THE PROMISED LAND
Soon we will be celebrating Independence Day here in America. We are called the Land of the Free
and the Home of the Brave. To our forefathers, this was their Promised Land. A place they dreamed of
where they could live in peace and have freedom to worship Almighty God as they knew He
deserved. The 4th of July has been celebrated here for many years. Sadly, it is not celebrated with the
knowledge folks should have, and hold dear, of a land where we were established as Almighty God
being our Creator. We all recall the date of July 4, 1776 as being the date our Independence from
Great Britain became final. The document which is
called The Declaration of Independence, which
begins like this:

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united
States of America, When in the Course of human
events, it becomes necessary for one people to
dissolve the political bands which have connected
them with another, and to assume among the powers
of the earth, the separate and equal station to which
the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them,
a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires
that they should declare the causes which impel them
to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-
evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights,
Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --
That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the
People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such
principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their
Safety and Happiness. As we notice the words that say, We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all
men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that
among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The writers of the Constitution, especially
Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Constitution and then with the help of other members of the
Constitutional Congress, worked for days on the document to make sure it was worded in a way to
explain why the 13 colonies needed their freedom as a nation to itself, free from Great Britain and
it=E2=80=99s King, which was King George III. To the writes the king was thought of as a
tyrant. This was part of the Constitution which explained why then needed their freedom from Great
Britain. Here is what is written immediately after the part we shared with you above: Prudence,
indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient
causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while
evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But
when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to
reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government,
and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these
Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of
Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and
usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To
prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
We mentioned all this for a reason. Our forefathers who came here to have freedom to worship God in
the manner they felt was according to God, were being treated as though they still were in Great
Britain, with taxes and rules which were a great hardship on them. They suffered greatly to make it to
this new land and once there, King George III was trying to still rule them and be King over them.
These were great men: our forefathers, who took it upon themselves to have a Constitutional Congress
to rid themselves of tyranny and become a free country which they dreamed of, and which was the
purpose of all the suffering they endured to make it to this free land. America was their Promised Land.
These very documents are still in existence and kept safe in the Library of Congress, and we pray it
will remain safe there. But in these days in which we live, those very reasons why our forefathers
endured such conflict and affliction are being tested by our very own government. Our Constitution
which names our liberties, and freedoms are being taken away from us as we speak. These men who
want to remove the very freedoms God granted us to have, by our honoring Him and making mention
as it is in Him whom we place our trust in, is and has been removing His name from public places and
telling our schools they are not allowed to mention His name or ever teach Creation, but instead tells
them they must teach Evolution, and has taken upon themselves to remove Bibles from classrooms and
offices of men and women who work in government jobs. These men have taken upon themselves to
make laws that are against God, and are against the very liberty and freedoms we celebrate on July
4th. Yet, these men are doing only what they are allowed to do. If folks were held accountable who are
put in office to uphold our rights, as they were elected to do, these things would not have happened.
What has puzzled me down through the years is this: Why are the few who are against any mention of
God or the Bible, able to make laws and rules that are against the majority of our people? How were
the few able to overrule the majority? The reason all this was mentioned is for this reason. Just like our
forefathers wanted freedom of religion and to live in peace, most of us today still want those things.
Even if you are not a Christian, you want freedom to do what you feel is right, for you and for your
family. The Declaration of Independence stated all the reasons why they wanted their freedom, just as
the Bible states all the reasons we should want to be Christians. They wanted peace and happiness and
that is what God offers us today. Peace and Happiness. But God goes further, He can give it to us and
unlike the politicians today when it comes to our freedoms and liberties in our country, no one can take
them away. Men can only go so far. They can take away freedoms and liberties and make it hard for us,
even to the point of death, but they can never take away of freedom that God places in our hearts. They
cannot take away our promises God makes us throughout the Bible. When all is said and done, God
will have the last say. No matter what hardships men may place on us here in this life, on Judgment
Day when we see Christ coming in the eastern sky, His mercy will be over, and then judgment for us
all. We will be judged by what the Bible says. You know, that Book they are trying to remove from all
public places, well, on that day, it will be the very Book that will give them judgment. Revelation
22:12; "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his
work shall be."
The only way any of us will be able to obtain eternal life in a place where there is perfect peace, joy,
happiness, liberty, with no sorrow or pain to ever know again, the only way any of us will make it to
that destination is if our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. That is the Book that Christ
places our name in when we give our hearts to Him and make Him Lord of our life. He is the only King
that can do that, and all we have to do is let Him be our Lord and Savior. We must live a holy life to
make it over there. God wants to set us free from sin, so we can be there. That is true freedom, when
we belong to God, and we find the freedom, peace, joy and love we were born to have, but it is up to us
to obtain it. That is why our forefathers wanted a country, so we could have that freedom to worship
the one and only true God: Almighty God. We have that promised land so many have died for, and are
still dying for. There are people even among us who are citizens of our country, who want to take that
freedom away. We must stand by the founding fathers and appreciate their struggle they had in order to
obtain this land we call our own. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United
States are beautiful documents and we all should take pride in them, and uphold them as a means God
used to help us have our liberty and freedom. Even though it is being ignored by our leaders and they
are placing hardships on those of us who belong to God, one day, the very Book that these two
documents were based upon, will judge them and they will be held accountable for how they have lived
and whether or not they stood for God. As we remember those great men we call our forefathers, let us
remember too that they were prayer warriors and believed and were not ashamed to mention God in
these very documents we are soon going to be celebrating this 4th of July. Remember their sacrifice for
our benefits, but even more so, remember Christ who died so we could have the greatest of freedoms
and liberties, when He hung on an old rugged cross so we could one day live in that promised land!
COMMENT; IN A FEW DAYS IT WILL BE INDEPENDENCE DAY. A day we celebrate our
country's freedom. Man has always wanted to feel freedom, and even though some may not admit it,
they also want to feel free from sin. Christ paid the ultimate price so we could have that freedom. So
many brave Americans have fought and died for our freedom to live in this country where we could
choose which way we wanted to live our lives, without being punished, or enslaved for our beliefs. In
these days, there are many who are against that very freedom, all because they want to have rule over
our people, and dictate what we can or cannot do. July 4th is our day we celebrate our freedom in this
great land we call America. Let us not forget the sacrifices made for our freedom, and please don't
forget the sacrifice Christ made on that old cross so we could have the freedom to choose to be a
Christian or to live without His great promise. He gave us that choice. Don't take your freedom lightly
in either case. May God bless us all to want to be a blessing to Him!

In Remembrance Of Linda Sue Davis
Linda Sue Davis, 69 of Lucasville died Sunday, June 9, 2019 at her home. Parents are
the late Robert L. and Mildred K. Fender Adkins. Along with her parents, she was
preceded in death by 2 grandchildren; Brianna Davis and Haylee Swain. She was a
member of the Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school
teacher. She loved children. Linda will be missed by family & friends.
