President Report.
What a couple of great promotions for square dancing we had over the last month. Congratulations to Greg Fawell and the dancers who were able to provide a series of short square dance segments which were shown following the weather on Channel 9s The Morning Show on 30 October. The Society once again participated in Have-a-Go-Day. Our thanks to Jim Buckingham and all the dancers for providing the square dance sessions throughout the day. Feedback has been positive with a number of enquiries being made about beginners’ classes. Well done everyone. These types of promotions are essential in keeping square dancing alive and to the fore.
Congratulations to Phil Paddon on receiving this year’s Juniper Lifetime Achievement Award (metropolitan). Phil received his award at the WA Seniors Award ceremony at Perth Zoo on 22 October. The awards are presented by the Council on the Aging (WA) in partnership Department of Communities. In Phil’s award profile his involvement with square dancing is highlighted.
A scary time recently for our Caller Representative and Life Member, Brian Simms, when he contracted a salmonella infection. We wish Brian a speedy recovery and look forward to his being back behind the mic and on the dance floor soon.
The Society is still seeking a Promotions Officer. As mentioned in my last report we welcome individuals, couples or a small committee to take up the task of this role.
Harvest is in full swing so back to the header for the next few weeks. Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. Enjoy the upcoming Christmas Parties, take care and I look forward to catching up with you at the Mad Hatters Tea Party on 4 February 2018.

Callers Report.
Howdy Partners & Corners,
Just a short note this month to pass on the
very best wishes and seasons greeting from of us here at the CAWA to our many Square Dance friends at this very special time of the year.
I can’t let this opportunity pass without thanking you, one and all for your support’ encouragement, friendship and loyalty throughout the past year. As Callers we embrace with great passion the tasks and challenges of becoming a Caller running
a Club and being a leader in our little Square Dance world, but none of our efforts would be worth a single thing without YOU our wonderful Dancers.
As Deb and I are just about to jump into our car and make our way to York for the first of the many special Christmas celebrations I reflect on the real relevance of this special season and how important it is to share and enjoy the special feelings of friendship and goodwill that comes with this very special time.
Recent event in particular Brian Simm’s little bout with unwellnes should only serve to remind us how vulnerable we all are and how we should never underestimate the opportunities we have to share special times together.
Merry Christmas To All. Kev.
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
I’d just like to congratulate the Bunbury
Festival Team.
Congratulations Bunbury!! Almost 200 dancers attended a wonderful Festival.
A great atmosphere all weekend. Bunbury all showed so much enthusiasm; I think it rubbed off onto us too.
The Gnomes, too, gave us all an interest. I have attended most state convention over the last 30 years this one was one of the best.
The car rally was a great idea pity I didn’t make it. I got lost just getting to the start point.
A couple of programming issues I have pass on the CAWA that I hope will be ironed out by callers – constructive criticism, I hope.
I don’t like singling out callers but I have to say how much I enjoyed Ken Pike’s Calling.
Great Hoedown well done.
Also a great job done by Kevin Green on the back drop. You could almost hear the Seagulls squawking.
Yours in Square Dancing
Patsy Talbot
Patsy,
There is no doubt the team love hearing your
feedback. We are glad that you along with many others were able to enjoy the time away and we look forward to seeing you all in Clubs over Christmas and in the New Year.

Hi All.
Christmas is just around the corner with our
Christmas Dance on the 3rd December starting at 2.30pm to 5.00 pm.
We are all looking forward to dancing
to American Caller Ken Ritucci, it will be a great experience for many dancers who do not get to go to the Nationals to experience international Calllers.
We had 44 on the Coach to York and want to congratulate York Club on the great day. We were sorry Brian couldn’t be there, but its great he is on the road to recovery. Lorrain (also not feeling 100%) did a fantastic job with the help of her Club Members. A great day was had by all.
On behalf of Leila and myself and Allemanders Members we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope to see some of you on the floor in Margaret River.

Avon Squares
Caller/President: Brian Sims Dance: Friday 8:00pm
Hello again,
Avon Squares have just enjoyed an
amazing pre-Christmas Dance in the York Town Hall.
As Brian was unwell and not able to share the great day with us all, we now sincerely thank everyone who contributed so much make this a very special occasion. With approximately 140 friends in the hall and all contributing their love and fellowship it truly was a great start to the Christmas rounds.
Special thanks must go to Jim and Leila for once again bringing their magnificent coach with some 43 happy dancers all set to have a great day out.
Special thanks must go to all the callers - some thirteen - and Patricia Mori who called the Rounds. It may not be practical to mention everyone by name but special thanks go to Greg Fawell who was just home from overseas with his family crisis. Greg has always helped Brian set up the stage and equipment and his efforts are again most appreciated in Brian's absence.
Callers Stephen, Jim, Greg, Kevin, Richard, the two Jeffs, Ross, Robert, Ken, Alan, Tony, Trish, Kathi, and Patricia cueing the rounds, you all did us proud! Thank you.
Several of our members attended the State Festival at Bunbury. This was a truly great long weekend with great dancing and lots of fun - so well organized. Special thanks to all the committee for so much dedication and time to perfect the whole weekend.
Several of us also attended Wongan's Garden Party weekend. What a great time was had by all.
Avon Squares members send hearty congratulations to Keith Lethbridge who walked to Beverley to stay two nights with Brian & Lorraine and then proceeded to walk to York, Northam and on to Toodyay making special visits along the way. Culmination of this weekend saw Keith go on to win the State Championship and National Championship at the Bush Poets' Championship competitions. A big CONGRATULATIONS from us all, Keith.
Finally, Brian would like to thank Rod, our Vice President for standing in for Brian and conducting the Avon Squares pre-Christmas dance and many other ways he has helped Brian over the year. A big Thank you also goes to our dedicated members for all their contributions over the year and especially at our big dances. Our Club is like a family - just part of the big family of Square Dancing.
We wish all readers a Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe New Year.

Hello Everyone,
Well I’m sure that all who attended this
year’s State Convention/State Festival in Bunbury had a great time.
We were all well accommodated, well fed and entertained day and night.
The dancing was tops, the outfits were bright and everyone was partying. Thank you all square and round dance callers for some enjoyable dancing sessions. Even our Mayor Gary Brennan who officially declared the weekend open was impressed. And, yes
Page 11
he” Did get back in!” for another two year Term of office. Well done Gary!
The car rally on Sunday was a lot of fun and a way to see the surrounding areas and farmland. Some even saw “additional” roads and farmland, but we won’t go there. All tucked into a hearty lunch at the Ferguson Valley Hall before returning to check back in at Checkpoint 1. Just in time to start the afternoon dance session at 2pm..All was very well organized and carried through by Jeffery, Convenor Reg, and their Committee and Members. Thank you all very much for
a great time.
Then, we were so happy that many dancers stayed on and joined us for Club on Monday and we hope that you will come again. It was very pleasing to slide the wall back and have the area full of dancers. A big thank-you again to Jeff van Sambeeck, and Tony for “the real” calls and we hope you enjoyed our records and your “Six Couple” dance experience. It was a bonus also, to have Colin and Dolores extend their time in the South West. We did so enjoy their
company and visits.
At our A.G.M, all Office bearers were
returned unopposed. So everyone here must be happy with proceedings, and, in all honesty there aren’t many of us, so we can’t be too fussy. Looking forward to another year of dancing, inter-club visits and weekends away. Our closing date, in case you missed it is December 18th and we reopen again on January 22nd 2018.
Happy Christmas to everyone. Happy Celebrations as you welcome in 2018: a year full of Promise and lots more dancing...God Bless. Stay safe
and well and we will see you somewhere soon. Wishing you a Happy Christmas and New Year and will be in touch again in January. All best wishes.
Coral.

Callers: Andy Colvin & Kevin Fitzgerald Dance: Monday 8:00pm
By the time this newsletter goes to print, our Christmas dance will have been and gone as Kevin and his family have gone on holidays to Europe. We will still be dancing until Decembers the 4th. only Andy will be our caller.
Quite a few of our members travelled to Bunbury for the State Festival. A good time was had by all.
Phil Paddon won the 2017 Metropolitan Juniper Lifeline Achievement Award for all the work he does in and around our Community. Congratulations, Phil, you deserved it.
Graham Bennet must be getting old. He has just become a great-grandfather of a little boy. Congratulations to you Graham.

We had our Annual Mini Golf Day last Saturday. This year it was held at Wembley Golf Club course, instead of the Botanical Gardens in Joondalup. We then had a BBQ at Perry Lakes.
It is with great sadness we heard of the passing of Jim Dunlop after a long illness. Jim and his wife Marie, were long time, valued members of our Club. Rest in Peace, Jim. Our condolences to Marie and all the family.
A short riddle to finish off
Why does a stork stand on one leg?
Q
A VALE
It would fall over if it lifted the other one!
We note with deep sadness the passing of Jim Dunlop. Jim, was a long-time member of Cloverwest and will be deeply missed Our sincere condolences to Marie and all his family.

Dianella Rangers
Caller: Ted Jones
Dance: Wednesday 8:00pm
Hi all,
As this is the last Squaring Around report for
2017 it is appropriate to reflect upon activities that Dianella Ranger Members have enjoyed throughout the year.
Our opening dance was special as we had Brian Hotchkies visiting and sharing the calling for the evening with Jeff. In February many of our members attended the inaugural “New Era Dance” at the new headquarters of the Society – a splendid function. In March we enjoyed hosting our 41st birthday and welcomed many visitors from kindred clubs. At the end of May our caller Jeff, together with Keith Lethbridge and Robert Dew celebrated their 40 years’ of calling and ninety or so dancers acknowledged this milestone by attending a rousing afternoon dance at the Loftus Centre.
July was a busy month as preparations were finalised for the Amateur Callers’ Event, which attracted some very talented amateur callers. (Of course on a sad note, the sudden demise of George Brown – the Dancers’ choice winner of the ACE – was a great shock.) August saw many members attending the always-favoured Caller’s Ball and a special club dance night featured many of Elvis Presley’s well- known songs. The very special and different “State Convention” aka 39th WA State Square Dance Festival was a “must attend” and twenty of our members did just that and had a “ball” so to speak.
We always hold a charity dance night during the year and a generous donation of $ 400.00 to our favoured charity for 2017 “beyondblue” was made to this group. Funds were raised by having a “small change” money jar collection during the year and during the night fun games helped to swell the funds.
All these “special” dances at club level were interspersed with a variety of other theme nights, including Mothers’ and Father’s day dances – theme “Tiaras and Ties”, and frequent “Dancers’ choice” programmes of calling.
Apart from the aforementioned we also had a great social programme, and outings included a meal outing at a Thai restaurant; a day at the Oasis Super/mini golf venue – with lunch as well; a great weekend – shared with dancers from primarily Swan Valley – at Donnelly River – lots of dancing and socialising; a lovely “mystery” bus outing – arranged by Jim and Leila B. – a movie and meal at Joondalup City; and many cultural visits to the Tivoli and Limelight Theatres and a challenging Ramble Rally around Guildford – testing one’s observation skills.
December is always a busy time with most clubs hosting their Christmas Dances, and no doubt there will be many visitors enjoying the hospitality on one or more occasions. We at Dianella Rangers will be holding our dance – the last prior to Christmas, on the 20th December, and of we will welcome many visitors on that night.
I am sure there are activities that I have overlooked including, not intentionally, but no matter what our members have taken part in, the motto of “friendship” always prevails.
To all square dancers, enjoy the Festive Season, and keep safe and healthy.
Yours in friendship – Joy F.

Our Halloween Dance on 31/10/2017 was a very scary event. Many members took the opportunity to dress up and run with the fun. Steve T had his horns out and Bruce E was all skeleton’s. Rae L had everyone wondering who was behind the mask. There were some ‘pretty/ugly’ witches and warlocks to dodge around the dance floor making for a very colourful and fun night. Well done Greenfinches and the many scary visitors. Welcome on board to Greenfinches to Anna Spadaccini who won the ladies horse race for our Melbourne Cup Dance 7/11/2017.
Speaking of the Melbourne Cup Dance - George from Swan Valley Squares was a big winner at our Melbourne Cup Dance. Not only did he win our own men’s M/C race but one our big sweep, placed in some smaller sweeps and took off a raffle prize as well..... One big winner at Greenfinches...well done George!!! Bruce E won ‘The men’s hat’ with his horse head while Julie L won the ‘Best ladies hat’ with her delicate fascinator!!! The following week Steve T got caught out by Julie L again on this occasion Julie L came across Steve T sitting beside Dot H and Bill H on the other side. Unfortunately, both boys had their hands close together and with a little help from Julie suddenly they became intimate!!!! Well Bill sprang to his feat announcing loudly that “I voted NO..!!!!” while Steve sheepishly withdrew his arm hehe. Well things got even worse for Steve T when he attended Avon Squares where Jim Buckingham got wind of it and revealed he too had feelings for Steve T but after this it was all off! Poor Steve was up on stage in front of all 140 participants well done Jimbo.
Our next big dance is the Christmas Dance on 5/12/2017 then we break until Tuesday 23/1/2018.
We wish all clubs well over the festive season and look forward to a prosperous 2018.

Hi Everyone,
We have all survived the Hi-Viz Festival
Bunbury. Reg, Noel and their lovely ladies, did a magnificent job, organising and showing us a wonderful time in the south- west. Everything ran like clockwork to us, but probably seemed different to the committee. The dressing of the Gnomes was certainly a new idea, some of them had a sex change, some were dissected, and all ended in a Square at Gnomesville.
Those of us who stayed at Koombana Bay Discovery Park, joined in as much fun and frivolity as our bodies would allow. We arrived Thursday afternoon, and attended JayGees on that night. Then had Friday night, Saturday and night at the Festival, with a delicious meal and entertainment at the Seniors Centre included, Sunday morning off to Gnomesville and Ferguson for lunch, with a couple of stops on the way. Then back to an Afternoon Dance.
Congratulations must go to all who worked hard at giving us an enjoyable weekend.
The next week it was back to club, for the wind- down and to recharge our batteries for the following weekend at Wongan Hills 41st Birthday Garden Party.
Page 13
Once again, we left home Thursday, had a nice Chalet booked at The Caravan Park air conditioned and waiting for us. We danced Thursday evening, Friday afternoon Steve picked us up and took us to Reynoldson Reserve to view the wildflowers, they were beautiful. In the evening we were picked up by bus, and delivered to The Bowling Club for a lovely Roast meal and Sweets, then taken to the Civic Centre for the Dance and delivered back to the Caravan Park. Sunday morning again the bus picked us up and took us to Terry’s Glass Works. What a magnificent place it is. After that we again invaded the Civic Centre for a very nice Morning Tea. Sunday evening we were taken out to Mt O’Brien for a BBQ Tea and dancing on the rock. One tune they danced to was Kevin calling “It’s Raining on the Rock.” You could not complain about the service, they were at our beck and call. We attended Wongan’s weekly dance. A very enjoyable time was had by all. Pat yourselves on the back Wongan Hills Club You did yourselves proud.
Back at the club, we were entertained by Ken Pike (The Man with the Mike) as Kevin and Deb were in Sydney celebrating Barry Wonson’s 50 Years of Calling. We thoroughly enjoyed Ken’s calling and the Jackpot of $40.00 was won by June, she said it’s the first time her number has been called out since she has been a member. It was also Our Melbourne Cup Night. We did have sweeps on the real cup Louis was the winner of both sweeps, Deb was second and Keith third, Wendy got her money back.
Kevin and Deb were back last Friday and it is a bit distressing to learn that Barry Wonson had a stroke a week before his celebration, that meant Kevin stepped up to the breech and managed the whole weekend. What a wonderful friend to have! Us Happy Wanderers certainly are Proud of Kevin, and wish Barry and his family all the best towards his recovery. The Jackpot $10.00 was won by Deb. So it’s $10.00 this week too.

Months of planning finally unfolded with the Bunbury Hi-Viz festival. Over 180 dancers joined us for a very memorable weekend of fun and dancing. With all the delicate timing it would have been possible for some small delay to cause disaster – but it didn't. We all moved (on time) to the Saturday night dinner and all moved back (on time) to the evening dance. The program didn't run over time and the callers and cuers all delivered an entertaining program. The Gnomes had their re-union on Saturday and were delivered to their secret destination (Gnonesville) during the car rally on Sunday.
Page 14
Your hosts (Convener) Reg Nielsen, (Secretary) Noel Ward, (Treasurer) Glenys Ward, (Program and Sound) Jeffrey Garbutt, (Committee Members) Kelvin Carmichael, Madge Crumby, Millie Gregory and Li Leng Ang - thank all the dancers, Callers, Cuers and Volunteers who made the weekend a success. Did I say volunteers? Thanks also to all members of Jay Gees plus George and Noelene Davidson, Rodney and Marion Spitz, David and Beverly Gay, Kevin Green, Stan Ball, Greg and Gwenda Bridges, Kevin Jones, Joanne and Ian Pendleberry, Tom Depiazzi and Kay Hoare. And not forgetting the support we had from Bunbury High School, Glen Huon Primary School, City of Bunbury Tourist Information Centre, Bunbury Senior Citizens Club, Eaton Scout Camp, Ferguson Hall Committee, Australian Singers. The festival was officially openned by the, (then), Deputy Mayor of Bunbury City Brendan Kelly.
We had 12 extra visitors on the night before the festival with Jo-Anne, Ian, Rene, Stan, Maureen, Colin, Dolores, Ted, Rose, Tony, Chris, Molly, Louis and Diane wearing various badges from Happy Wanderers, Riverside, Kiwilers, Greenfinches, Avon Squares, Dolphins, Gidge, Cloverwest.
Two visitors seemed to had forgotten that had a home, Colin and Dolores from (Avon Squares and Greenfinches) came for a total of three club nights. They were spending some time in the South West looking for Geocaches. Last report is they have now found most of the Geocaches hiding in the South West. (But I know at least 3 that they probably haven't found yet.)
We thank everyone for their cards, emails and messages of congratulations for the weekend. Don't forget – we were the lucky people who organised this festival – but it was you, (the dancers), who brought the atmosphere which made it all work so well. We have now settled into routine club nights, but it is a bit hard to pretend that the festival weekend never happened, so we won‘t.
The festival was followed up by a weekend at Wongan Hills, (which I missed out on), that was also worth attending by all reports. And we have just returned from the York Christmas dance. I'm sure Brian would have been very pleased with the way it ran. We hope he makes a full recovery.
We have had a late change for this year – we won't be dancing on the first Thursday in December (7th) due to work commitments. Our last night for this year is still on 14th December. We will be starting 2018 on February 9th.

We have the usual assemblage of ills. Maureen has been struggling with her legs. We are sure hopeful she wins the struggle soon. We note that while sailing around in exotic lands, Sharon attacked a cyclist. Her arm did not come out well from this encounter. It hindered her for a while but we are glad to see she has been able to re-join the action. Ian’s legs were growing some extra appendages, but since these did not improve his appearance, they have been removed. This put him out of action for a while, but he should have reappeared on the floor by the time you read this.
There have only been a couple of special events around the clubs. But we do have something special of our own. Ken Rittuchi will be calling a few days at the end of November. Our crystal ball is out of action so we can’t give any account of how good this is going to be, but hopefully you will enjoy a session or two with what is hoped to be bumper crowds.
This month we thought we would give a comprehensive account of Colleen and Virgil’s square dance history. When called, it turned out that they were inclined to be somewhat short of comprehensive. You have to wonder what grisly details have yet to be revealed. But they did say that they started square dancing about 20 years go at the invitation of a friend. This shows that they started very young. They learnt at a club whose name was mentioned, but the hearing of the scribe is not good enough to enable even a guess at the spelling of the name. After mainstream they went on to plus and then added A to their repertoire, and they continue to do this until this day.
After moving to Perth, they joined Kiwilers and have been regulars since. They have attended a number of conventions, but these days are leading a quieter life. We can mention they tried some experiments to find out if whiskey affected square dancing. Itmustbepointedoutthatonthefloorthese days, their antics have no connection with whiskey.
There are rumours around that the government is organizing a plebiscite on whether or not birthdays are still to be celebrated, but at the moment, they are still operational. December will see Marylin, Rew, Irene and Nick celebrating, with Margaret, Jack, Erla, Ted and Monica following up in January. Richard and Heather (you know them?) will have a wedding anniversary in December, with Marylin and David, Sue and Steve and Ross and Diana doing the same in January. Best wishes to one and all.
Well folks, that’s it for this year. Have a great Christmas and we hope that the New Year is especially good.

The State Festival has come and gone and by all accounts the venue and calling were very good. Well done to all concerned. Have a Go Day was supported by square dancers and callers – inviting the general public to ‘Have a Go’ - perhaps people will be encouraged to seek out square dancing further! Well done to those who participated.
Melody has some folk away so we are a little light on the ground. On Saturday 11th November many of us met for our annual BBQ at Heathcote. It was not too warm, and it was lovely to catch up with not only the current members, but also people that are no longer square dancing.
Some folk from Melody helped Pasty celebrate her surprise 80th birthday and a most enjoyable time was had by all. We welcome back Pat and David from their travels. An interesting cruise I believe. I guess we are all on the wind down toward Christmas now but we still have all those Christmas parties to go to!
Keep in Tune with Melody Ann

Our Christmas Party, ‘All I want for Christmas is ......’ will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 8.00pm. Please come dressed as your Christmas wish or in your cheery Christmas outfit. Santa has installed his letter box so that every dancer can post their secret wish, but be careful in case Santa or his helpers reveals some very naughty or nice wishes throughout the evening. There will also be raffles, spot prizes, carol singing and a scrumptious supper to conclude the festivities.
Many members travelled to Bunbury for the State Festival and our gnome ‘Normy’ was a prize- winner and is now residing happily in Gnomesville surrounded by like-minded peers. Congratulations to the Bunbury committee and their dancers for their
Page 15
superb hospitality and organisation. It was a most memorable weekend of friendship and dance.
Wongan Hill’s 41st birthday party saw their foundation and life member, Elsie Davey cut the birthday cake with almost 100 dancers singing the traditional birthday tune with gusto. Congratulations also to Ian Metcalf who was made a Life Member. Again, many Northern Stars made the annual trip to the wheat belt and contributed wholeheartedly to the many extracurricular activities that showcased this outstanding and resilient community. Thanks, Wongan Hills.
Our recent Introductory Night saw two new dancers dance to the crooning of Caller Steve who made everyone feel at ease and confident in taking on the dance challenge. ‘Turner’s Tangle’ proved to be not too much of a tangle for new and experienced dancers alike. Ask him to tangle you up next time you have him calling for you.
Our opening night for 2018 is February 3 – ‘The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius.’ Think cool water or nostalgic hippiness – please join us to get 2018 off to a great dawning. There’ll be some spot prizes, too.

Caller: Trish Holloway President: Neil Zinkler Dance: Monday 8:00pm
Well it probably goes without saying that I must have jinxed it either that or it was the trip to Wongan Hills (and back) - and we brought the hot weather back with us – but it appears to be here to stay for a while and dare I say it, some of us are already complaining.
It is certainly safe to say it has been an exciting few weeks in square dancing. Bunbury Festival was Bells and Whistles and huge bouquets for the Bunbury crew who put it together a really magnificent event. Thank you all so very much and thanks also to all the other dancers who attended. without you all it certainly wouldn’t have been so much fun.
Riverside can be very proud of our own little busy beaver Rene, who despite having to take good care of his harem of 8 lovely ladies out at the scout camp, jumped in and lent a helping hand whenever necessary. Well done Rene.
Two weeks later many of us were off again, this time to Wongan Hills for various length of stays. If you didn’t get to join us, sadly you missed a really really great weekend and be very very sure to look out for 2018’s version (a little birdie or was that a thorny devil, tells me it could be a smit earlier in the year, so a bit cooler. Don’t plan too much for September, and it could have a bit of a twist to it, again). If you did miss it then let me say that one unexpected delight/high- light was dancing to the tune of ‘Raining on the Rock’ on Mount O'Brien at sunset. It will certainly go do in the memory books for those of us who were there. Huge thank you Wongan Hills gang, you were great and so to the dancers who shared the experience.
Like I mentioned last month, so far our club still hasn’t had any further news about the (imminent?) renovations to the hall, so we continue to dance as normal and we will let everyone know if things suddenly change....
Our Christmas plans are still a little Topsy turvy and instead we intend to turn on a real woof woof of a Chinese New Year celebration on February 19th. Dog gone as the year of the dog anything ‘DOG’ is the theme but we promise no dog food for dinner either only the very best Chinese cuisine will do.
So mark it on your calendar February 19th - no need for dinner we will be eating after the first dance so no chance of indigestion either.
Don't hesitate to phone either Trish or myself (0419927633) if you are heading Cannington way to check if there have been any changes to our dancing plans – as they say ‘’the world is a-changing’, maybe.... Hope to see many of you on the floor in the hurry- scurry of the pre-Christmas whirl
Cheers for now
Jo-Anne.

Salve one and all
Along with the rest of you, Swan Valley
dancers have been enjoying some wonderful occasions lately.
A large contingent travelled to Bunbury for the State Festival. The hard working Festival team is to be congratulated for their excellent program and innovations; it really was a fantastic few days. It is pleasing to know that our Swan Valley gnome is now happily ensconced alongside his other square dancing mates, down in the beautiful Ferguson Valley.
Another highlight was the recent demo dance put on in Swan Valley’s hall in Ellenbrook, in response to a request our caller, Greg Fawell, head of the Callers Association, received from Channel 9, as part of ‘Have a Go’ day.
Page 16
Sincere thanks to all the dancers who travelled out at the godforsaken hour of 6.30 am to participate in a really fun morning – especially Jim Buckingham and Allemanders members Terry and Keith, Carol and Frank, Marilyn and all the gang from Dianella Rangers, Colin and Dolores from Avon Squares, and Carol and Rick Mason, visiting from Red Barrons, New South Wales.
You can have a look at the three TV segments by following these links:

Several Swan Valley members also attended the Wongan Hills birthday dance (rave reviews) and Greenfinches special events like the Halloween and Melbourne Cup nights.
We have been very blessed to enjoy Marita’s company over the past few months, and wish her well as she heads back up north. We look forward to seeing her again soon.
