RONALD McDONALD HOUSE

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of
Charleston, a 32 bedroom home for families of
critically ill children being treated in area hospitals.
Within our walls, parents and children lead a life as
normal as possible during their traumatic times
without the financial burden of costly hotel, food
and travel expenses.

Each night the Ronald McDonald House has 32
families, who have traveled to Charleston for their
child’s medical treatment, calling our House their
‘Home-away-from-home’. Our home offers these
families’ comfortable beds, hot meals, a caring staff,
and a four-legged friend, Gardy, all just steps from
the hospital. RMHC Charleston has 24/7 awake staff
to help our families whenever needed.

RMHC Charleston has helped more than 17,000
families over the past 33 years here in Charleston,
SC. Ronald McDonald House Charities empowers
families by providing stability and vital resources so
they can get and keep their child happy and healthy.
By keeping families together, RMHC helps children
heal faster and cope better.

and is tasked with raising its own funds each year. Corporate partners, foundations, grants and
individual donors, along with multiple special events, enable the House to operate efficiently and
effectively with annual cash revenues of $1.7 Millon.

strengthened through vendors, volunteers, donation
boxes at the restaurants and support of events.

In 2016, guests at our local McDonald’s restaurants
contributed over $59,000 through RMHC Donation
Boxes.

Our volunteers are the Heart of our House. Each day you will find volunteers who are helping whether
it’s supporting our guest services, preparing a meal, or organizing a fundraiser. RMHC Charleston welcomes

a variety of groups to help maintain our large House and help make it feel like home for our families.
Groups can help in many different ways including coming to the House on a scheduled date to help clean
or host a wish list drive to help stock the pantry, Prepare-A-Meal, bake cookies, stuff On-the-Go Meal Kits

or host family activities, like Bingo! We are so thankful for all of the volunteers and all of the time that
were put in during 2016- each individual and group made a huge difference for RMHC Charleston.
