Macklin Kinettes

Several of the local Macklin Kinettes traveled in a winter storm to Regina on March 3rd and
4th weekend to take part in the 42nd Telemiracle telethon. They worked 3 of the 4 shifts
(7pm on Saturday-12pm on Sunday) answering phones and taking pledges. The group also
consisted of 3 non-Kinette's : Katy Bast, Jaden Pletz and Samira Haddon.

A community cheque of $12,000 was taken from Macklin that consisted of money raised
by the Kinettes, the Villa, the School and various personal donations. It was an historic
weekend as over $7.1 million was raised during the 20hr show.
The Macklin Kinettes would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped
with our Telemiracle fundraisers, purchased hands, bought raffle tickets and attended the
pancake breakfast.

The Macklin Art’s Council had a busy March with two events, first was the family fun
night concert series with a performance by ‘Tomato/Tomato’ as well as their annual
Dinner Theatre production of
‘Cyrano de Burgershack’

BANTAMS WIN LEAGUE

Macklin Bantams: 2018 League Champs
The Macklin Mohawk Bantams had a terrific season, remaining undefeated in all
of their 24 league games. Although they lost out in provincial semifinals against Hudson
Bay, their teamwork and strength led them to further success in league playoffs. After
beating North Battleford in semifinals, our Bantams captured first place in the Hi-Way 14

League by defeating Rosetown (with scores of 9-4 and 5-4).
Congratulations to the Bantam boys for their determination and teamwork,
especially when faced with low numbers and injuries. Also, thanks to the affiliates for

their help during the regular season and playoffs.

The Macklin Skating Club concluded the season by taking a trip
around the World in their ‘Wonderlust’ Themed Ice Carnival
held March 17.

Congratulations to all the performers who participated in
the 2018 Prairie Sunset Music Festival held in Kerrobert.

Letter from the Chief

Macklin and the surrounding district has had an active volunteer fire department
since 1912. We have come a long way in 106 years. The department started
with a hand drawn hose cart and has evolved to a hall that houses 2 Pumpers, 2
Wildland trucks, a Rescue unit and a Command truck. We have just over 20
well equipped and trained members that are ready to respond 24 hours a day.
Our department responds to grass and structure fires, motor vehicle accidents
and all other kinds of emergency situations. We are trained in water and ice
rescue as well. We are governed by a Fire Board that has representatives from
the 2 towns and 3 R.M.’s that we cover. The Fire board and the Fire
Department work together with the common goal of providing the best
equipment and training to safely provide the services required when we are
called on. If you have any questions about what we do or would be interested
in joining our dedicated team of professional volunteers please feel free to
contact any member of our department.
