Jeff always dreamed of playing sports on the ‘big stage’! As a kid he envisioned
playing college football as a receiver. He was one step closer to fulfilling his dream
when a construction accident left him broken and paralyzed from the waist down.
His life and dreams were shattered but not defeated. During those dark days he
had a decision to make: he could stay down and quit or get back up and succeed.
He chose the latter. As an ordinary man living life from a wheelchair, Jeff has
accomplished some extraordinary things. He played in the 2004 Paralympic games
in Athens Greece and is a silver medalist for the USA men’s wheelchair basketball
team. Jeff played in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) as a
National Champion, and was a 4-time All-Star MVP. He was the #1 men’s wheelchair
tennis player in the State of Utah and won the St. George Marathon.Jeff also has two
Guinness Book of World Records and an award-winning book titled I’Mpossible:
Desire. Dream. Do. Jeff has a Master’s degree in curriculum and education and
created a worldwide peer-to-peer leadership program that was recognized at the
United Nations. His dream and desire is to move and motivate 1 million people to

Get Up, Get Out, and Get Going!

Do you believe enough to take the first step forward and break free from the chains of the unseen
enemies of doubt and fear? Do you believe in yourself enough to get up, go forward, and try again even
after your painful past mistakes left you broken and paralyzed?

In the short time you have together, Jeff will walk you through a few of the tried and tested truths, he has
written in his award-winning book I’Mpossible: Desire. Dream. Do., that will assist you in taking your own
first steps forward. He will not only tell you how to change the impossible into the possible but he will
show you – one step at a time.

success you’ve already sown. In the end, you too will know you can do hard things and continue to make

Oak Mitigating the Effects of Child Sexual Abuse
Dr. Jeffrey Resilience, it seems, is that quality in a person that promotes their positive response
Wherry to difficult situations. Arguably, this quality or trait is instilled over time by parents,

caregivers, and mentors. In cases of child sexual abuse, the child and family may
be temporarily immobilized as a disclosure is made and families begin to cope with
the unthinkable—a personally inflicted sexual crime, often by a person known to the
family. This breakout session will review what educators and other professionals can
do to mitigate the negative effects of sexual abuse of a child. The focus will include
supporting the child and non-offending parent(s), including the child and family in
decisions to refer for services, understanding symptoms as functional responses in

many cases, and knowing when, what, and how to say what is needed.
