every part of the journey. Thanks to every
school authority, that have given assistant permission to
complete the competition in an awesome way. We hope that this
competition could proceed every year in the future. We will be
excited to find out about every song composed by all talents!

As the director of Local Song Composing Competition 2022, I’m
honored to express my immense gratitude for everyone’s support and
trust. The objective of this competition is to promote the songwriting
trend and skills among university students.

Due to the Pandemic, we decided to hold this competition through an
online platform. It had brought us a lot of challenges in this brand
new form but I could say that my team has always been the pillar of
strength. We spare no effort to make this contest the best. I must say
that being with you guys gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

In addition, I also thank the various organizations and sponsorships
for their assistance in carrying out this competition smoothly. Thus,
we were able to witness the production of various excellent creations.

In a nutshell, we were able to accomplish such an achievement
because of the tireless work given by every member from every
department. Without you all, there would be no composing
competition. I sincerely appreciate all the hard work from my team.
